Having celebrated Mother’s Day in
May, it’s now the family’s turn to
celebrate fatherhood in June. Schools
are releasing students for a well-earned
summer vacation, and people are beating the heat
at the beach or swimming pool. Enjoy, and when
partaking in these activities, be sure to bring
drinking water and wear hats, sunglasses, and
sunscreen.
Most of us in Afghanistan continue to work
‘12 hour plus’ workdays that include physical
fitness when we can fit it in and many tasty food
selections in our dining facilities to keep us going.
Those many Marines and Sailors with us who will
redeploy at the end of Operation Enduring
Freedom 11.1 during August and September are

During June, Marine Corps Family Team Building
will conduct four Beyond the Brief workshops
designed for families of deployed Marines and
Sailors. All participants are guaranteed to meet other
family members that they share things in common
with AND learn something, whether this is the first or
fifth deployment. On June 28th is a special Kids-N-
Reunion Workshop for children to help prepare them
for the homecoming of their deployed parents.
As always, I encourage you to take advantage of at
least one opportunity in this newsletter, whether it is
family, financial or physical fitness.

On 30 May, we took the time at Camp
Leatherneck to honor the men and women who have
sacrificed for America’s safety and freedom. Below
is the benediction I presented at our Memorial Day
service. I mention 3 Marines who I had the privilege
to say were my brothers, Marines who gave their all.

fought for life and never lost their nerve’ —
carry out your mission and keep your honor
clean. Demonstrate to the world there is ‘No
Better Friend, No Worse Enemy’ than a U.S.
Marine. "
Lord we pray for the strength, courage and
ability to carry on the mission until our enemy
is defeated, peace has been brought to this war-
torn land and the safety and security of the
United States is secured.

1stSgt Jerry Lopez
May was a great month for the
Forward. Five new members joined
the 2d MLG family: Tatum Coash,
Isabella Norway, London Hernandez,
Titus Lang, and Mikka Todd. Congratulations to
families and welcome to the baby devil dogs.
We’ve made it past the hump for our Warriors
who will be leaving after six months. For those
Marines and Sailors who are remaining for the
long haul, we just started our R&R (Rest and
Recuperation) rotation. I am privileged and
blessed to serve with some great men and women
and can’t say enough about what these Warriors
continue to do for those Marines and Sailors
outside of this Base. We’ve just finished another
Corporals Leadership Course, and Corporal
Christiann M. Wolford (G-3) was selected as the
honor Grad for her class. Happy Fathers’ Day and
thank you to our families and friends for your
constant support and care packages.

Baby Budget Workshop
The Budget for Baby workshop will teach
budgeting techniques & the impact a baby has on
a family's finances. A FREE layette is available to
all USMC/USN families who attend that class and
are expecting a baby. The layettes contain brand
name infant items and a handmade blanket. Call

The FOCUS Project
This project intends to assist family members by
alleviating deployment-induced stress. It intends
to enhance family communication and support by
developing a shared family narrative about the
deployment experiences. It provides individual
and community level consultations, workshops,
and skill-building groups designed to support

FREE Child Care for MCFTB events

If you have not done so, please register your children
in order to take advantage of the FREE childcare. To
utilize the FREE childcare services provided by the
Brewster Childcare Development Center (CDC) during
MCFTB training or CDC-supported unit functions, you
must register your children at the CDC & Youth
Pavilion located at Midway Park.
The CDC provides childcare for registered children
between the ages of six weeks old and up to 12 years
old. Prior to events, parents must call 450-8467 to
make their reservations as soon as possible but at least
72 hours in advance. All children must be registered
with Children, Youth, and Teen Programs (have a
white card).
Military ID Cards for 10th Birthday
Camp Lejeune Reception Center, Bldg 59, is open
0630 - 1800 Monday through Thursday and 0630 -
1600 on Fridays. The Courthouse Bay ID Card
Center is the satellite ID card center, located in Bldg
BB-12. Hours of operation 0730 - 1600, Monday
through Friday.
Super Star Student Reward, MCX
Students in grades 6– 12 and home schooled students
who attain an overall B average for the grading period
are eligible to bring their report cards to the MCX
within 30 days of the grading period. They will
receive a scratch-off card with a guaranteed prize.

Operation Noble Heart: Volunteers Wanted

A new program designed to encourage active duty

service members, family members, and the civilian
employees to perform volunteer work for charitable
organizations in the local community.

Sgt. Leland S. Watson, from Greenville, N.C., a Marine
Corps Community Services Marine with 2nd Marine
Logistics Group (Forward), assists customers during the
Marine Corps Exchange grand opening May 23, 2011,
aboard Forward Operating Base Edinburgh, Afghanistan.
The 40-foot trailer will permanently stay at the FOB and will
be constantly resupplied to satisfy the needs of the troops
who are in the area in support of International Security
Assistance Force operations.

Q: What is the composition of 2d MLG (Fwd)? A: It is comprised of Headquarters and Service Company [HQSVC Company (Forward)],
two Combat Logistics Battalions, an Engineer Support Battalion, MAGTF Support Battalion (elements of Dental, Maintenance, Medical, and
Supply Battalions), and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Company. Each battalion has its own FRO. HQSVC Company (Forward)'s
FRO is not only our company FRO, but he is also CLR-27's FRO.
