Upon completion of the non-compete I joined Dax Hair Care in July of 2002 as Dir
ector of R&D and Marketing. My primary responsibilities were:
a Create new and innovative products
a Modernize the existing product lines packaging and labeling

a Created a contract manufacturing business within the Dax infrastructur

a Sold the newly formed company services

The results yielded a thirty percent increase in gross sales. Seventy percent of
this growth was from new products and managed services. The Contrax business ge
nerated almost four million dollars of gross business in its second year of oper
ation.

rsonal care or cosmetic products. I started my own under-funded marketing compan
y. Although my products were critically accepted, my financial resources prohibi
ted sales growth. I folded the company in 2002.

In conjunction with my responsibilities at Concept, in December of 1995 I was pr
omoted to Vice President of Manufacturing for the marketing side of the business
. I had been intimately involved with R&D, package and manufacturing procurement
for this company since 1984. Sales in 1984 were at or about $1 million dollars.
The company had 4 marketable products, no formulas, quality control, feasible m
anufacturing or inventory plans. My responsibilities included:
a Managed the directors of Purchasing, Warehousing/Distribution and Inve
ntory Control/Planning
a Provided a professional liaison between the Marketing and Art departme
nts on transition from idea stage to saleable goods
a Re-negotiated supply contracts with vendors of all packaging, printed
materials and sampling program suppliers
a Received certification from JD Edwards and provided oversight of softw

a Successfully managed the strategic relocation of our distribution cent
er with the Vice President of Finance from Stamford, CT to Lima, OH

The results of this fourteen-year relationship were 110 products, 105 formulas a

Having provided Purchasing and management advice since 1984, this company approa
ched me with a proposal. They wanted me to aContinue the R&D work and turn this
contract manufacturing company into a profitable businessa. Concept was a manufa
cturer of personal care products in a 50M square foot building doing $600K in sa
les with 14 employees. I inherited small account receivables, high account payab
les and a limited customer base. I liked the idea of this challenge. The followi
ng steps were taken to increase both the productivity and profitability of this
manufacturing facility:
a Re-wrote all Standard Operating Procedures from Order entry through Qu
ality Control

a Negotiated new supply contracts with vendors to decrease costs

The resultant effect of these efforts produced a profitable company employing ov
er sixty people in 1998. Concept generated just over $6 million dollars in sales
and became a key piece of a buy-out by Revlon.

At the age of 35 I founded my own consulting company. This company provided cont
ract research and development services to chemical suppliers and cosmetic produc
t marketing companies. This company grossed over $150K in its only year of exist
ence.

Started as a lab technician and exited as a Lead Technical Consultant reporting
directly to the President. My duties were inclusive of, but not limited to the f
ollowing activities; Client identification, proposal writing, product costing, p
urchasing, complex R&D bench top chemistry, claim validation studies, project ma
nagement, quality control and quality assurance, analysis and interpretation of
results and final report presentation to clients. Examples of the diverse projec
ts managed at this multi-discipline consulting laboratory are presented below:
a For the leading marketer/manufacturer of tabletop sweeteners, successful imple
mentation of a corporate QC/QA program for processes and finished goods. This ta
sk entailed implementation at four facilities located respectively in New York,
California, Florida and Georgia. Resulted in significant cost saving realized in
avoidance of returned goods, freight and administration.
a For a major pharmaceutical company, increase the shelf life of an intra ocular
irrigation fluid used during laser surgery from two weeks to two years by re-de
fining the production process. Applied state of the art, two compartment packagi
ng in combination with innovative lypholization technology. Resulted in a 400% i
ncrease in sales.
a For a small start up holding company, awarded numerous U.S. (i.e. 4,883,659 &
5,039,516) and Foreign Patents for work associated with the use of a water insol
uble polymer in water based cosmetic preparations.
a For a major food company, developed an innovative non-stick chewing gum base f
or incorporation into its entry into the aFree Denta type chewing gum market.
a For a major publication, performed numerous projects related to the comparison
of product performance of many similar products within a product category. Thes
e categories included foods, cosmetics, personal care and household products.
a Developed an in house team specializing in cosmetic and personal care product
development. Resulted in revenue generation in excess of $440K per year.
