Parish Finances : Among the many things for you to pick up this week, there will be a financial statement
of the parish’s Income and Expenditure during 2010, which I will speak about during Mass. This is so that
everyone understands how well (or not) our resources are being stewarded, what commitments have already
been made and what more remains to be done. Please take a copy with you.
Let Us Pray the Mass : This week’s newsletter on the revised Roman Missal which comes into use in
October this year, focuses on ‘the Greeting’ and the Penitential Rite. As mentioned last week, the response
to the Greeting ‘The Lord be with you’ will change to ‘And with your spirit’ and those of you with longer
memories will also notice a change in the words of the ‘Confiteor.’ Next weekend there will be a Pastoral Letter
from the Bishops of England and Wales on this subject.
Confirmation :The next preparation session takes place in the Parish Centre immediately after Mass on
Sunday.
Emmaus Group : The final meeting of this year’s RCIA group takes place on Monday evening at 7pm. There
will then be a break until we start again in September. I have already had a number of enquiries from those
wishing to be received into the Church or adults seeking Confirmation. If there is anyone else who wishes to do
so, please come and speak to me about it.
Pastoral Area Working Group : on Tuesday evening there is a meeting of the Parish Representatives from the
Ashton parishes who are currently looking at what changes will be necessary from September. I hope to have
something more to say on this in the near future.
Flower Arranging will commence this Wednesday at 1.30pm in the Smith Room. Please see Betty Murton if
you are interested.
First Holy Communion: The final preparation meeting for parents and children will be held in Our Lady’s
School on Wednesday evening at 6.00pm.
Congratulations to Sarah Ryder and Stephen Nuttie who will be married at Our Lady’s next Saturday at 12
noon. ‘May the Lord bless you all the days of your life together.’
Walsingham Pilgrimage : There are still a small number of places still available for the parish Pilgrimage to
Walsingham from 17 - 19 August. Please see Fr John.
Last week’s collection ; Gift Aid : £467.15 Loose Plate : £241.20 Total : £708.35. Many Thanks.
Question of the Week : What does following the way of Jesus mean to you in your life right now?
Your Parish Priest: Fr. John Gorman
