College/ Univ. Education

y name is Esther Yoon and I am a rising sophomore at an international school in Korea. In high school, I really began thinking about the future and considering what careers I want to pursue after college. For me, literature and history (social studies) have always been areas that sparked my interest. As I became involved in MUN and acquired debating and speech skills, I gradually became interested in going into a law-related profession. Although there are many other careers that I am considering, currently, my main interest is in becoming a lawyer. I hope the following career plan will guide me in the future and help me fulfill my wish to become a lawyer. College/University Education I am very ambitious and I hope to get into a very prestigious college. Most people choose their college based on its emphasized areas, but I am currently keeping all my options open as my desire to become a lawyer could easily change over the next few years of high school. Regardless of my major, I am working to get into colleges that are Ivy League level or very prestigious, large state colleges. I realize that the competition is very, very fierce, but to me, that only means that I must improve myself even more to surpass the rest. I would like the major in law or English literature, and a biology-related field might be my minor. (As I said earlier, I have a wide variety of areas I'm interested in).

Working up the ladder

Working my way up the ladder After finishing my education and receiving my degree(s), I hope to become a lawyer in a law firm. Because I will still lack experience at that point, I will probably be given more opportunities to observe, learn, and gain experience before becoming a "real" lawyer. As the years pass and I gain knowledge and experience, I hope I will be given the chance to possibly mentor young, inexperience lawyers and share my advice and experiences with them. After the peak After becoming an experienced lawyer, I still want to remain active and involved in society. I think that perfect career for me at this point would be a professor. My dad is a professor and he truly loves his job. He gets to interact with college students and teach every day, and that keeps him on his toes and he tells me he is always learning new things. For professors, the age for retirement is around 65, so I can be assured of a long and fruitful career before retiring Qualities to Achieving Goals:

After College Internships/Employment

After I receive my bachelor's degree, I actually do not plan on diving straight into a job. I am planning on continuing my education until possibly, a doctorate degree in the field I have chosen. Both of my parents have their doctorate degrees and they always emphasized to me the importance of continuing education. If I continue my education to receive higher degrees, it will open me up to a whole new level of potential employment. Also, because I hope to become a professor later on in life, I am leaning more towards continuing my education. Depending on the field that I choose, I may get a part-time job or internship to gain experience before full-time employment.
