The sixth sense

Now faith is substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. I watched a block buster film some years back titled the sixth sense . The film chronicled a young lad who sees dead people. It is a very captivating imaginary story. But how will you feel if you were able to see beyond the physical realm? Will you be comfortable if you were to see your Angel that God asked to watch over you? Will you still be able to see to sleep if you see the devil and his cohorts as they schemed against you? Tough questions I guess!!! The dictionary described the sixth sense as a special feeling or ability to know things without using any of the 5 ordinary senses such as your hearing or sight. It is a sixth sense because every man has 5 physical senses of touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing. Sometimes it is call intuition, extra perceptive feeling or just a knowing. Because it is beyond the physical senses, sometimes it brings with it such eerie feelings. It sometimes makes people who exhibit it feel special and it is root of parapsychology, sance, the witch doctors etc. Most people hold such men in high esteem. And we conclude that they must be special people. If you are born again, you should have the understanding that people see into both the negative and the positive spirit realm, by that I mean not all that sees are gifted with the heavenly sixth sense, some of them are evil. Little wonder it stated in the scripture Beloved, do not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God . (1John4:1AMP). In other words, not all that sees are from God and it takes the spirit that come from God to speak for God. For believers therefore, the most important thing is not just the sixth sense of the individual concerned but from where it emanates. Note from this scripture also that we are not to accept every spirit because what they say sounds like it s of God or because we find it agreeable with us. Don t be quick to conclude, rather be sure to know its source. How do we do that? The answer abounds in the scripture; I will try to give 2 or 3. Firstly, the proceeding verse of 1John4 says, every spirit which acknowledges and confesses [the fact] that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [actually] has become man and has come in the flesh is of God [has God for its source]; And every spirit which does not acknowledge and confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh [but would annul, destroy, sever, disunite Him] is not of God [does not proceed from Him] . That is straight forward. Again the scripture say, Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking under the power and influence of the [Holy] Spirit of God can [ever] say, Jesus be cursed! And no one can [really] say, Jesus is [my] Lord, except by and under the power and influence of the Holy Spirit. (1Corth12:3). That is, you cannot be operating in the sixth sense through the power of His Spirit and at the same time be damning Jesus and it is impossible for you to say Jesus is Lord without His Spirit. So you can never be a mouth piece for God without the indwelling of His Spirit on the inside of you. In fact the scripture say this Spirit bears witness within our own spirit that we are

children of God (Rom8:16). If you have doubt of your sonship, chances are that you are operating in a contrary spirit. So don t be fooled about just the accuracy of prophecy, rather test the spirit and if truly you have the same spirit of God you should have a witness. Notice also that the scripture says that the spirit of God rids you of fear rather it gives you the boldness to call God your father (Rom8:15). So if the man with the sixth sense surrounds you with fear, could it be he is from the same God that wants you to call Him (God) daddy? Having understood that, you may then be thinking, God s sixth sense is for select few. I beg to disagree!! The sixth sense of God is for everyone of his children. Let me show you some scriptures before I hit the home run. But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God; that we might know the things that were freely given to us of God. (1Corith2:12) In whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation, -- in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise (Eph1:13) Notice, the first scripture says we have the spirit of God and not of the world (proving the existence of other spirits) in other to know what s ours. Put another way, the sixth sense is available to the believers so that beyond the physical senses, they have an understanding and a knowing of what s theirs. The later scripture helps us to understand when we all received the sixth sense. Did you see it? The Bible says it is when we believed. It goes without saying therefore that all believers have the capacity to perceive, know and understand what s ours without seeing them physically through the abiding sixth sense of God on the inside of us. That brings us to the base scripture. Faith is the substance of the things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Observe that what faith deals with are the things which have been freely given us and these things we can perceive through the Holy Spirit deposit on our inside. In other to grasp the workings of the spirit well, the scripture calls the word of God spirit and life (John6:63). As long as you can see the promises of God in his word, you will continually have the witness in your spirit that they are yours, and as long as you can believe by faith (in the unseen) that these things are yours and you act accordingly, you are acting and speaking based on what had not been received by the 5 physical senses, then you are actually acting through the sixth sense. Faith is the sixth sense of the believer which gives him the capacity to live beyond the seen realm, it is the proof of our spirituality, it is the conviction that we have received and accepted a thing beyond what s revealed to the physical senses(i.e. what we see, feel, taste, smell or touch). Every action of faith is proving that we have the sixth sense and that we know that we have those things (substance) even when we have not seen them. All believers have the sixth sense and that s what God expects His children to live by in the ever changing seasons of life. That is why the scripture said it three times in the scripture that the just (the righteous) shall live by faith (sixth sense) Hallelujah!!!! Are you living by your sixth sense?
