Protecting our environment

The high level of energy efficiency of LEDs makes an important contribution to climate protection: because they use very little electricity, CO emission is reduced; saving resources ecologically goes hand in hand with using them economically. On top of this, lower emission from manufacturing, ecologically friendly production methods and less environmental pollution from transportation and disposal all help to produce the excellent energy balance of diode technology The symbol for particularly energy efficient products from the range :

Superior energy balance

Compared with a halogen lamp of the same light output, the LED is not only distinguished by significantly lower energy consumption, greater economic and luminous efficiency but also by its exceptionally long service life of up to 100,000 hours. Operating maintenance-free for 6 hours a day, 250 days a year, the useful life of a white LED is 33 years and over. A Halogen lamp, in contrast, needs replacing after approximately 1,3 years 40% of the energy used by an LED converted is converted into light and only 60% into heat. For halogen lamps, this ratio is around 10% to 90%
Internationally & Nationally recognised

So far all Hettich light systems up to a total output of 15W have been approved by the NRCS for the South African Market. Which means all ballasts with a maximum Capacity of up to 15W are authorized for sale in South Africa. Further approvals have been requested, but are still pending. NRCS is a public entity that administers compulsory specifications, otherwise known as technical regulations, on behalf of the Minister of Trade and Industry. Before legislation was passed to establish NRCS as a separate entity, regulatory matters were part of the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) - since the standards authority's inception more than 60 years ago. Since the gazetting of the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications Act in July 2008 (Act 5 of 2008), NRCS has become an autonomous body.
