Accomplishments: Reversed revenue losses and solved persistent customer service
problems by restructuring distribution operations to improve customer service a
nd cut costs; results included 18% reduction in operating costs, improvement in
on-time shipping performance to 91% from 47%, and $500,000 savings in transporta
tion costs.
* Improved profitability by moving machine assembly processes from a high-cost f
actory in Germany to a low-cost manufacturing plant in the Czech Republic result
ing in a 27% reduction in unit cost. * Successfully led the implementation of t
he Sales & Distribution and Warehouse Management modules during migration from l
egacy systems to SAP v4.6C global instance. * Resolved major supplier managemen
t problem by consolidating supplier base by half resulting in inventory reductio
ns of over $1 million and more than 10% purchased cost savings. * Developed and
implemented automated interface between SAP and UPS Europe's shipping and track
ing systems cutting distribution staffing requirements by 2 FTEs and improved cu
stomer service by making shipping and tracking information readily and automatic
ally available in SAP. * Led business process re-engineering effort in manufact
uring operation that lowered machine set-up times and reduced standard order qua
ntities resulting in over $1 million in inventory reductions. * Advocated for a
private label contract with Italian manufacturer and secured exclusive North Am
erican marketing rights for high-powered commercial vacuum cleaner line.

Accomplishments: Led successful logistics network re-design and 3PL selection p
rocesses for North American distribution operations resulting in a 15% cost redu
ction for distribution operations. * Successfully mentored and developed small
disadvantage and minority suppliers into large-scale/multi-million dollar provid
ers for Tennant's supply chain operation. * Developed five-year outsourcing agre
ement with Exel Logistics to operate Tennant's North American distribution cente
rs and managed ongoing operations in partnership with Exel. Negotiated 10% redu
ction in truckload and less-than-truckload freight rates. * Lead the implementa
tion team for the SD module of SAP during initial migration and multiple upgrade
s. * Saved 10% in annual cost and improved shipping lead time to 4 days from 7
days by designing a direct-delivery, multi-stop truck load delivery process and
by changing out padded van carriers. * Achieved significant duty and tax saving
s for products sold in Canada and Mexico through implementation of ongoing manag
ement of NAFTA compliance process. * Resolved a longstanding issue with customs
compliance for import/export materials by creating and staffing a customs compl
iance team that correctly classified over 75,000 products that Tennant distribut
ed globally. * Successfully defended Tennant's position on import duties in dis
pute with Revenue Canada/Canadian Customs by presenting information from customs
regulations and Canada case law.
Additional relevant experience includes Materials Manager and other materials ma
nagement and new product development positions at Tennant Company.
