Software Requirement
1 English Win2003 CD
2 English WinXP Pro SP2 CD
3 Driver CD

Step1 Install Win2003

Step2 Configure NetWork

 Click on “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” and click on Properties

Click on “Use the following IP address” and enter 192.168.0.1 as IP address and
255.255.255.0 as Subnet mask then click OK

Step3 Install Active Directory

Click on “Manage Your Server”
Click on “Add or remove a role”
Click on Next
The following window will be displayed

Click on “Continue”
Select “Custom configuration” and click on Next
Select “Domain Controller …” and click on Next

Click on Next

Click on Next
Click on Next
Click on Next
Select “No, just install and configure DNS on this computer” and click on Next
Type a Domain name in the input
Leave the name automatically entered and click on
Next
Leave the default value and click on Next, the following window will be displayed
Click on OK

Click on “Browse”
Select “c:\WINDOWS\I386” and click on Open
Check the path and click on OK, the following windows will be displayed
Click on Finish
Click on “Restart Now” to restart the server
After the reboot the following window will appear, click on Finish

Step4 Install and Configure DHCP Server

Launch the “Manage Your Server” window and click on “Add or remove a role”
Click on Next
Click on Continue
Select “DHCP Server” and click on Next

Click on Next, the following windows will be displayed

Click on Next
Type Deploy as Scope Name

Enter the “Start IP address”:

For example: 192.168.0.5
Enter the “End IP address”:
For example: 192.168.0.254
Leave default value and click on Next

Enter 20 minutes and click on Next

Select “No, I will configure these options later” and click on Next
Click On Finish

Click on Finish
Click on
Start,
All Programs, Administrative Tools,
DHCP
Right click on the “serverxx…” named scope and click on Authorize
Click on Action and then click on Refresh
Right click on “Scope […” and click on Activate
Verify the Scope status, it must be activated
Right click on “Serverxx …” and click on Properties
Click on Bindings

Verify that only the RIS_NIC is checked

Step5 Installing RIS

Click on Start,
Control Panel,
“Add or Remove Programs”
Click on “Add/Remove Windows Components”

Select “Remote Installation Services” and click on Next, the next window will
appear

When the Browse window appears, click on Browse, the path Windows\I386
must be selected automatically, then click on open
This window appears

Click on Finish

Click on Yes to restart the server

Step6 Configure RIS Server

Click on Start,
Administrative Tools,
Remote Installation Setup

Click on Next
Leave default value and click on Next

Note: 此分區必須是NTFS 格式。空間要足夠大以存放Image 文件.

Note: 需要遠程安裝的OS語言版本最好與Server 的語言版本一致，如果不一致，
則要改動*.OSC 屏幕向導文件。
Note: 需要遠程安裝的OS的CD 最好 是單一的，不用那種三合一的OS CD.可直接
Copy整張CD.

Select “Respond to client computers requesting service” and click on Next

Cl;ick on NEXT

Insert a Windows XP Home installation CD in the CDROM Drive and click on

Next
Leave default value and click on Next
Click on Finish, the following window will be displayed

This window will appear during 10 to 15 minutes

When the process is complete click on Done

Step7 How to add a third-party OEM network adapter to a RIS
installation

Note: 此步驟中一定要注意LAN driver 必須是For RIS driver, 與一般Win2K or

WinXP Driver 是不同的。
PXE Function Test for Windows XP:
a) Add client end driver in PXESERVER.
1. Create file directory in \RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\WinXP
as below: RemoteInall\Setup\English\Images\WinXP \ $oem$ \$1
\drivers
2. At above “drivers” directory, create three file folders “LAN “, “AUDIO”,
“VGA”, and “MODEM”.
3. Copy clients’ LAN, Audio, VGA and Modem drivers to the above
related folders.
4. Synchronously copy all LAN card’s driver files to
\Remote Install\Setup\English\Images \ WinXP\I386.
b) Modify ristndrd.sif document.
1. In \Remote Install\Setup\English\Images \ WinXP\I386\Templates
folder, use NOTEPAD to open Ristndrd.sif document.
2. Modify[Unattended] as below:
[Unattended]
OemPreinstall = Yes
3. Add below content in [Unattended]:
[Unattended]
DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore
OemPnpDriversPath = “drivers\LAN, drivers\AUDIO,
drivers\VGA, drivers\MODEM”
4. Add below content in [UserData]:
[UserData]
ProductID = XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
以上步驟做完，重啟Server, 然後設置Client boot from PXE, 然後可以開始測試。

如要安裝其他hotfix and Application, 可以copy them to Drivers 目錄下。在系統遠

程安裝完畢後，在客戶端C:\下會有一個Drivers 文件裌，找到要安裝的軟體和driver,
在本機安裝即可。
