Nuclear Disarmament

In the world today many countries face many challenges but the most alarming

challenge that has risen over the past years is the disarmament of nuclear weapons. The

issue is mainly with third world countries that poses large amounts of nuclear weapons.

They pose a threat to many first world and second world countries. There has been little

or no progress at all towards disarmament of nuclear weapons. As a result little has been

achieved to fortify security and development.

Nuclear disarmament is the act of reducing or fully eliminating nuclear weapons

in all countries and striving for a nuclear free world. Over the past years many countries

have stared to acquire nuclear weapons for safety as many stated. But, in reality most

countries have started gathering nuclear weapons because they want to become a super

power country and be ready in case of war. Most countries don’t see the big picture of

how nuclear weapons affect the whole world. Too many countries now have nuclear

weapons that can lead to a nuclear war which in the end will only eliminate the world.

Many third world countries have started gaining nuclear weapons that jeopardize the

security of many countries.

Japan has been working hard over the past years to give support in the

disarmament of nuclear weapons. Since the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty faces many

challenges Japan has gathered with Australia to figure out ways to improve disarmament.

Both Japan and Australia are strong supporters of nuclear nonproliferation regimes. Japan

remains the only state to have experienced the consequences of nuclear weapons. Japan

can, therefore, understand the concerns that countries bring to this debate. Japan has
gotten together with Australia to create a disarmament commission. Japan is currently

struggling between two seemingly contradictory security principles. On the one side,

Tokyo is protected under the U.S. nuclear umbrella. On the other, the country strongly

supports the movement toward a world free of nuclear weapons.

The delegate of Japan believes that the best resolution for this crisis is to improve

the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty or to create a new disarmament commission that

will be in charge of disarmament problems. Since the NPT act has been in service for 40

years and has worked outstandingly. By ratifying the NPT act countries can come

together and create a better and stronger NPT act that will improve nuclear disarmament

and work towards a nuclear free world.
