The UMA 3rd National Health, Nutrition and Safety Health Fair 2011. Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) in collaboration with the USAID funded Health Initiatives for the Private Sector (HIPS) Project, National Drug Authority(NDA) and the Ministry of Health(MOH) is organizing the Third annual National Nutrition, Health and Safety health fair scheduled for the July 7 th9th,2011 at Lugogo show grounds under the theme Increasing Public- Private Partnerships in Health Service Delivery. This years Nutrition and safety health fair will have the following activities: 1. Exhibitions The 2011 National nutrition and safety Health fair targeted exhibitors include: Government organs, Hospitals ,Pharmacies, Pharmaceutical Industries, the Food and Beverages Sector, Research centers, Health Oriented NGOs, Herbal Products manufacturers & dealers, Medical and paramedical schools, Nursing schools, Health Insurance providers, Manufacturers and dealers in medical Equipment, Hotels, Health Related Associations, natural nutrition products, companies with health programs, manufacturers ,suppliers and providers of safety products and services, Institutions that deal in the above etc. There are 3 available spaces for exhibition include: conference hall, the open area and in the common tent

2. Medical Camp A medical camp will be held where the surrounding community will be able to access free consultation, medical checkup and treatment of various diseases. The medical camp will have four clinics namely: The General Clinic, Eye Clinic, Cancer Clinic, Immunization Clinic and Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) services. Over 1500 people are expected to seek services from the medical camp.

3. A health Science and a Career Guidance Seminar. The seminar, whose aim is to encourage students to think of health sciences as a career, targets over 1000 secondary school students from various schools in and outside Kampala. By the end of the seminar, participants (students and teachers) will be able to: Appreciate the importance of sciences in national development. Understand the basic academic requirements for one to join a given science profession. Acquire basic tips in-teaching, learning, revising and passing sciences.

Appreciate the various health professions Identify the various institutions training different health professions.

Facilitators will come from different institutions namely: Mulago Para Medical School, Makerere University Medical School, Uganda Pharmaceuticals Association, Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Dates: July 9th, 2011 4. Health Education: The general public will receive information and reading materials on the following health issues: Family Planning, Malaria, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, STIs and cancer of the breast and the cervix. Dates: July 7th-9th, 2011 5. Networking Luncheon A networking luncheon under the theme Health, Safety and Standards has been organized with an expected attendance of over 300 executives from different member companies. The guest of honor is expected to be Honorable Bidandi Ssali who will give a key note address on health, safety and Standards.
