ABOUT THE CONFERENCE In the past 15 years, Philippine microfinance has become one of the most dynamic and vibrant sectors in the world. However, recent issues and developments in the global microfinance arena are prompting microfinance stakeholders to revisit goals, products and practices in microfinance. As part of this process, the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI) will hold its annual conference on July 28-29, 2011 at the Hyatt Hotel Manila with the theme Making A Difference: Multi-Stakeholder Action Towards Responsible Microfinance. The conference hopes to bring forth a multi-stakeholder approach to protecting microfinance clients and promoting responsible financial products and practices. The conference also aims to tackle pressing issues facing microfinance globally, such as multiple borrowing and non-transparency of prices, and discuss pro-active measures that will help address these issues and challenges. The conference is MCPIs annual event that brings together some 250 important microfinance stakeholders representing practitioners (NGOs, banks and cooperatives), funders, government institutions, donors, investors and other support organizations.
