Fisheries: Major Initiatives


With a separate leasing policy, there is a provision of allotment of state owned land to multi-national companies Provisions are made by Government of Gujarat in the leasing policy for village ponds land. Some of them are: Leasing period is 10 years Leasing procedure is carried out by F.F.D.A. Concerned village Panchayat is responsible for providing lease for fish culture Lease amount is paid to the respective Panchayat after deducting expenditure VAT reimbursement scheme: Fisheries department provides diesel on a subsidized rate (VAT is paid by the fisheries department) Jaynti Rohu seeds are introduced for an enhanced fish production Financial assistance to the farmers/fishermen To provide information about the latest development in the Aquaculture, periodical workshops are arranged in the selected FFDAs As per Fisherman Group Accident Insurance scheme, incase of accidental death, premium is being paid by the government.
