SUMMARY:
Have had extensive experience for civilian and military organizations in safety
management overseeing single and multiple site operations in manufacturing and c
onstruction with progressive levels of achievement.
QUALIFICATIONS & ACHIEVEMENTS:
*HSE Coordinator for KBR; conducted and completed safety/quality inspections, tr
aining, and investigations including injury, property damage, fire, electrical,
hazardous chemical release, and motor vehicle incidents. Responsible for five si
tes in southern Iraq over safety for operations, primarily fuel storage and dist
ribution operations.
*Oversaw safety and risk management responsibilities for three commercial heavy
construction projects in Georgia totaling 60 million dollars with only two recor
dable injuries during a two year period as the Site Safety Engineer for Turner C
onstruction.
*HSE Supervisor for Halliburton; managed a Health, Safety and Environment depart
ment for a major construction projects over a ten-man department responsible in
"Operation Iraq Freedom" for 4,000 military and civilian personnel.
*Managed for development and administration of company safety program nationwide
involved large construction projects for eight years as Invensys Corporate Safe
ty Manager; a military contracts company, including project management for sever
al projects ranging from $300K to $3.5M. Completed all projects without incident
, i.e. gas line installation, bulk fuel tank renovation, building renovation, as
bestos / lead abatement, boiler and cooling tower installation, confined space w
ork, heavy duty electrical installation.
*Continued as Safety and Quality Manager for two years for Invensys responsible
for safety and quality program compliance, procedure development, and training e
mployees on the Atlas V Project, Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral, Florida. M
anaged safety programs simultaneously for the launch site and the corporation. A
lso, included quality control of equipment installation. Achieved lowest acciden
t rate of all contractors on-site; one recordable injury and zero lost time inju
ries. Achieved accident rates less than one-tenth of the construction industry
average.
*Established and implemented safety and loss prevention program as the first Saf
ety Supervisor for Indicom Buildings, a mid-size modular building manufacturer;
created a safety program manual for the company, including an emergency response
plan, accident prevention training, first-aid and follow-up procedures for medi
cal treatment, and worker's compensation management.
*Safety Engineer for US Agri- Chemicals; conducted employee safety training, pla
nt audits, field inspections, industrial hygiene surveys and monitoring for the
company's chemical operations.
*Safety Administrator for Consolidated Castings; managed safety programs at two
mid-size foundry plants, employing 600 personnel including environmental managem
ent programs at both plants; developed and implemented procedures for waste chem
ical management; CFR 40 EPA requirements; air permitting standards; "NPDES" Natu
ral Pollution Discharge Control program; EPA waste storage and disposal transpor
t management. Achieved lowest accident and worker's compensation rate in the ind
ustry via company's self-insured program.
*Safety Engineer for Texas Instruments managed the safety program for a metal fa
brication and machining operations facility of one of the country's leading elec
tronics/computer companies with zero recordable injuries for a one year period.
*Developed ergonomics & workstation design program for two major food-processing
companies for Portion-Trol Foods and Sky Chefs as Safety Supervisor.
*Safety Specialist for Abbott Laboratories managed the health and safety program
for two manufacturing sites of pharmaceutical chemicals and diagnostic computer
hardware; implemented industrial hygiene and environmental impact controls, onl
y two reportable recordable injuries for a over two years.
*Safety Manager for Johnson & Johnson 800 employee textile processing and medica
l supply manu- facturing facility; improved the company's safety program through
creating an effective safety training program and a management/employee plant s
afety committee that fostered a workplace safety culture.
*As a safety engineer for U.S. Steel managed the safety program for 800-employee
steel production division; assisted in development of accident reduction strate
gies for implementation throughout the facility; developed and upgraded job safe
