* Valve Team - I isolated, removed, overhauled, replaced and tested
valves of all sizes, styles and functions.
* Oil Lab - I sampled, tested, and treated lube oil, fuel oils, Boiler Water
and Feed Water. I operated fuel purifiers, fuel transfer pumps an

the Fuel Oil Control Console during refueling operations. I
maintained and operated the Waste Heat Boiler's Chemical
Injection System.
* Engine Room Operator - I maintained and operated marine Gas Turbine
Engines and all associated support systems including pumps,
valves, piping and control systems.
* Work Center Supervisor - As WSC for Forward Engine Room, I scheduled
maintenance, ordered parts and supplies, developed the daily work
list. I made the work and cleaning assignments. I supervised 8
mechanics. I operated the entire engineering plant at sea as the

CONCORD NAVAL WEAPONS STATION Security Department


Watch Commander - I advanced through all the positions
up to Watch Commander. As Watch Commander, I was responsible
for the physical security of a 13,000 acre weapon station and it'
s
two large off base military housing neighborhoods. During my
shift, I supervised 28 Security Guards, Dispatch Operations,
20 Patrolmen and two back up security forces. I shot EXPERT
in .45 / 9mm handgun and 12 gauge shotgun. I was a
Emergency Vehicle Driving Instructor.
USS HARRY W. HILL DD-986 Engineering Department
Leading Chief Petty Officer - I advanced from Work Center Supervisor
of the Forward Engine Room to Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO).
As Main Propulsion Department's LCPO, I supervised 30+
engineers in the daily operation and maintenance of the ship's
engineering plant. I was the MASTER of all systems and I qualifi
ed
in all engineering watch stations up to and including Engineering
Duty Officer (EDO), in port and Engineering Officer of the Watch
(EOOW), at sea.
SIMA San Diego Machinery Testing Shop
Leading Chief Petty Officer - AS the LCPO, I was responsible for
ensuring initial operational tests of pumps, motor and air
compressors overhauled ashore were performed properly. I
supervised 10 Chief Petty Officers in performing these tests. I
developed a software program that tracked test results providing
near real time feedback to the repair shops which has drastically
reduced their rework.
ED BARWICK CHRYSLER / VOLVO
Automobile Mechanic- I was the USED CAR mechanic. I prepared
trade-ins for resale. I did everything from minor tune ups to engi
ne
overhauls, power train, brakes, suspension and electrical.
Parts Manager - I worked the parts counter when someone quit and
stayed there ultimately becoming the Parts Manager. I
implemented Volvo's new automated parts tracking system.
BERGLUND CATERPILLAR, Inc.
Heavy Equipment Mechanic - I was in the Mechanic's Apprenticeship
Program. I rotated through all of the shops at this dealership. I
worked on everything from D2 through D9s, Motor Graders,
Scrapers, Loaders (wheeled and track). I prepared trade-in CATs f
or
resale, servicing brakes, clutches, repainting with new decals. I
restored the company's antique John Deere sickle arm mower.
