Built a company with focus on installation of commercial security and access con
trol systems. In
1988, changed the focus to innovative technology offerings for residential, new
construction, and
low voltage installations for the home with service offerings including security
, intercom, central
vacuum, telephone, and cable outlets. In the 90's expanded business into home e
ntertainment
which included house music systems and home theatre systems. Offered 21st centu
ry updates
with lighting control systems and integrated home automation.
* Partnered with builders and architects to develop packaged systems installed
in the home
models, and met with home buyers to customize the systems. Recognized in CE
Pro
Magazine (Consumer Electronics Professional), as one of the top 100 integrat
ors of the
nation in 2002. Achieved annual installations exceeding 450 homes and reven
ues
exceeding $2M.
* Hired a marketing professional to develop a program for educating the local b
uilders,
architects, and future clients. Created an eBook - Electronics for Better Li
ving, a handbook
for home electronics which included a buyers guide for budget and features p
lanning.

Increased sales revenue 13% with the average sale per contract increasing fr
om $5K to
over $20K. Some projects exceeded $100k.
* In 2004, achieved success returning sales focus to the custom homes exceeding
$1M.
Achieved over $1.2M in revenues on less than 50 installations in 2007 and ex

$1.6M in 2008.
* Integrated home electronics systems with home owner's data network to provide
remote
control of security, CCTV system, distribution of TV, lighting, and music to

rooms. Developed in-home network and sub-network for remote access anywhere
in the
world.
* Reduced customer attrition to less than 5% per year by implementing quality c
ontrol
procedures with cost of service for existing accounts less than 3% of sales.
Achieved
extremely low level of false alarms with less than one alarm dispatch per ho
usehold per
year. Averaged at least one fire detection a year.
* Implemented integrated quality program with primary focus on installation qua
lity control
and a secondary focus on active follow up on all alarm activity. Created in
stallation
procedures manual standardizing wiring and connection procedures. Provided I
nstallers
with classroom instruction and on-site installation training with experience
d installers.
Conducted quality control inspections to assure compliance to procedures.
* Upgraded the quoting system to improve product identification and quantity in
volved in
projects as some projects included 7 distinctly different systems involving
thousands of feet
of up to 10 different types of wire and over 100 components. Coordinated in
stallation with
contractor schedules and manufacturer delivery.
* In the 80's and early 90's, began preparing homes for the digital age before
the internet
was available at the consumer level by utilizing commercial, networking, and
wiring
techniques. Achieved rapid accommodation to home owners telephone and cable
needs
for up to 6 incoming phone lines and data networks. Converted cable network
s from cable
TV to satellite sources with ease and installed amplifiers to ensure the pro
per video signal
was sent to each TV. The largest video network of this type 16 active TVs i
n the home.
* "Future Proofed" homes as early as 1995 by providing Category 5 wiring to TV
and
telephone locations. Provided customers with 100-Base-T data networks and H
igh
Definition TV analogue 720p without having to rewire the home.
* Every day thousands of residents in the Raleigh Durham area secure their home
s, control
their lights, watch TV, enjoy an in-home movie, listen to music, access the
internet and talk
on the telephone using the products we installed.
* The most important accomplishment is the fire detection systems we installed.
At least
once every year we saved a family from a fire in their home.
