Coordinate all substitute teacher recruiting, screening and hiring for


Reading School District and adjacent school districts, under the
auspices of Substitute Teacher Services, Inc., (STS), a Media,
Pennsylvania-based firm with 32 client districts in Pennsylvania and
one in Delaware. Manage the Reading satellite office; attend college
and other teacher recruiting fairs; conduct presentations and mock
interviews for graduating seniors at local colleges; and remain active
in two professional, educational human resources associations to
advise senior management on certification issues, Federal and State
school mandates and legislation, and other compliance issues.

Phoenixville Area School District, Phoenixville, PA: 2002-2009:
Director of Human Resources
Responsible for all human resource functions for fast-growing Chester
County school district with 600+ employees and $72-million budget.
Responsibilities: Labor relations, contract administration,
negotiations, recruitment of employees, salary and benefit
administration, legal compliance with Federal and State employment
statutes, development of personnel policies, and employee discipline
and assistance programs.
Accomplishments: Established staffing, training and internship
partnerships with Drexel, Ursinus, Eastern, West Chester and Gwynedd
Mercy Universities/Colleges. Initiated employee assistance program.
Initiated internal newsletter for employees. Developed HIPAA protocol,
training and information campaign for administrators, health care
providers and benefits department.
Cheltenham Township School District, Elkins Park, PA: 1997-2002:

Responsible for all personnel functions for prestigious Philadelphia
area school district with 700 employees and $62-million budget.
Responsibilities: Labor relations and negotiations, contract
administration, salary and benefits administration, budgeting,
performance evaluations, employee training, and recruitment of staff.
Accomplishments: Working with community-based task force, recruited
high level teaching and administrative candidates from the African
American, Hispanic and Asian communities to diversify staff.
School District of Haverford Township, Havertown, PA: 1986-1997:
Director of Community and Employee Relations
Highly visible position in communications and community relations for
well-regarded, achievement-oriented Main Line school district with 600
employees and budget of $51-million.
Responsibilities: Responsible for media relations, internal
communications, employee recognition programs, news conferences,
special events, community and parent meetings, cable TV productions,
news releases, newsletters, brochures, handbooks and U.S. Department
of Education proposals for national recognition of schools.
Accomplishments: Received 23 state and/or national design awards for
district publications. Initiated new contacts with senior citizen
groups, chambers of commerce, veterans and realtors to interact with
students and staff in schools for AARP tax assistance, Veterans Day
programs and other special events. Served as coordinator for two
community-based Strategic Plan committees on communications and
