Biological Activity
BIRB 796 is a small molecule p38 MAPK inhibitor with an Kd of 0.1 nM. It is more potent than SB 203580 on p38 and p38 MAPKs; It is a potential agent for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.[1] BIRB 796, alone and in combination with conventional and novel therapeutic agents. BIRB 796 blocked baseline and bortezomib-triggered upregulation of p38 MAPK and Hsp27 phosphorylation, thereby enhancing cytotoxicity and caspase activation. [2]
