1 Sample Media Installation Instructions

Avid has supplied media for a startup project for your editing application. The startup
project is particularly useful if you want to start learning how to edit with your Avid editing
application right away, before you capture any media of your own.

n It is important to install your editing application and launch the application once before you
download and install the startup project. After you launch your editing application, you can
then close the application and download and install the startup project.

To install the sample media (Windows):

1. Drag the StartupProject_PC.zip to your system.
2. Double-click StartupProject_PC.zip.
3. Right-click the zip file and select Extract to here.
4. Double-click the StartupProject_PC folder.
5. Double click SETUP.EXE.
6. Select Next through the install process. The media will be installed.
7. Check the permissions on the folder created for the project media files:
a. Open Control Panel.
b. Open Folder Options.
c. Select the View Tab.
d. Uncheck Use Simple File Sharing.
e. Navigate to C:\Avid MediaFils\MXF\99
f. Right-click the 99 folder and select Properties.
g. Select the Security Tab.
h. Select a User from the list (a specific user or user group).
i. Select the check box for Allow Full Control and click Apply.
8. Launch your editing application. At the Project dialog window, select the Shared folder
button. Double-click Avid Boston Project DV25 in the Project list.
The project sample media loads and you are ready to begin editing.

To install the sample media (Macintosh):

1. Drag the StartupProject.dmg to your system.
2. Double-click StartupProject.dmg.
3. Double-click the StartupProject.mpkg file.
4. Click Continue.
5. Click Install.
6. Enter your password at the Authenticate dialog. The media will be installed.
7. Click Close.
8. Launch your editing application. At the Project dialog window, select the Folder to
access the following path to the sample project.
Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Avid editing application name/Shared Avid Projects/Avid
Boston Project DV25.
9. Click the Avid Boston Project DV25 project. The project sample media loads and you
are ready to begin editing.
