Presidential Plan 2011/ 2012 Yomna El- Faramawy

Electronics Engineering is one of the toughest majors at AUC, so I believe the EEA should play a big role in making every EENG students years on campus easier. There are a lot of activities that we can do to get to know each other and enjoy our hardest days. I have had experience in leading clubs and planning events and so, I believe I can make a difference.

My VISION is to create a team out of all EENG students. We should know each other, help each other and have fun together. I remember when I was a freshman, I looked up to the juniors and seniors for help and I do not know what I would have done without it. So, let us work together to make the most out of our experience as EENG students.

Plan as EEA President for the Academic year 2011/2012

1. FUNDRAISING In order for the club to function at all, it should have enough money. And since our funding is limited, the most important step in developing this club is FUNDRAISING. Being a club at such an elite University, a lot of profound companies would like to invest in its EENG students. There are some contracts that I have worked on during this semester that were delayed after last Januarys events, but I hope to bring them in soon. In general, I will begin by fundraising to not only bring in money, but also judges at our yearly competition and internship offers. 2. MEMBERS A main problem in the association has always been the lack of members. I intend to focus on freshmen and sophomores who are still new, excited and eager to work. Starting off by a fun day of team building training will help them find friends in each other and build a connection between them and the EEA. They will be guaranteed to stay members till they graduate. In this case, the juniors and seniors will become the heads who will help me lead this club and shape it according to their needs. 3. IEEE The IEEE is an organization we learn about in Eng 101 but never really get in touch with. I have very recently learned that we can become student members of the IEEE. This will offer us databases and technical conferences that we can attend. Most importantly, the IEEE will allow us to meet Engineering Majors in other universities in Egypt and in the region. I believe this aspect to be very necessary as AUC puts us in a bubble and isolates us from the rest of the community, which acts to our disadvantage in the work field. I have not been an IEEE member for a very long time, but from what I have already seen, there is a lot we do not know about other universities. We do not understand them and therefore, we might not be able to work with them when we graduate. There is also a lot that we can learn from them and improve ourselves. In general, the IEEE membership is an amazing opportunity that has to be advertised and benefited from.

4. ACADEMIC PROJECTS Having gathered enough money, the association shall start the interesting social events a) I would start by implementing the idea that has been going around for a few years now, which is creating The Electronics Club as a branch under the EEA. This branch will be responsible for holding technical session to teach the students hands on electronics and accommodate different projects ending with a competition. b) We could also be able to have welcome packs prepared by sponsors for the EENG students. These packs will include useful tools for the academic year. c) I believe that a lot of small projects such as a movie night or a game night have been able to create a community out of the EENG majors. Once sponsors are available, the higher board will set a regular date for these events, which are organized by the Entertainment Committee. d) We will have a trip so that we can all have fun in addition to studying. e) International guest lecturers will also be invited to enlighten us about the world outside of our university. f) We will hold Academic competitions. Every month, one professor will give the EEA one hard question. Whoever solves it first, receives a prize presented in the game/movie night. g) In addition to asking sponsors for finances, we will ask for internship and work offers for EENG students. h) As for Thesis presentations, multinational companies will be invited to watch the presentations, offer jobs or investment opportunities. i) I will continue trying to create the database of all projects and thesis that have been done in AUC involving our department. This will help with the thesis topic selection as well as the post graduate studies. j) And if anyone of us needs help studying, someone else would have taken the course before and has a few free minutes to help. So, academic help will be offered between students.

5. BOARD STRUCTURE The structure will remain the same in the Organizing Committee; however projects will be added to the Academic Committee. In addition to a Financial Coordinator, President Vice Academic Committee Entertainment Thesis Presentations Academic Competition Welcome Packs
