Ascension of the Lord
Pastor’s Corner ~
The ASCENSION of the Lord Jesus to heaven gives us
many valuable lessons in the faith. First, the disciples
did not feel abandoned with the physical absence of
the Master. He disappeared before their eyes only to
be present in many different forms, through his Spirit,
his Word, his commandments, his authority and power
working in the person of the believers, most specially
the apostles, his sacraments and values He entrusted
to the Church. Jesus is not absent but present and
imminent, closer to us than we to ourselves through
His Spirit working within us. Secondly, Ascension also
speaks of our hope, that where Jesus has gone, we
hope to follow one day. Thirdly, He empowered us
believers to continue His work of salvation and gave us
the means to make His presence and actions visible in
the world where we live.
CONGRATULATIONS to our 8th graders who will be
graduating from St. Columba School in a weeks time!
Our gratitude and congratulations also go to their
families who have persevered in giving them a good
education amidst our present economic difficulties.
Indeed, it is such a blessing as well as an
accomplishment for all our school families, our
teachers and staff for having been part of another
fruitful school year here at St. Columba. We are hoping
and praying for a bigger enrollment and student
population and we are trying our best to provide a
better learning institution in the coming years.

• Religious Education classes will begin again next
September. Pre-registration will begin in July.
• Youth Group is a year-round program. We meet on
Sundays from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the
Ministry Center.
• Mater Dei Catholic High School’s entrance exam
will be Wednesday, June 8, at 8:00 a.m. For more

• St. Columba School registration for 2011-2012 has

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be next
Saturday, June 11th, 8:45 a.m.−3:30 p.m. in the Daily
Chapel. There is a sign-up book available if you wish to
attend at a specific time.
