Faridah’s Reflections
You may have heard about Short+Sweet? Well this is the 4th year Short+Sweet
Malaysia will be hosting the festival cum competition at klpac. We began with
Theatre in 2008, Dance+Theatre in 2009 and Musical+Dance+Theatre in 2010.

As is the practice every year, a series of workshops are held in April, sponsored by
The Australian High Commission where budding writers, directors, choreographers,
composers and performers are gently slipped into the world of a 10 minute creation.

Names such as Alex Broun, Nicole Stinton, Kay Armstrong all from Australia and this
time Alex is joined by Michael Voon, Nicholas Choo and Llewelyn Marsh held the
hands of about 70 young and the not-so-young enthusiasts as they cross their t's
and dot the i's of theatre, dance and musical.

The call for entries is out! Script Writers, Composers and Choreographers will
submit their original works 'never-before-performed-in-public' to gan@klpac.org.
All dates and details can be found at shortandsweetmalaysia.blogspot.com and
on klpac and The Actors Studio websites. Short+Sweet Malaysia festival cum
competition takes off mid September till October 30th.

What's also very exciting is Short+Sweet Malaysia will be working with Short+Sweet
Singapore as we bring forth similar excitement among the young Theatre and
Dance enthusiasts for a workshop in May, held at the awesome LaSalle Institution in
preparation for the festival cum competition at the end of 2011.

So, come and join in The Biggest Little Festival In The World!!

Faridah Merican is the Executive Producer and Co-Founder of The Actors

Studio (Malaysia) and The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre. She is also
the Festival Director of Short+Sweet Malaysia.
