Course Description:
This course is planned to develop the understanding of the principles and practices of computer
networks. The course would focus on the TCP/IP Suite. It provides students with theoretical
concepts necessary to understand design and develop solutions for the real world. Topics such
as the structure and components of computer networks, packet switching, Routing, TCP/IP,
window flow control, local area networks, network layer, congestion control, multicasting
would be studied.
Course Outcomes:
The intended learning outcomes for this course are to:
1‐ Gain good understanding of the role of TCP/IP networking protocols in modern
communication networks;
2‐ Gain good concepts, principles and practices that enables students to handle,
troubleshoot and extend existing networks;
3‐ Gain creative problem‐solving skills; by solving problems/assignments that have been
specifically designed so that students gain the required analytical skills for solving similar
problems in real life.
