SUMMARY
Employed with Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technologies from October 1983
to August 2010. Experience in plastics products manufacturing, electrochemical
plating and milling operations, paint, bulk materials, Purchased Product Quality
Engineering, packaging, product sourcing, operational excellence and six-sigma
methods for Process Control and improvement.
EXPERIENCE
-Set up Quality Engineering program and set up required Quality documentation fo
r sourced plastics product initiative;
-Coordinated Quality Engineering function for Receiving Inspection areas involvi
ng bulk materials, plastics products and sourced plated products;
-Quality engineering leadership role in Purchased Product Engineering. Establish
ed Quality Engineering function where none existed previously. Prepared process
map of Purchasing, the Analytic Lab, and Receiving Inspection to enable a full u
nderstanding of the process.
-Aided/coordinated department requirements for migration from MES work instructi
on system to a new Solumina computer system.
-Quality Engineering leadership role within the Packaging Department: reviewed a
ll pertinent procedures, and assembled a team comprised of packaging related ass
ociates to review pareto defect data to reduce or eliminate IMRs;
-Utilized OE/six-sigma principles/Total Quality on manufacturing processes, incl
uding Statistical Process Control, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Process Ma
pping, Measurement System Evaluations and root cause analysis;
-Electrochemical Plating/Milling operations, including procedures for measuring
plated coatings involving the use of X-ray fluorescence, microhardness testing,
and mount preparation;
-Epoxy, polyurethane, and powder paint processes and associated work documents;
-Electrofilm lubricant application to miniature mechanism piece parts;
-Plastics injection molding processes utilizing polycarbonate, phenolic, and fib
erglass material;
-Urethane foam molding process;
-Generated work direction documents for the inspection and measurement of produc
ts and processes;
-Involved in reduced inspection initiatives and fact based quality utilizing pro
cess control methods.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
-Pioneered the Quality Engineering aspect of sourcing of plastics product by cre
ating initial documentation and coordinating with related associates;
-Established Purchased Product Quality Engineering function, within bulk materia
ls area, where none existed;
-Prepared process map/flow chart of Purchased Product Quality Engineering functi
on for bulk materials, identifying Quality Engineering interactions with Purchas
ing, the Analytic Lab, and Receiving Inspection;
-Aided/coordinated Analytic Lab SQES requirements for migration from MES work in
struction system to a new Solumina computer system.
WORK EXPERIENCE
1983 - 2010 HONEYWELL FEDERAL MANUFACTURING AND TECHNOLOGIES -Kansas City, Misso
uri
1981 - 1982 LITTON INDUSTRIES -Springfield, Missouri
10/09 to 8/10 Senior Engineer, Chemical
Responsible for Engineering functions pertaining to sourced plastics and plated
products, Polymer Production
Facility materials. Served as primary back-up for Bulk Materials products.
8/06 to 10/09 Senior Quality Engineer
Responsible for Engineering functions pertaining to sourced plastics and plated
products, Polymer Production
Facility materials and Bulk Materials.
9/94 to 8/06 Senior Quality Engineer
Responsible for Engineering functions pertaining to Packaging, Electrochemical P
lating and Milling
Operations, Paint, Plant Nitrogen and Argon Supply (Internal).
5/93 to 9/94 Operations Staff Engineer
Performed Hazardous Waste Assessment and participated on various teams, active i
n implementation of
directives to comply with Federal Regulations involving health, safety and envir
onment (HS&E).
10/92 to 5/93 Senior Operations Engineer
Implemented Federal Regulations, involving travel to various Department of Energ
y (DOE) Headquarters
meeting sites and participated in DOE Orders Implementation Workshops.
1/88 to 10/92 Senior Engineer, responsible for developing and implementing quali
ty assurance activities in plastics, plating,
and polymer chemistry products areas; performed supplier systems audits and in-p
lant process adequacy audits.
9/83 to 1/88 Quality Control/Quality Process Engineer, reviewed acceptance proce
sses and equipment, analyzed for
completeness, accuracy, and the ability to define product design requirements; a
pplied SPC to plating solution
controls. As a result, the Analytic Lab input and maintained solution control da
ta in a computer database allowing for quick analysis of past performance for ea
ch bath and application of this information to improve bath chemistry control. A
ttained DOE "Q" Clearance.
10/81 to 6/82 Quality Control Engineer, applied SPC to identify and correct prin
ted circuit board plating processing problems;
utilized zero defects/run charts.
