RICHARD McCAULEY, Houston, TX 2001-2002
Client: El Paso Merchant Energy
Perform evaluations on projects and advise senior management on asset management
, operations, and development activities for El Paso Merchant Energy. Analysis
involved El Pasoas interest in 12 CalEnergy Generation facilities. Facilities w
ere both Combined Cycle Gas fired and geothermal power plants including associat
ed field development.

Client: NREL/ DOE
Served on Geothermal Peer Review Panel for Department of Energy (DOE). Panel as
sisted DOE in evaluating technology and commercial viability of various projects
and partnerships. Participating facilities were Sandia National Laboratories, B
rookhaven National Laboratory, Idaho National Laboratory, and National Renewable
Energy Laboratory. The outcome of the meeting was to establish more accurate bu
dgeting parameters and which projects to fund and promote to the oil and gas sec
tor.
CALENERGY, Calipatria, CA 1992-2001
Senior Project Development and Technology Engineer 2001
Responsible for project management of capital projects, which dictated long-term
viability of operations in southern California. Involved outside contractor an
d engineering interface. Projects were fast-track high impact projects. Lead de
sign team engineer for new plant and field development project which would be th
e largest geothermal plant in the US. Plant was permitted but never built.
Engineering Manager 1995a"2001 Oversight for all engineering projects and discip
lines involved at CalEnergyas Imperial Valley operation. Scope included nine ge
neration facilities and three separate process technologies, focused on plant op
timization and field operations including drilling and remedial well operations.
Resource Manager 1992-1995
Member of acquisition team which, evaluated and completed purchase of Unocal's g
eothermal interests in Imperial Valley, CA. Project manager for Magma Power Com
pany, "Improved Completion Technologya (ICT) project. This involved the manufact
uring and procurement of Titanium pipe, and the development and deployment of hi
gh temperature latex base cement. This project also encompassed improving plant
efficiency through optimization.
BARBADOS NATIONAL OIL COMPANY, Woodbourne, St.Philip, Barbados 1989-1991
Senior Petroleum Engineer
A 2 year contract position that called for training of the local engineering sta
ff, increase oil production levels, improving workover process, and oversight of
a LPG facility providing 50% of countries bottled gas requirement. Provided ove
rsight of a 40 well drilling project. Instituted a PDC bit program, resulting in
cost savings sufficient to drill 3 additional wells.
UNIVERSAL RESOURCES, Dallas, TX 1985-1989
Senior Reservoir Engineer
Developed corporate reserve report and presented its defense. Served as a worki
ng interest owneras representative for unitization meetings. Prepared drainage c
alculations for increased density drilling in Oklahoma. Served as mentor to les
s experienced engineering staff.
