Dear Mr. Ahmed,

Thank you for your Jetter of '27 July :Z007. At tbe outset, I would like to
emphasize that our requests contained in the letter of tbe Director General of the my'
Cabinet Ambassador Tufan ";"ere based 00 dire technical-budgetary requirements,
particularly in tbe view of the upcoming review of our accounts before the end of the
year by 3. special auditing committee comprising representatives of tbe member
countries. Technically, beyond the end of the financial year, which will coincide for the

funds outside its official accounts.

In any case, presently we do not feel that the GeorgetowD side has the ability-to
proceed with h'olding a trilateral conference in the near future 'for reasons which I
explained to my brother :Or_ Awad on the phone. Utterly confidentially, I should
underline th2t l have 2 feeling that we might have to replace the Georgetown University
with another partner for the oI"gllDization of the fo~ecn symposium. What is more, the
workshop which is being organized by Prof. Esposito on the 20" of thisSeptember is
certainly not a substitute fOT ""hat we have been planning ...-lth the CAIR. In tbis
regard, I would like to assure you that you "I'm have our fuD support for bolding our
long overdue joint symposiu.m wherever and whenever it eventually takes place. When
.the decision is taken, we will act promptly to provide the necessary funds in the
framework to be agreed upon in the coming period, However at the moment, we have no
option but to request your kind assistance and understanding to return the entire
amount which ~'a8 transferred 'to the CAIR accounts previously, to the following OIC
account in..Jeddah, togetbeJ" with an itemized el.plan~Jtjon on the expenses incu rred.
