1. INTRODUCTION

elink is an energy consumption management program that will help you increase your understanding of energy consumption and offer a more sophisticated means to analyse energy consumption.elink software will: Use the data from your efergy wireless monitor to produce graphs and demand curves for your energy consumption. Help compare different tariffs that could reduce energy costs Discover the advantages of shifting consumption to lower tariff rate periods Introduce ideas on energy saving plans How to contact us If you have any questions about using your efergy products, please feel free to contact us, or visit the website for up to date information, downloads, and frequently asked questions. Email your questions at software@efergy.com We aim to answer all emails within 48 hours. Efergy Customer Service. T +44 (0) 8450 177 769

2. ELINK IN FOUR STEPS

STEP 1. INSTALLATION Insert the CD into your PC, open the set-up program (setup.exe) and follow the instructions. When you install this software make sure: Date and time of your e2 wireless monitor and your PC are the same.
(Remember adjusting date and time again when replacing batteries into the monitor)

You have Internet connection. You must have Administrator privileges When running Windows Vista, make sure the User Access Control (UAC) feature is turned off before running this software
IMPORTANT: The numbers on the wireless monitor and elink software may vary from one another. Some data sets can be interpreted differently. You may find data on the display differ to that on PC. The wireless electricity monitor and elink cannot be used as a comparison to your electricity meter. Electricity meters have to conform to much stricter guidelines and testing procedures, which are not applicable to wireless monitors. All data collected from the e2 shuold be for reference only.

STEP 2. ADJUSTING TARIFF Before downloading any data from your wireless monitor please pay attention to the following instructions: 1. Identify the tariff with an ID number for future reference. 2. Adjust the values on the software to a rate charged by your supplier. STEP 3. COLLECT DATA FROM MONITOR Once the set-up of the tariff has been adjusted, set-up of the elink software is complete. Connect your wireless monitor to your PC. Connection should be made with USB cable provided. To collect data, click on the COLLECT DATA button on the top right hand side of the screen. A green bar will display the amount of time left for data to be downloaded. When complete you will be able to access to all applications on the elink page. STEP 4. APPLICATIONS Click on the different application headings to get a view of your electricity consumption data. You will be able to: observe your hourly, daily, weekly and monthly consumptions graphically see your own average consumption curve for the week and the year compare and make alternative tariff analysis

3. TARIFF SETTINGS

On your electricity bill you will find all the details for setting the tariff: Tariff ID: you need to identify your tariff settings with a name or code in order to recognise this tariff settings. This will allow you to save tariff settings changes and see the effect on shifting electricity suppliers. Select Single or Dual tariff Set the cost per kWh and the time (dual tariff): this is the amount of money you pay for each unit of energy consumed. For dual tariff you need to set the time each tariff starts. Monthly standing charge. This is a fix amount you may pay to your energy utility. Check your energy bill to find this out. If this is given on your bill as a quarterly figure, divide it by 3.
TIP: If you are charged more for the first number of kWh used per quarter, then a lower rate thereafter, please perform the following calculation and add the data to the monthly standing charge settings. Example: if first 200kWh per quarter charged at 18p, all units thereafter charged at 12p, then (0,18/kWh - 0,12/kWh) x 200kWh = 12 per quarter = 3 per month.

4. PERSONAL SETTINGS

Personal settings: Please enter the correct information into the boxes. For carbon ratio the UK 0,43 kg. of CO2 is emitted per one kWh of electricity. Consumption plan/target*: with elink you can create your own consumption targets, set your energy consumption target by defining the following parameters: Target amount: please enter the amount for analysis Your type of plan: please choose target setting between kWh used, costs () or carbon emissions (kg.CO2) Time period of your plan: define periods for comparison - daily, weekly or monthly plans. Target follow up: on the left side of the program you will find an indicator that will tell you how you are to your target. The indicator will show you: Good or Bad. A blue colour suggests you are within the targets set. An orange color suggests you are below your target and consuming more than planned. Distance: The percentage shown relate directly to how you are to your target. Example: Blue 50% indicator will mean you are using half of the target set.
*Setting a plan needs a wide knowledge of your average consumption. We recommmend playing for a while with the program until you recognize your consumption figures before setting a plan.

7. HOW TO DISPLAY ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION DATA

Press the DISPLAY DATA button to discover your energy consumption profile at different periods of time. Periods: 24 hours: displays daily consumption taken at hourly periods. Find out at which times you consume most! Week-days: displays your daily consumption within a week. Check the differences between workdays and weekends! Daily-months: displays your daily consumption within each month. Can you explain why you consumed the most on a certain day? Monthly-year: here the program displays monthly consumption within current year. Discover different consumption patterns between seasons - what effect does winter and summer time have on consumption? Consumption curve: go to section 8 of the booklet for more information. Select viewed data: Above the main summary you will find three buttons: ENERGY, COSTS, CARBON FOOTPRINT. Select the unit (kWh, , kg.CO2) to check the value of your indicators. What does the orange color bar mean? This data belongs to the maximum value (peak) on the graphs.

8. CONSUMPTION CURVE

Daily consumption bar (week-days) The daily consumption curve represents the demand for energy throughout a 24 hour period (from 00:00 to 23:59). You should be able to identify trends and different periods of the day when electricity use changes. Typical daily demand curves will show peak usage between the morning and evening, before and after you leave for work or children go / return from school. The curve displays what time you consume most electricity and most importantly how you can change this behaviour. Reducing your consumption at energy peak periods and shifting these to off-peak periods you will save money and CO2 emissions. The week-day-curve displays average consumption over a week. This allows the user to compare and understand daily changes in energy demand within a week. Discover the differences between your demand on a work-day and a weekend!
