* Analytical chemist with extensive electrochemical, NMR and
chromatographic experience.
* Experience in synthesizing organic and inorganic compounds.
* Experience with computational chemistry.
* Experience in mechanistic and kinetic evaluations of complexations
and redox reactions.
Education/Experience
Post-doctoral Fellow, Virginia Commonwealth Univesity, Richmond, VA,
August 2010 to present
* Mentor: Dr. Julio C. Alvarez
* Research Focus: Acid/Base catalysis of Acetic Acid/Acetates in
Acetonitrile via Ferrocene Electromediation.
* Synthesized acetonitrile soluble acetates for electromediated
oxidation by ferrocene.
* Conducted both electrochemical and NMR studies for the purpose of
evaluating the mechanism of oxidation of acetates versus their
conjugate acids in electromediated oxidations by ferrocene.
Ph.D., Analytical Chemistry, Virginia Commonwealth University,
Richmond, VA, August 2010
* Advisor: Dr. Julio C. Alvarez
* Thesis: Mechanistic Studies on the Electrochemistry of Proton
Coupled Electron Transfer and the Influence of Hydrogen Bonding.
* Evaluated the thermodynamic and kinetic responses as determined by
electrochemical methods and NMR for the purpose of evaluating
proton-transfer versus hydrogen bonding reactions in redox
mechanisms.
* Synthesized organic and inorganic compounds for electrochemical
experiments.
