Get MMS settings
To be able to send and receive MMS messages (picture or music messages), your
network subscription must support picture messages and you must have MMS settings in
your phone. These settings may already be in your phone when you buy it. If your phone
misses the MMS settings at purchase, you can easily download the settings directly from
your phone.

Note: If your phone can´t download the settings, contact your network operator.
Cedar™

You can also get MMS settings via your phone.

To run Settings download:

1. Select Menu > Settings > User help.

2. Select Settings download > Continue.

Note: The first time you start your phone or insert a new SIM card, the Settings
download is triggered from the start-up wizard. You can run Settings download as many
times as you like from the Settings menu.

MTNL Trump 3G Jadoo Card Experience

with 119 comments

14 Votes

Update: For people looking for better rate for data usages,
there are many available plans out in Delhi region. As per my view,
there are three, which should suit people in the following ways:

1. People with occasional usages: Rs. 450/- for 1 Gb

2. People with good usages: Rs. 1500/- for 15 Gb Currently not
available
3. People with high usages: Rs. 2500/- for Unlimited usages

Like Chandan said in its Review over MTNL 3G, even I was not having a
positive feeling about PSU Telecom Products. Although I have seen like
my colleague B. S. Negi said what goes with Government Product that
once set to work, they will work flawlessly, although you have to wait
endlessly in case any fault occurs in the same.

I have used BSNL Dialup in Azamgarh, BSNL Broadband in Allahabad,

Idea Internet (GPRS, PC) in Azamgarh, New Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi
etc., Aircel (GPRS, PC) in New Delhi and I could say that I got BSNL
Broadband and Idea only good enough to rely on till now. Till now, I
was on Idea Internet, even after they raised prices (earlier it was 5 Rs.
per day for Unlimited Use and now its 20 Rs. per day for Unlimited Use)
as its the best option, if you have edge in your area. All other options
are more costly, if you are a heavy user.

Anyway, I was writing over MTNL 3G. I bought it from a local shop as
the MTNL guy didn’t showed up for 2 days and then it was a total one
day wait for getting the SIM activated. The excuse was server problem.
Pretty funny!!! for the company giving first 3G for connectivity.
Initial reception was good and I was able to get
around 350 kbps download speed and
relatively poor upload speed of about 50-
70 kbps on my cell. Although still remained
was connecting it to PC. After searching over
Internet, I got Chandan’s link and it resolved
the issue. The solution was to use Nokia PC
Suit and choosing to configure connection
manually and putting pps3g as access point
and leaving all other fields blank.

For the people, not using Nokia PC Suit, I found another get around.

Go to Control Panel, then Modem, Choose modem and put

[at+cgdcont=1,"ip","pps3g"] without brackets, then simply create a
dialup in known way and you are set to go.

[at+cgdcont=1,"ip","gprsmtnldel"]

What I am still feeling trouble here is the UMTS network reception in

my room. I get all network line or most of them, but still I guess, I am
not getting proper network with MTNL UTS here. If I put it in UMTS only
mode, then I could actually see when 3G network is dipping. That’s
causing one more issue heating up my cell as Network is constantly
interchanging or discovering mode. These trouble are holding me to
recharge the cell for unlimited data plan which is costing Rs. 2500/-
per month, although other options are available like Rs. 250 for 0.5
GB and Rs. 450/- for 1GB.

Although for the users who want to go for it and searching that
whether it will work in their area or not. Here is the 3G Map provided
by MTNL Delhi
Although still I
get the famous Error 734: The PPP link control protocol was
terminated (Thanks to poor network reception in my room) while
connecting to internet. This is an error from Server Side, if you are not
getting proper network reception. With this error, I guess you can’t do
anything about except waiting to get it resolved on your own or
restarting your cell again and again

Relieved from the above mention error after changing the area. Now, if
I face any trouble then I check the balance. It has been happen
sometimes that services might be down, but seems to be stable than
early days now.

3. I am not sure Suman, why you are still facing the issue. If you have Nokia PC
Suit, then its matter of seconds and if you have not then its a little bit tricky.

You have to make a connection using your Nokia Modem first and then go to
control panel, then find the modem and then go to advanced tab and write the
command I given to put.

5. As I wrote “The solution was to use Nokia PC Suit and choosing to configure

IN PC Suit there would be an option for connect to internet, go through that.

Press Settings then Next
Choose to configure manually check box and
Just fill access point textbox with pps3g

Note that you should also have MTNL’s 3G Settings in your cell.. it would be
with the name of HSPDA-GPRS-Prepaid or whatever the case may be in your
case.

Hope these instructions may help you out

9. Best be using Sony PC Suit and using Internet Connection tab there. Change the
access point to pps3g and it should work, if your phone is connected to Laptop
over PC.

If your Laptop not getting connected with Phone over bluetooth, then its another
issue that you will be needed to figure out.

10. Its easy if you are using Windows XP

1- type ncpa.cpl in run
2- create a new dialup conenction using Phone modem with standard settings
3- Keep username and password fields blank
4- Now, open control panel, go to phone and modem option
5- In second tab Advanced, choose the phone modem (must be on some com
port).
6- Go to properties of the same and then to advanced of the modem properties
page
7- Here you will find a box name Initialization command
paste the below code as it is:
at+cgdcont=1,”ip”,”pps3g”

now use the dialup connection and it should connect, if you are using MTNL
Prepaid. For postpaid, I am not sure that the same access point works or not!!
even in that case, You will needed to know access point and put the same in
initialization command in place of pps3g

As about your error “Subscribe to Packet Data”, you seem not subscribed to
particular plan HSPDA or 3G one or might be the case that its not added in the
default connection of phone.

Try to get settings from Subscriber side and then save it as default. It should work

36. Aditya!! I guess the reason behind the same must be your set itself. Nokia 7210
Supernova doesn’t have 3G means you are bound to get a maximum of 232 kbps
that’s a max for Class 32/ Edge, if I am not wrong.

I managed to get around 115 kbps or a little more in most of the scenarios means
a max of 15 kbps speed you will get while downloading. If your set would have
3G, then it was another story I guess

45. Vinay,

First connect your cell via Nokia PC Suit in Vista, then check in control panel,
there must be a modem in name of your Nokia N95. Then you have go through
“Connect Internet” option in Nokia PC Suit.

Here in setting, choose Nokia Software Modem as modem and then put pps3g as
access point and leave rest as blank. Now, try to connect and it should go for sure.

If not activated GPRS on your set, then you could send ACTGPRS to 444 to
activate. For manual settings, you need to create a new access point in your cell
yourself with settings as I mentioned in other comments.

from your provider that would be MTNL.

To activate 3G service
Prepaid : SMS `ACT 3G` to 444
Postpaid : Dial 1503

But as you said you already got activated connection (though I am not sure), then
it might be the case that access point setting is wrong somewhere.. make sure the

o Network Availability and Subscription are two different things. My

bro’s phone in Azamgarh, UP showing 3G but 3G not activated in UP yet,
neither do he is able to access net.

That’s why I mentioned that you should try that. Though I doubt that the
keyword would be same. Confirm Customer care once.

when i connect my phone to pc it shows “Subscribe to Packet Data first”.
When i choose settings on my phone “TRUMP GPRS”, my gprs is working fine

What could be the problem with my service provider or with my phone?

o Good news is.. Your handset supports 3G.

Bad news is .. G doesn’t stands for 3G, it will show up like 3.5G and
Trump GPRS settings are for Phone only not PC.

Your 3G seems not activated as of now. It will show up as 3G-GPRS-

Prepaid. Get that activated with help of Customer care first. It should work
then.

For PC connectivity, following the instructions in my comments above.

o The most easy shot would be looking at if you are not running out of
balance at first place, secondly check if everything right with your 3.5G

If both the things are fine and even it doesn’t work then it might be issue
related to settings or from the backend

o The following instructions should help you in creating a dial up for MTNL
3G internet on your Laptop

Its easy if you are using Windows XP

1- type ncpa.cpl in run
2- create a new dialup conenction using Phone modem with standard
settings
3- Keep username and password fields blank
4- Now, open control panel, go to phone and modem option
5- In second tab Advanced, choose the phone modem (must be on some
com port).
6- Go to properties of the same and then to advanced of the modem
properties page
7- Here you will find a box name Initialization command
paste the below code as it is:
at+cgdcont=1,”ip”,”pps3g”

now use the dialup connection and it should connect, if you are using
MTNL Prepaid. For postpaid, I am not sure that the same access point
works or not!! even in that case, You will needed to know access point
and put the same in initialization command in place of pps3g

o Try this ..

Go to Settings -> Phone -> Network -> Network Mode

and set that to UMTS mode.

Then it will run only 3G not 2G, though will drain battery as 3G does.

If your Internet will be working then, it has 3G activated and you have
settings.

If Internet doesn’t work, then you need to get the setting or manually
create the settings

That will be something like

you don’t need any other APN , you can check by speed
and bandwidth provided to you, 2g service support only
around 144 kbps and 3g service support 2Mbps bandwidth
and minimum 256kbps speed on your phone/pc , i am using
3g on my phone Nokia2730c but in my case my phone
support only around 384kbps bandwidth it is showing on

But main thing is that, i am not getting enough speed on pc. My max downloading

Is there any solution for this? Oe any apn for 3g?

fyi. pps3g is also not working.

Reply

o Mate, the download speed you get is in fact 1/8 of the speed mentioned. Its
difference of bits and bytes. Means if we are talking about 1.6 mbps then
download speed you get via IDM etc will be around 200 kbps. Means 45
kbps going around 512 kbps for you.

You must test your connection again speedtest.net That will clear the
confusion. It also depends on what you downloading and from where you
downloading. If they have restricted their upload speeds, then you can not
gain more.

Next, your set has 3.6 HSDPA but 3.5 mpbs of speed that come through
3.5G is spread over a GSM cell and shared among all the users connected
to the same cell. That explains lower speeds at some places.
