Editor’’s Note
Hi readers, BRIDGE newsletter is back in church
ever since its production halted in 2009!
Personally I feel that BRIDGE, in the past years,
has been serving its purpose well to inform readers
of what is happening in the youth ministry and to
provide information of the following month’’s
activities for the youths. There will be a little
alteration to the mission of BRIDGE. The re-
launching of BRIDGE will serve as a platform to
bridge the gap between the adults or parents and
the youths. In this new edition of BRIDGE, there
will be articles by the editors, specially invited writers, interviews and lots more, so
remember to stay tuned with BRIDGE’’s monthly production.

Interview with Rev. Fred Abbey
Rev. Fred Abbey recently
returned from the freezing Tibet
regions with temperatures
falling to minus 10 degrees. A
potential health disaster was
averted and Pastor Fred is
physically well now. Praise the
Lord for this servant’’s
dedication and tenacity in
serving His ministry!
In this New Year, he has a new
vision from God and that is
““Divine Healing””. Currently,
this faithful servant of God is in
town preaching this message to
various churches. Sharing with
us his spirit-lled experience in
the early years of his walk with
God, his enthusiasm has
inspired me to take up
challenges with faith and
courage.
Background
This man of faith came from
the rst batch of Assemblies Of
God (AOG) Sunday School in
1936 and graduated from there
as a pastor. Presently, AOG
Sunday School is notably
known as the AOG Bible
College. Only ve students
remain from Pastor Fred’’s batch
but they are still serving even at
the age between 80-90.
Words of Encouragement &
Advice
When asked for any words
of encouragement that he
would like to share with the
youths of the church, he said,
““The church totally
depends on the youths and
expects the youths to be doing
active evangelism.””
““So when youths bring
youths, then the youths grow
up from young, they will be
Christians. In the future, when
they take up the leadership
roles like pastors or deacons,
they will be strong. So that is
why the youths are very
important to the church.””
As you can see, he values
the youths in every church
highly, and so for me, I believe
that it is our mission to be the
one working hard and not for
God to work hard while we
take the backseat. We ended off
the conversation with words of
advice for the parents too!
““Parents must make sure
that their children come to
church, so when they come to
church, they will be dedicated,
be baptized in water and then
also be married.””
Jokingly he said, ““And
when they die, the church will
bury them.””
So as a church, I strongly
believe in what he says, as
youths are the foundation of
the church. In the future, the
present adults will have to pass
the leadership baton to the
younger generation and it will
be our time. So let’’s put our
rst step of faith in God and
continue this walk
wholeheartedly.

with a verse that I would like to
share with all the readers:
““Don’’t let anyone look down on
you because you are young, but set
an example for believers in speech,
in conduct, in love, in faith and in
purity.”” - 1 Tim 4:12 (NIV 2011)
 Are You Fresh for Everything?
"Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John
3:3
Sometimes we are fresh for a prayer meeting but not fresh for cleaning boots!
Being born again of the Spirit is an unmistakable work of God, as mysterious as the wind,
as surprising as God Himself. We do not know where it begins, it is hidden away in the depths
of our personal life. Being born again from above is a perennial, perpetual and eternal
beginning; a freshness all the time in thinking and in talking and in living, the continual
surprise of the life of God. Staleness is an indication of something out of joint with God - "I
must do this thing or it will never be done." That is the rst sign of staleness. Are we freshly
born this minute or are we stale, raking in our minds for something to do? Freshness does not
come from obedience but from the Holy Spirit; obedience keeps us in the light as God is in the
light.
Guard jealously your relationship to God. Jesus prayed "that they may be one, even as we
are one" - nothing between. Keep all the life perennially open to Jesus Christ, don't pretend
with Him. Are you drawing your life from any other source than God Himself? If you are
depending upon anything but Him, you will never know when He is gone.
Being born of the Spirit means much more than we generally take it to mean. It gives us a
new vision and keeps us absolutely fresh for everything by the perennial supply of the life of
God.
