My job responsibilities in the Claims Representative positions for the HCSO have
required strong knowledge of Worker's Compensation, Modified/Light Duty Program
s, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Personal Illness/Injury Claims,
Personal Modified/Light Duty Programs and the Family Medical Leave Act. I also
have established strong TPA experience to ensure all claims are handled appropri
ately from initiation to an equitable conclusion. My Legal knowledge within the
WC field has allowed me to work closely with assigned attorneys on all litigated
claims. The HCSO Workers' Compensation program transitioned from The Florida
Sheriff's WC Fund to becoming Self Insured 10/01/2006. My role in this transit
ion and administration of our SI Program was extensive.
I further handled Personal Claims which included Short Term and Long Term Disabi
lity Claims are initiated by the employee with carrier. It is imperative to res
pond quickly to requested Short Term Disability verification of information, as
well as, Long Term Disability Employer Request information.
FMLA Grants need to meet requirements as outlined in the Standard Operation Proc
edures.
Any employee requesting this FMLA Grant claim secures Application and Health Car
e Certification justifying need for a Continuous or Intermittent Leave Grant.
Personal Illness/Injury Medical Condition, Light Duty claims are additional set
of claims handled. These Personal claims are monitored and recorded.

Risk Management Administrator, Claims Administration
The Risk Management Claims Department provides Claim Management Services for Aut
omobile Liability, General Liability, Property Liability, Innkeeper's Legal Liab
ility and Worker's Compensation claims. . Property Risk Management works direc
tly with the Corporate RM officials. Our primary objective was to professionall
y and effectively manage all property/casualty losses to optimize cost control a
nd enhance relations with both guests and employees.
This property was purchased 06/01/1998. When my employment began, we carried 51
open pre-acquisition GL claim in litigation. Reserves exceeded $500,000.00, ca
rried directly on the books/Operation Expense. Through a pro-active program, my
focus immediately shifted to eliminate and close those open
Litigated GL Claims. At the time of my resignation, all but 2 of those claims w
ere settled/resolved.
The 2 open GL litigated claims carried reserves of $55K. Thus, additional respo
nsibilities involved
communication skills-written and oral, Discovery, Depositions and Trials, workin
g closely with Corporate
Legal, Las Vegas, NV and assigned Defense Counsel. This office attended all Tri
als. Expense and Costs of all litigated claims were followed with quarterly rep
orts from Las Vegas Legal.

Together with the Loss Control Manager, drafted and implemented Temporary Modifi
ed Duty Program. This Policy was incorporated into the Employee Handbook. This
handbook advised all employees that they are required to advise their authorize
d treating physician that Temporary Modified Duty was available. This was Polic
y was launched in a special distribution of a revised Employee Handbook. All em
ployees were required to sign off on this new revision. All newly hired employe
es were advised of this policy during their initial company orientation. Throug
h strict Medical and Disability Management, open communication with direct repor
t Managers, Medical Unit and NJM Insurance Company, this program was extremely e
ffective. In the first 6 months of this Return To Work, Light Duty Program, Emp
loyee lost time claims were reduced by 50%.
