gy at 3,600 m above sea level over the central mountain range of the country.

Highway Engineer
In early 1973 the Government of Saudi Arabia initiated a massive effort to build
ground transportation infrastructure of Kingdom. Most highway design standards
and criteria were based on a variation of AASHTO (American Association of Highwa
y and Transportation Officials) standards amended to suite the local conditions.
Main Activities and Responsibly:
* As a member of the design team, participating in all stages of field reconnais
sance survey and roadway design work of national highway system connecting five
distant regions of the Kingdom. Combined length of the project exceeded 1400 Km.
* As an assistant to the project manager, arranged meeting with the official at
the government, made verbal presentations and prepared reports of the meeting.
* As member of the design team involved in the layout and design of Primary and
Secondary Roadway system including design of a Module Path for the Industrial Ci
ty of Jubail in Eastern Saudi Arabia. All design criteria and standards used on
this were based on CALTRANS standards.
OTHER PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:
* Co-founder and Member of Board of Director of SpecTran Corporation, a publicly
traded fiber optic manufacturing company (1981 -1992).
* Facility Engineer for SpecTran Corporation during the first six months of the
initial phases of plant assembly.
* As a member of Kabul University research team, worked on a number of projects
for the government and private industry including:
* Field survey and feasibility study for a 100kw hydro power plant in central Af
ghanistan.
