TIME EVENT:

<<Uncounted millennia ago>>: Creation of the galaxy. Emergence of the “C'Tan” (Eldar epithet) and
the Old Slann (origination unknown, very likely a shortening of a descriptive epithet). The Warp is a
placid domain, devoid of intelligence. The C'Tan and the Old Slann seed many worlds for life, in the
hopes that their creations will aid them in their struggle against the other. Both the Orks and the Eldar
may be Old Slann creations, whilst the beings known as “Metal Ones” or “Stable/Unchanging Ones”
are clearly the spawn of the C'Tan.
?: THE WAR IN HEAVEN. The C'Tan, allied with the “Unchanging”, launch a vast assault against the
Old Slann, unleashing weapons too terrifying to imagine, churning the Warp into a frenzied sea of
horrid energies, deadly to the Old Slann. The Old Slann prevail against the C'Tan and their minions via
the construction of the “Webway”(Eldar phrase), a galactic corridor linking one location with another
for instantaneous transport. The same arcane technology was used to seal the C'Tan behind the Gate of
Vaul (Eldar phrase). The Old Slann contain the essence of the barrier within the “Seven Talismans of
Vaul”, but the C'Tan contingency plan exacted a terrible toll on the young galaxy.

~60,000,000,000 BC : GALAXY WIDE CATASTROPHE. Faced with extinction, the

“Unchanging”constructed actual metal (or other elemental) bodies as repositories for their hyper-
advanced minds. To weather the impending galatic bio-meltdown, they construct huge stasis chambers
to shelter inside. NOTE: The C'Tan are believed to have caused the near-extinction of life in the galaxy
at this time. Why this is, is unknown. It is possible, though not certain, that the C’Tan, as primal and
“advanced” as they are thought to be, are capable of jealous, nihilistic spite, just as many tyrants in any
other races have been. They MAY have engineered the disaster merely as a rebuke at not “winning the
war”.
<<During this point, many sentients and other species were erased from existence. There is no evidence
as to what the Galaxy’s population was like, as it was denuded almost entirely. Only occasional fossils
of simple amino acids remain to allude to some presence of organic life-as-we-know-it. There may
have been a “proto-Eldar” species that survived in enough numbers to be used as a “test-bed” for the
new race, but this is speculation>>

~1,000,000 B.C.: Final creation of the race known to Humans as the “Eldar”; these psychically-talented
sentients begin their tenure as one of the last connections between their (supposed) creators, the “Old
Slann” and the Universe’s new sentients. Even in the earliest tales of the Young Eldar, some races
similar to what will be known as “Orks” appear. Unsurprisingly, even these ancient Orkoids are
considered vicious, marauding calamities-on-legs.
~9000 BC: <<Apocryphal>> Supposedly, the birth of the EMPEROR, an “ immortal superhuman
created from the psychic spoor of the old shamans, who predicted a time when mankind would need a
saviour from evil (in the Age of Strife)”. Highly unlikely, as the Emperor was reported (by more than
one of the Primarchs’ treatises) to tell all sorts of tall tales about “His” origin and true identity.
~(Sometime)BC - 1400 AD: “Birth”, or at least recorded evidence of extant Stable Warp Phenomena
appearing within confines of Material Space. No evidence that the names of KHORNE, TZEENTCH,
NURGLE, or any of the millions of variants thereof, are used or have any recognition, the last
especially likely to have been invented by ancient Humans. No other race feels compelled to attach
permanent names to these “beings”, nor in fact to view them always as singular “identities”. The
presumed-“Gods’” presence in the Warp, mirrors the increasing complexities of the Galaxy’s sentients.
”K” takes form from the death-urge and lust to annihilate “the other” that increasing self-awareness
brings to many advanced sentient beings. “T” materializes from “betrayal and sorcery”; the ability to
abstract and formulate ideas concerning things that aren’t physically evident, which allows for lying
and reasoned argument, prose and poetry, science, and development of controlled psychic powers.
“N” rises from the need of corporeal sentience to resist the vagaries of time and decay, and the conflict
within their reason between the futile resistance to death, and the fatalistic acceptance of it.
Other beings reported, though these archetypes remain surprisingly stable.

~10,000 B.C. to ~1400 AD?: ELDAR learn secrets of stable “Webway” technology, supposedly from
the “Slann”. Much Eldar culture dies out or changes rapidly at this time. “Slann” (supposedly) warn
Eldar of their own Fall, though further anecdotes relate these warnings may have been dream-portents
or, in fact, utterly fanciful.
<<Humans started existing as somewhat-sentient beings around this time. Many non-humans argue the
exact date that this occurred, or in fact, if it ever did>>
2,100 AD: MARS terraformed by Humans.
2,200 AD: Mars settled (by Humans, this time).
3,000 AD: WARP discovered (by Humans, who are sure that it’s been “undiscovered” until now).
<<Human “civilization”, such as it is, does a grand trick of progressing technically and mechanically,
while remaining essentially the same socially and psychologically. Which is to say, often given to
acting irrational and contrary to the interests of the species as a whole. In fact, acting contrary to
anyone’s interests whatsoever, in the most extravagant and brutal way possible, is a hallmark of Human
behavior for most of the species’ first 12,000 years. Little changes in the next 40,000, of course, save
that Human thuggery is matched and eclipsed by their close companions and deadly enemies, the
Orks>>

~2,500-3500 AD: Sublight spacecraft begin slowly colonizing nearby stars. At first progress is slow,
and the new colonies must survive as independent units isolated from Earth by up to ten generations of
travel. Many new, interesting, completely desperate outposts of Humanity set up grubby, angry
outposts throughout a cold and inhospitable Universe. Which properly sets the tone for the Alien Wars
with the Orks and the Eldar that happen later (see below).

<<Many Human civilizations wax and wane from 3,500 to ~10,000 A.D., some of which never know
Earth. Some are eaten by aliens, some are blown up by one another, some consume themselves. A
lucky few scrabble hard enough to become survivors for the duration. This time has no name, as it is
sort of suffused into the overall mythology of Old Night, or the Dark Age of Technology>>
~10,000-15,000: ‘DARK AGE’ OF TECHNOLOGY. Discovery/ genetic creation of NAVIGATORS
as a stable genotype, and development of WARP DRIVE aid colonization. Galaxy explored, though not
very thoroughly, in less than 1,000 years. STC developed. TITANS invented.
Serious first use of what will later be known as the Dark Sciences, such as experiments to unlock
previously-latent “psionics”, and genetic tampering such as “nano-machined biology”. Many, many
disastrous uses of True Artificial Intelligences, leading to much embarrassment and a few serious
unplanned nuclear exchanges.
The Great Diaspora- humans seek to remake galaxy in their own image, including seeding worlds
with familiar animals. This is great news for the rats and mosquitoes, but does little immediate good for
anyone else.

~13,000-21,000: ALIEN WARS. Mankind encounters and fights with ORKS, ELDAR. Not that they
hadn’t been beating on one another before, but now it’s purposeful and culturally-principled, and is
seen as “Job Number One”, rather than being an incidental thing merely necessary to the overall
scheme of survival. Lots of nuclear weapons used to “cleanse” whole systems of Ork “infestation”.
Similarly, lots of Vortex Generators, Distortion Cannon Arrays, and Psychic Force Beam Emissions are
used by Eldar to cleanse those same systems of “human infestation” .The Orks, loving the activity and
spectacle, commit to a sustained policy of “Hitting Things with Asteroids/Bombardments/As Many
Steel-capped Boots As Possible”, which differs from their usual behavior only by a matter of degree.

23,000-24,000: AGE OF STRIFE. Appearance and cataloguing of PSYCHIC POWERS outside the
scope of previously-known psychic incidence. WARP ENTITIES are noted within confines of Material
Space for extended periods of time. Earth and Near Colonies cut off by WARP STORMS. Appearance
of (Stable, Catalogued) ABHUMANS that aren’t specific to deliberately-created types. MANKIND
AT SPECIES WAR. STC system lost. AGE OF ISOLATION- Squat worlds cut off. Formation of
LEAGUES.

24,000: HORIAX TREATISE mentions genetic alteration techniques that have been recovered from
Age of Strife. This knowledge (somehow) makes it to Terra, eventually.

27,000: CIVIL WAR on Earth (still). Earliest modified warriors aid the Emperor in conquest of Terra.
At this point in time, many Human philosophies tend towards a anthropocentric, “species-purity” ethos
which transcends scientific understanding and is innately superstitious. Records show that “the
Emperor” evidently either believed this as well, or used this point of view in order to bolster “His”
ideological power over others.
29,500?: Appearance of EMPEROR as sole most powerful warlord on Terra. Earth tribes united.
Imperium begins. AGE OF TRADE- Squats trade with Orks (!?) and Eldar (lasts 3000 yrs).
28,000: PRIMARCH PROJECT. 20 “Primarchs” <slang?> created by Emperor (supposedly, these
were all just single humans, rather than being many iterations, though one wonders why all that
research and energy would then be put into twenty easily-lost individuals). Embryos are “scattered
through the warp by “Chaos”/Warp Vortex/Ambiguous “Science Disaster”. Clearly apocryphal.
GREAT CRUSADE begins.

<<It is much more likely that the Emperor’s people had the nascent super-beings put through their
paces in gigantic life-experiments on other worlds or confined in world-arrays a la The Truman
Show. To presume “He” lost them, then had to track them down one by one, is far-fetched to say the
least. Especially considering the likelihood of even an infant “primarch” surviving an unplanned Warp
Translation is statistically impossible…>

28,500?: AGE OF WARS: Squats betrayed by Eldar (surprise!), savaged by Ork Empires’ expansion.
28,600?: FIRST FOUNDING. Presumed 20 Chapters/Legions of SPACE MARINES created from
gene seed samples that survived from the Primarch Project .

28,700?: ELDAR build CRAFT SHIPS big enough to keep their entire trillions on, but this time not
just for fun. Finally heeding the Slann “warnings” contained in old transcriptions, they prepare in case
there is (another) pan-Galactic disaster, or similar occurrence.
28,800?: FALL OF THE ELDAR. Hey, that was quick! Eldar society collapses; this collapse
supposedly creates “Chaos god” colloquially known as SLAANESH. <<Learned people understand
this not to be the case. The death of Eldar on such a scale did lend to the refinement of a previously-
dormant Warp Phenomenon thought to be an aspect of the “T”-variant Phenomenon. Hardly a
malevolent “god”, though, ‘ey wot? However, Eldar propagate this myth to frighten the hominids, and
to appear tragic and romantic>>.

Eldar Homeworlds lost in creation of EYE OF TERROR, a vast stable Warp-tempest. Possibly due to
this new disturbance, a relative settling of the WARP STORMS within the area of Human habitation,
allowing for a cease to the recorded AGE OF STRIFE.

28,812 (may be as early as 28,000): GREAT CRUSADES. Primarchs “rediscovered” and united
with their Marine Chapters. Human galaxy reclaimed under PAX IMPERIALIS (or at least the frantic
claims to having done so).
28,826: (Apocryphal, Secondhand)- During banquet honoring pacification of the Cheraut system in
M38, Lord Princeps Ichabod Lethrai tells tale of :
(…)Conflict between primarchs Konrad Kurze and Rogal Dorn. Shortly after their duel, Kurze
disappeared, taking his fleet to Nostramo and destroying the planet, the first step in a campaign of
terror touching much of the Night Lords’ history, and being a touchstone to Kurze eventually
renouncing the Emperor.

~28,500: GREAT CRUSADES continue. Accelerated gene-culturing used to fill need for vast numbers
of Marines leads to genetic flaws. Enables a Space Marine to be processed in a single year.

29,125 ?(Debatable): LUNAR WOLVES renamed Sons of Horus.

29,350: KARIS CEPHALON resettled during Great Crusade.

30,012: SCOURING OF ISSTVAN III. Warmaster HORUS, with 4 other traitor Space Marine
Legions, virus bomb Isstvan III to suppress a minor rebellion. Frigate EISENSTEIN escapes with news
of Horus' corrupt activities.

30,013: HORUS HERESY. Seven Legions sent against Horus, but four defect to his side and three are
destroyed. Marine fights Marine in battles across the Galaxy.
30,014 (13th of Secundus): SIEGE OF EARTH. Horus lays siege to Emperor's Palace. Emperor
teleports on board Horus' battle barge. Sanguinius killed. Horus mortally wounded. Emperor wounded,
placed in Golden Throne.
30,014-30,021: GREAT SCOURING. Rebel forces throughout the galaxy are quelled. “Heretic”forces
retreat into the Eye of Terror.
30,021?: Dionerius' "Rise of Man" describes the 13th Company of the Space Wolves, known
colloquially as “the Wulfen” or “Die Lupendrengir”, and how they entered the Eye of Terror to pursue
the traitor legions at the end of the Horus Heresy. Primarch Guilliman and Dorn did not want to lose
Marines to such a campaign and advised against it, though it is not clear whether Russ sent the Wulfen
in or if they went of their own accord. The 13th, known to be contrary, and to harbor secret augments
and Dark Biological enhancements known only to their Apothecaries, were never seen or heard from
again.

30,021?: Roboute Guilliman compiles the first CODEX ASTARTES, which lays down a new
organizational doctrine for Space Marine chapters. It is widely disputed, and the only true adherence to
it concerns Legions divesting themselves of much of their allied PDF/Guard and Naval Regiments
under their immediate command. Some good comes in the form of “transparency” to the various levels
of the Administratum and Inquisition by various Legions. Otherwise, its recommendations to purge and
slim down Chapter numbers are only cursorily obeyed.
30,021: SECOND FOUNDING. Marine Legions are broken into new Chapters in an attempt to divide
the strengths of the Legions. 23 new chapters are created. However, almost immediately, these
Successor Chapters are pledged in secret to retain old ties, and to augment their numbers up to original
strengths. Thus, the “slimming–down” has only a temporary effect of a few centuries.
30,021: Grey Knights secretly created.
30,021?: Bjorn the Fell Handed becomes first Great Wolf after Russ disappears. After being fatally
wounded, spends the next 500 years at the forefront of Space Wolves battles as a Dreadnought.

~30,23-30,90: Innumerable new “Nth-founding Chapters” created (3rd through 12th Foundings).
30,084: Jaghatai Khan disappears while fighting Dark Eldar on Corusil V, near the Maelstrom.
Presumably he pursued a Dark Eldar Lord through an alien portal that led into the dimension occupied
by the Dark Eldar (Commarragh?).

30,100?: DARK FOUNDING (13th). Unknown number or fate of chapters. No record of the chapters
or sample of their gene seed is maintained by Adeptus Terra. <<…that is disseminated to Imperial
authorities, at any rate>>
31,000: The Space Wolf base, the Fang, is attacked by renegade Magnus the Red and the Thousand Kin
Legion as revenge for the destruction of Prospero.
31,000: The Temple of the Saviour Emperor is recognized as the official religion of the Imperium,
given the title of IMPERIAL CULT (also known as the ECCLESIARCHY).
31,200: Ecclesiarch Veneris II becomes a High Lord of Terra.
31,243: Inquisitor Damasko is the “first” to postulate that Warp Entities must use mortals to manifest
their power in the physical universe. He is the first to do so in the language of the new, superstitious
era, ignoring completely that the secular Imperium had already maintained records of this assumption
for over a millennium.
31,500: Ecclesiarch becomes a permanent position on the High Lords of Terra.
31,000+: Loyalist Primarchs reportedly die or disappear over the following millennia. Traitor Legion
Primarchs, in their continuing efforts to remain alive and relevant to their bandit Legions, become
mutated by overuse of rejuvenat drugs and “Black Biologies” proscribed by Men ages ago. Their
mental and physical corruption is played off as a deliberate act, by their followers, who from then on
refer to them as “Daemon Primarchs”. This superstition gains ground amongst the ignorant of the
Imperium .

33,000: FIRST BLACK CRUSADE (known as the BLACKSTAR CRUSADE). Renegade forces
emerge from the Eye of Terror to mount an incursion into the Ganglax Sector. Crazed “Champion of
Bloodshed” Ekrak conquers M'laan XIII and turns it into a slaughterhouse in apparent “worship” of a
colourful Warp Phenomenon he calls “Kharne” or “Khorne”.
34,000: The ECCLESIARCHY's power wanes.
34, 200: The ECCLESIARCHY under Benedin IV moves to Ophelia VII and again grows in power.
34,344: Initial Imperial surveys of ancient tomb complexes on Angelis (Gorkamorka). Later in M.35,
Ork Spacehulk crash-lands on Angelis, burying the humans alive around the temples. The survivors
descend into savagery, becoming the Diggas. Reports of 'ghost warriors' (re-awakened Necrons?)
allying with some members of the Diggas to subjugate the other tribes and repulse the Orks.

34,500: GREIGOR XI becomes Ecclesiarch, declares Ecclesiarchy will return to Earth.

34,359: Imperial Explorators gain access to deserted Necrontyr tombs on Angelis.

34,762-34,765: Tallarn scout squad "Lurenz's Gravediggers" harass Eldar forces on Holon Prime.

34, 843: Distress call from Grendel's World investigated- planet discovered to have been attacked and
all inhabitants slain by terror tactics of the Night Lords.
34,999(late M35)?: BATTLE OF THE BROADSWORD - Tallarn supresses the Chaemos Rebellion.

35, 266: SEBASTIAN THOR born on Dimmamar.

35,000: MYTHOS ANGELICA MORTIS written, including a description of the Emperor's Champion
in the Appendix CXVI "Honorifics of the Legions Astartes".

35,000?: CURSED FOUNDING (21st). Took place some time immediately before the Age of
Apostasy. Largest founding since the Second Founding. Experimentation conducted to create
improved, massive Space Marines goes awry. Fire Hawks, Flame Falcons, Black Dragons, and other
chapters are created with cursed gene seed. Some chapters mutated horribly. Flame Falcons
spontaneous and extreme psychological corruption turn them into a race no longer human or sane -
Chapters declared Excommunicate and driven from it's home world of Lethe by the Grey Knights.
35,000: AGE OF APOSTASY. Warp storms increase. Imperium in turmoil. Ecclesiarchy becomes
more tyrannical. Renegade, Ork, and other alien attacks increase. Zhoros (Fire Hawks' world) thermal
bombed. High Lord Vandire comes to power, converts the Daughters of the Emperor (also known as
the Adepta Sororitas, and the Sisters of Battle) to be his personal bodyguards. Sebastian Thor becomes
a threat to Vandire, but when Vandire sends the Frateris Templar fleet to destroy Dimmamar, the fleet
is wiped out by a Warp Storm in the Clax system. Vandire is finally defeated by combined forces of
Tech Guard, Space Marines and Adeptus Custodes under the Confederation of Light, led by Thor.
35,000: WARS OF VINDICATION. Shortly after the death of High Lord Goge Vandire, Tziz Jarek of
the Callidus Assassins, under Vandire's orders, kills the Grand Master of the Assassins and assumes his
identity - but it emerges the Grand Master had already replaced himself with another Callidus assassin,
and gathered assassins loyal to him to wage war against this usurper. Both sides used horrible weapons
of mass destruction. Finally the Grand Master assassinated Jarek and then disappeared in self imposed
exile. Inquisitor Jaeger, after investigating the wars, created the Ordo Sicarius to monitor the Officio
Assassinorum and prevent such an occurrence again.
35,288: DECREE PASSIVE. High Lords of Terra prohibits Ecclesiarchy from controlling any "men
under arms". Sebastian Thor forms the orders militant of the Adepta Sororitas.
35,298: SEBASTIAN THOR leaves the Ecclesiarchical palace and journeys throughout the Imperium
for 80 years, quelling heresy and apostasy.
35,300: THE PLAGUE OF UNBELIEF. Cardinal Bucharis, with Admiral Sehalla and Colonel Gasto,
carves a bloody empire from Gathalamor, stretching as far south as Bakka and north to Fenris, and
included the fleet at Hydraphur, Bucharis claimed that Earth was a lost cause and Gathalamor would be
the new center of faith. When his empire stretched into territories controlled by the Space Wolves, a
protracted space and land war broke out including a 3 year siege of the Space Wolves fortress, the
Fang.

35,378: SEBASTIAN THOR returns to Earth, dies at age 112. Ecclesiarch Alexis XXII, Thor's
successor, splits the Convent Sanctorum and Convent Prioris into two orders each, forming the Orders
Militant of the Ebon Chalice, Valorous Heart, Fiery Heart and Argent Shroud.
35,453: Beelze conflict- Eldar of the Alaitoc craftworld cause diplomatic contact with Lexicos Aldus
Mari to be broken.
36,563: Assassin Urhua Thereaux of the Venenum Temple sent to assassinate renegade Governor
Yawell. Ship was caught in a warp rift, holding the vessel in a temporal stasis for 698 years.
35,694: STC QUEST. Chief Artisan Tilius begins search for working STC.
35,694: Razorback STC discovered by Tilius.
35,776: 16th Armageddon Steel Legion on Cassell put down a rebellion by Cult of The Way of the
Emperor's Flesh in less than 6 hours.
36,361: Traitor Marines led by Orik the Vile (Alpha Legion) fight Cadians on Mihok Secundus.
37,261: Thereaux, unaware of the temporal stasis, proceeded to the target only to find the Governor
long since dead and replaced by an anti-Imperial committee with 1,000 members. Thereaux spent three
days poisoning all the chairs in the council's auditorium to kill all the members.
37,437: IYBRAESIL Eldar Craftworld first detected in West Quadrant, Segmentum Obscurus.
37,788: Ecclesiarch Deacis VI creates two more orders of Sororitas (Bloody Rose and Sacred Rose).
37,873: Explorator vessel Incalculus Stellar brings an alien edifice to Skopios asteroid research base.
The base is taken over by an unknown enemy (possibly C'Tan?), and is turned over to manufacture of
inhuman “Robotic types not conforming to proper andro-hominid standard”. Base destroyed, declared
Purgatus for 300 years.
38, 763: The Crusader pattern Land Raider is officially recognized by the Techpriests of Mars.

38,985: SQUAT CIVIL WAR. League THAN’ASUT fights League GRINVEGOT over
exploration of the Lost Stronghold of DARGON. Cyclops invented.

38,985: DONIAN CRUSADE. Black Templars clear the Donian sector of Orks.

38,998: “UNHOLY HARBINGER”. A space hulk breaks from warp near Cloras jump point.
39,433: Autarch of planet Krieg declares independence and renounces the Emperor's rule. Colonel
Jurten of Krieg 33rd unleashes a campaign of atomic cleansing that lasts 5 years, turns Krieg into
wasteland. From then on, Death Korps forces embark on quest of absolution, mainly by kicking the hell
out of other planets at the behest of the Adeptus terra and the Munitorum.
39,561: NEXXAS EXCULPATION. Emperor's Children Renegades fight Imperial Guard.
39,666: An Imperial patrol force engages alien “Robotics” warships in the Yucatan system. Only a
single Cobra destroyer escapes; when Imperial fleet returns, all colonists are missing.
39,675: The Hive World Vidium is lost to Dark Eldar.
39,924: A single Vindicare Imperial Assassin destroys a Gargant, terminating Warlord Urglak The
Unstoppable, on Roxanzand.

39,989: YME-LOC Eldar Craftworld first detected in Segmentum obscurus, West Quadrant.
40,085: By request of Inquisitor Scallen, Sisters of the Order of the Valorous Heart purge Hive
Tumulus (on planet Farglum) of the Cult Epicurian. This, it should be pointed out, leaves a mostly-
empty Hive, save for the vermin and rodents that take up the missing Hivers’ places.
40,139: Abaddon, former First Captain and now self-proclaimed “Warmaster” of the Sons of Horus
Rebels (BLACK LEGION), forces complete construction of the Planet Killer in the Eye of Terror.
40,142- 40,160: FIRST GOTHIC WAR. Abaddon uses the Planet Killer to lead a Black Crusade that
ravages the Gothic Sector. 40,154: the Planet Killer is finally destroyed. No traces of the remains are
found by Inquisitor Horst's investigation 2 years later.
40,213: Castaburg is invaded by Orks under Warlord Skarmork. Death Corps of Krieg counterattack.
40,273: Inquisitor Draco visits Stalinvast. Hydra found. Stalinvast destroyed.
40,342: Inquisitor Quixos declared Heretic and Extremis Diabolus by Inquisitor Eisenhorn. Eisenhorn
leads a cell that hunts down and kills Quixos 3 years later. (Quixos approx. 300 years old at this point).

Anthelios” (Motto: Our Ranks Blot Out the Sun) went on a 7 year crusade. Careful historians may note,
overeager Calgar was given the go-ahead, because nobody else wanted the job of curtailing that many
dangerous, fractious superhuman killers. Even other “over-pious” Marines hate to deal with such a
crazy-quilt Battleforce. Ork Empire of Charadon suffers series of heavy defeats, delaying the
invasion of Waaagh Argluk by 30 years.
