SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
Increased sales over 100% by introducing a creative "Networking & Marketing" str
ategy. Statewide competition in the new multi-unit housing market was eroding m
arket share for the company. Developed and implemented a marketing strategy tha
t focused on the initial owner/developer relationship. Built strategic alliance
s through networking with Architects, Civil Engineers and owner/developers. Thi
s network enabled all parties to benefit from sharing new business with one anot
her. Results: The new relationships increased sales from $22 million to $48 mi
llion within 1 year.
Improved Gross Profit Margins through improving workforce efficiency. Gross marg
ins were 6% in lieu of projected 35% margins. Developed and implemented an emplo
yee cross-training strategy that reduced the number of employees needed to compl
ete a project. Results: Reduced the total staff hours to complete a project, cr
eated a "team" environment, and improved margins from 6% to 32%.
Invested in a $65,000 computer based scheduling software solution and saved over
$900,000. Manually coordinating all facets of a large-scale residential constru
ction project was delaying home completion costing thousands of dollars in cost
overruns. Deployed a scheduling software solution that tracked and coordinated
supplies deliveries and sub-contractors' work schedules. Results: Average build
cycle was reduced from 142 calendar days to 121 days, saving the Division $924,
000 per year.
Created new revenue stream of over $500,000 using existing resources. Property
owners required that their rental properties were well maintained. This service
was often contracted by each property owner resulting in inconsistent service f
rom many sub contractors. Implemented a third party construction management ser
vice with a fee schedule of 5-7% of all Gross Construction volume. Results: $6
20,000 of new income generated in the first year of the program without adding a
ny additional overhead in staff.
Developed new employee sourcing and recruiting strategy targeting military profe
ssionals. Qualified field supervisors were in great demand and the available po
ol of talent was scarce. Established a Career Marketing Plan to recruit career
military professionals into the home building business throughout the state. Re
sults: A virtually unlimited pool of highly qualified candidates became availabl
e for hire and quality jobs were provided to a highly valued group of profession
als.
