Over 25 years of extensive experience in process engineering involving hydrocarb
ons, refinery, urea, coal gasification, hydrogen, ethylene, and cryogenic projec
ts. Experience includes environmental design of anhydrous ammonia, industrial w
ater purification and steam and utility systems. Goal-oriented team player with
an ability to implement practical solutions which are cost effective and schedu
le oriented.
EDUCATION B.S., Chemical Engineering Degree, University of Oklahoma
EXPERIENCE
2009- Present Allstates Technical Services, Houston, Texas
Assignment: Kellogg Brown & Root; Process Systems Engineer
SONAREF Refinery Project (200,000 BPD Grassroots Refinery) - Wilmington Office (
WOC)
During the EPC phase of the project assigned to the Marine Terminal Section I de
veloped a cost saving of $53 MM by proposing to eliminate 10 tanks & 33 pumps fr
om the project.
During the FEED phase of the project assigned to the Sulfur Recovery Section to
finalize the interconnecting piping design between the Sour Water Stripping Unit
s 1 & 2, Sulfur Recovery, Sulfur Tailgas, Sulfur Pelletizer, Acid Gas Flare and
supporting Storage facilities. Developed utility material balances: Fuel Gas, St
eam & Condensate, Cooling Water, Instrument & Plant Air, BFW & Boiler Blowdown d
istribution systems.
Saved the steam tracing condensate by designed an Atmosphic Condensate Collectio
n System and pumping the condensate to the refinery condensate return headers.
BP-Husky Toledo Reformer 3 Project (42,000 BPD CCR Unit) - Houston Office (HOC)
During the EPC phase of the project finalized the following utility material bal
ances: Fuel Gas, Steam & Condensate and Cooling Water. Finalized the utility eq
uipment and instrument data sheets, and nozzle summaries.
Completed the cooling water header study using the ATF-Fathom program. Evaluate
d the flare header & PSV leads using the Aspen FlareNet program.
1990-1999 & Kellogg Brown & Root, Houston, Texas
2005- 2009 Process Systems Engineer
Gassi Touil LNG Project (4.0 MM tones/yr LNG project)
Developed P&IDs, equipment and instrument load sheets, nozzle summaries, and rel
ief valve sizing and data sheets.
Established line sizes, equipment evaluations, piping nomenclature and material
selection
Yanbu Export Refinery Project (Delayed Coker Unit 114,475 BPSD) Section Lead
Supervised 4 engineers for developing 94 P&IDs, Load sheets and SP items.
Participated in the design reviews and HAZOPs. Resolved items with cost effectiv
e ideas.
Evaluated relief scenarios and sized the process equipment pressure relief syste
ms.
Singapore SynGas Gasification Project
Developed the multi-level steam, condensate collection, fuel gas, BFW, plant wat
er, potable water, plant & instrument air, nitrogen, and oxygen distributions sy
stems.
Designed the cooling tower & BFW chemical feed systems
Exxon Singapore Olefins Project
Provided the conceptual design for the plant fractionation and Gasoline Hydrotre
ater Units.
Developed the detail design and drawings for the depentanizer, debezenizer and r
erun columns
Sierra Pacific Gasification Project
Field Assignment 1995 - Process engineering member of the precomissioning, comis
sioning, and startup team.
Developed a test run evaluation spread sheet, calculated and wrote the startup p
rocedures on the coal feed, sorbent and ash lock hopper systems.
Other Projects Included
In a Gasification Project, reduced the cost of the utility condensate collection
system from a three multi-pressure return header design to a single low-pressur
e header return system
Developed Safety Memorandum on a Shell EO/EG project.
Developed the offsite water treatment facilities and associated systems duties f
or a MTBE Project.
Supervised engineering team on Benzene Neshap field assignment
In an Ethylene Project, redesigned the reboilers for three towers in the GHU sec
tion, which simplified the condensate return system and reduced the design press
ure of one of the reboilers.
2005 Chart Energy & Chemicals, The Woodlands, Texas
Project Engineer
Projects included a Carbon Tetrafluoride Reclaimer for NASA and a LNG Wash Syst
em Upgrade for Bechtel Corp.
Trouble-shooting on inadequate liquid nitrogen supply by correcting the design o
f surge drum and related control valves.
Simplified an Oil Coalescent Filter design from two parallel trains to one singl
e train feeding process gas to the cold box.
2000 - 2005 CB&I - Howe-Baker, Tyler, Texas
Process Systems Engineer
Assigned to Hydrogen unit, Naphtha Desulfurization Units, and Sulfur Reduction &
Tail Gas Treatment Plants.
Developed spreadsheet for establishing Pressure Safety Valve capacity requiremen
t which was made as a project standard template.
Facilitated the coordination design conditions and line specifications between t
he interconnecting piping based on Battery Limit conditions.
2000 Lockwood Greene Engineering, Dallas, Texas
Process Engineer
Worked on two metals processing plant designs, which included a powdered aluminu
m classification process and a zinc oxide precipitation process.
Reduced the inert gas requirement from 1500 SCFM to 103 SCFM by designing a tank
blanketing system. This resulted in a cost saving by eliminating inert gas gen
erator and solvent vent recovery system load from 26 gpm to 4 gpm of recovered s
olvent.
Redesigned a number of air diaphragm pumps to centrifugal pumps, which reduced t
he air compressor load from 700 SCFM to 35 SCFM for the instrument air load.
