* Solely responsible for all aspects of network design, configuration and securi
ty.
* Responsible for daily network status reports. These reports were assimilated
from multiple sources to ascertain:
-Bandwidth usage by IP Class (Inside and outside the firewall)
-Malware threats by IP Class
-Adherence to the "Internet Acceptable Use Policy" as determined by the adopted
standards.
* Began an enterprise-wide refresh of all Windows Server 2000 to Windows Server
2003 Enterprise. The new domain controllers were introduced into the Active Dir
ectory forest (raised as primary domain controllers holding the global catalog)
to afford the easy removal of the old server. This integration was seamless to
the end user, and resulted in a considerable savings to the district by not havi
ng technicians "visit" every PC on their individual Active Directory domain(s).
* Began WAN overhaul of all single-strand WDM 10-base FX fiber transceivers to n
ew 100Mbps WDM single-strand transceivers.
* Implemented teacher/administrator remote-access to the student database from h
ome. The 128-bit encrypted SSL communication allowed web-authenticated users to
connect to their respective school's database, without the encumbrance of VPN s
etup and with all the speed of a regular browser window.
* Implemented 802.11b/g wireless security based on MAC access for all schools, a
nd be managed from a central web GUI.
* Implemented enterprise-wide email server solution offering IMAP/POP/SMTP acces
s for all authenticated desktop users.
* Implemented enterprise-wide library hosting software enabling all schools to v
iew and reserve library books at each individual school via a single web portal.
* Implemented enterprise-wide content filter based on CIPA standards. This robu
st server ran a Linux kernel and required daily interaction to facilitate usage
graphs.

students and two county courthouses. My department operated with a budget of ov
er $240,000 of non-local revenue (e-Rate, County Commission, Title 2-D).
* Solely responsible for all aspects of network security and server deployment.
* Reported to both the County Commission Chairman and the Superintendant of the
Board of Education.
* Individually responsible for e-Rate grant application, funding, and supporting
documentation.
* Responsible for all aspects of STI Database management, as well as local schoo
l STI Database interaction.
* Largest accomplishments to date:
o Secured over $350,000 in ARC grant funding for high school distance learning.
o Facilitated several DEMARC "meet-points" for three competing LEC's to extend f
iber network across entire county. Every town and or city in St. Clair County h
as access to, and the capability to join the Metro-E MBS.
o Setup alternative PSAP call center for 911 fail-over at the Ashville Sheriff's
Office.
o Implemented wireless back-haul units to connect patrol cars to Calhoun County
ACJS/NCIC look-ups. This unique partnership with Calhoun County saves St. Clair
County man-hours and utilizes a state-of-the-art "silent dispatch" technology.
o Nortel VoIP Project connecting both courthouses.
o In-house Microsoft Exchange 2003 migration for all county email clients, as we
ll as Outlook Web Access.
o Personally implemented in-house email solution for school users that eliminate
d over 85% of bulk mail, or SPAM, in users' inboxes.
o 3DES encrypted and secured video arraignment calls between each judge's office
and the jails.
o Distance Learning equipment for each high school.
o One of a few AREN network customers that manage their own network equipment.

o assist classroom teachers in learning how to implement technology into their c
urricular delivery. These classes were taught during the summer for teacher CEU
credits.
* Maintained network security and WAN connectivity on contract extension (12 mon
th contract during summer months).
* Personally trained entire local Telco field staff to support 1000Mbps metro-Et
hernet fiber network. This 24-hour training course covered VLAN security implem
entation and frame-tagging for proper QoS across the new 10Mbps fiber optic WAN.
This network would physically connect each school to the central office WAN.
