Case Study

ABC is a newly opened college with 200 full time students enrolled on four different
courses. The college has recently invested heavily on resources and has bought
2000 books. The college has approached your company for the quotation for the
library application.

The 24*7 IT Company, need to plan for the project, estimate the time and cost
needed to complete the project. The company understands it is not done deal yet
and the quote needs to be competitive. In spite of having enough IT skilled staff,
the companies have failed to win last two projects. Hence, the company has
decided to use external PM to quote for this project.

Assuming you are a self- employed project manager, you have been approached by
27*7 company to plan this project.

What would be your role as PM on this project?

You are not going to develop or implement this project. Your task is only to plan this
project. You need to identify and list the task involved in the project. Estimate the
time duration for each task and also find the dependencies. You should produce a
Network Diagram with activity on node and clearly highlight the Critical Path.
Calculate the total duration required to finish the project.

Identify the key roles for the given project with their job description.

Considering the fact that company has lost two recent projects, company has
concerns over the leadership style and over the ability of PM to motivate the team.
How would you build and motivate your team. Justify the choice of leadership style
you would you adopt for this project.

While motivating the team is vital for any project, conflicts with the team are often
observed. Say, you have the time estimation given by two designers to design this
system has large difference and their vision conflicts, how do you manage the
situation?
