LUBRICAHON The engine is lubricated by oil mixed with the fuel. Recommended fuel/oil ratio is 201 using regular gasoline and an approved snowmobile oil. The Apex Reversing Transmission should be kept filled to level of check plug (1Figure 1) with Automatic Transmission Fluid, Type "A" or equivalent. Add fluid if required, by removing shift bracket retaining cap screw (2). Drive chains should be lubricated with a dry type chain lubricant once each day or oftencr if necessary. Steering rack and gear should be lubricated at least once each season with Lubriplate or equivalent, or dry graphite. Front wheels when used, should be removed and bearing:! packed period-

measured from front to rear of wheel; or %-% inch when measured to front and rear tips of skis. Tie rod end must be disconnected from spindle to ADJUSTMENT make the adjustment, and wheel must WHEELS & SKIS. Skis or front be removed if so equipped. On GT15 wheels should toe in a slight amount Models, when toe-in is adjusted, steerwhen properly adjusted. Correct toe- ing clutches must be checked as outin should measure 5/16-% inch when lined in the following paragraph. STEERING CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT. On GT15 Models, turning front wheels 2 to 5 degrees should release the clutch on inside track. Steering clutch adjustment should be checked and adjusted if necesary each time toe-in is adjusted, each time drive chain is adjusted, or any other time misadjustment is suspected. With steering wheel carefully turned until wheels or skis are pointing EXACTLY straight ahead, steering clutch adjusting nuts should just contact brackets on brake rods without moving brake rod. Any movement of steering wheel for right or left tum should cause adjusting nut for outside track to move away from brake rod bracket. Refer to Fig. 2 and Fig. 3.
Rq. 2On GT15, ttMrinq i$ synchrenittd with track clutches and correct adiHstment Is necessary for proper operation. Sliqlit tuminq of front wheels should release the clutch on inside track, but a full turn should not apply the brake.

Adjust as necessary until proper contact is made. An operational test of steering clutches can be made as follows: Securely support rear of machine with both tracks clear of ground or floor. With transmission in "Forward", start and run engine at moderate speed. When front wheels are turned slightly (approx. 5 degrees) in either direction, inside track should stop turning. Formsprag brake unit should not apply when steering wheel is turned to lock position in either direction. Adjust by turning nut (N Fig. 3) as required. Primary chain or chains can be adjusted by removing shims from beneath secondary shaft pillow block mounting bolts. Shims may be added, if necessary, beneath transmission base and upper pillow block. Secondary chains are adjusted by loosening the four power frame mounting bolts (10Fig. 2) and tightening anchor rod nut. Brake rods, steering clutch rods and shift linkage must be readjusted if power frame is moved. SINGLE DISC BRAKE. 1970 models and later Model 210 are equipped with a single disc brake located on DRIVE CHAWS. The 1870 Tracker secondary drive shaft as shown in and Model 210 use a single primary Fig. 5. To adjust the brake, proceed drive chain running from transmission as follows: Disconnect brake rod and spring output shaft to secondary shaft, and two chains running from secondary (3Fig. 4) from actuating lever. Reshaft, and two chains rimning from move cotter pin (1) and tighten adsecondary shaft down to track drive justing nut (2) snugly, then back off axles. Model GT15 uses two primary until disc is free. Align cotter pin and two secondary drive chains. Sug- hole and reinstall cotter pin (1). spring (3). Brake link must be adjusted if powerframe is moved to adjust secondary drive chains. NOTE: Some early models may not use return spring (3), and yoke pin will be retained by a cotter key. Spring assists in preventing weight of brake rod from partially apply brake. MULTIPLE DISC BRAKE. On GT15 Models, a multiple disc brake (3 Fig. 6) is a part of the FOHMSPRAG control unit (CB). Individual controls are used for each track. The clutch-brake unit does not require internal adjustment but linkage adjustment is critical. To adjust the linkage, refer to Fig. 3 and proceed as follows: Disconnect brake rod (5RL) at forward (pedal) end. Back off nut (N) until it is free of actuating bracket on brake rod. Turn adjusting yoke (Y) as required until brake rod can just be reconnected to pedal shaft without moving actuator arm (A). Readjust steering clutch links as previously outlined after brake linkage is properly adjusted. Brake linkage must be adjusted if power frame is moved to adjust secondary drive chains. SmFT LEVER LINK. Shift lever link may need to be adjusted if power frame is moved to adjust secondary drive chains, or if hand lever rides either end of slot in shift plate. Refer to Fig. 8. Disconnect the rod at transmission end and turn adjustable end in or out as required until shift action -is satisfactory. TRACK. To adjust track tension, raise and block rear of machine to allow access to inside adjusting bolts. With rear of machine raised, track should just touch center bogie wheels

Ski support attaches to front wheel spindle as shown in Inset, Fig. 10. Steering post, support and both tie rods are removed as a unit after removing steering wheel, shaft and rack, then disconnecting tie rods at outer ends. Silicone Rubber Sealant should be used when reinstalling support or any other parts attached to waterproof body. Front tire pressure should be 4 psi. Engine and other units are accessible for minor service or inspection after removing rear compartment cover. Upper body half may be completely removed or tipped up for major service. Wiring harness, control cables and allied parts must be re-

moved or disconnected for removal. To separate upper and lower body halves, first remove rubber bumper by stretching and lifting upward. Use a 3/16-inch drill to drill out pop rivets, leaving front row if body is being tipped, or until wiring is disconnected if top is being removed. When reinstalling rubber bumper, note that back portion is wider than front.
