considered as one. Duration of this MBBS degree is 5.5 years.
BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) – Bachelor of Dental Surgery is total 5 year courses which include 4
years of study and then 1 year of internship. There are many colleges in India both government and private
which offer BDS degree after 12th class. Post that you can also do advance course that is MDS Master of
Dental Surgery.
Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS)- BHMS is good for you if you want to make
your career in Homeopathy. In Homeopathy, Homeo stands for similar whereas pathy means disease.
Homeopathy treatment is popular not in India but also in other part of the world and yes doctors are in great
demand. You can make your career in Government sector or you can also open your own private clinic.

B.U.M.S(Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery): You must have studied Physics, Chemistry &
Biology subjects at your 10+2 level for this course plus you also should have Urdu upto class 10th. For
Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery education there are around 40+ colleges and institutes in India.
For the post graduate degree there are eight medical colleges in India. You will be awarded BUMS Doctors
degree from these colleges and these are affiliated to universities which are recognized by the
Governments. After ayurveda , Unani medicines are also very popular in India. After getting this degree
you are eligible you can practice as a qualified doctors in India.
B.Pharma (Bachelor of Pharmacy) : Bachelor of Pharmacy or BPharma is an undergraduate degree. To
practice as a pharmacist you must possess this degree. It is also know with different names in other counties
but in India it is known as B Pharm. The course duration of this B Pharma medical course after 12th class in
India is 4 years. You must have Bio, Maths and physics with 50% marks at 10+2 level or an equivqlent
examination
M.D. (Doctor of Medicine): it is is a doctoral degree for physicians. In India this degree is equal to PhD or
a higher doctorate. After MBBS you can enroll youself for this course for specialty training to get this
higher postgraduate degree. There are various allopathic medical schools which offer this degree.
