The Process of soap making ..

THE SOAP

Cut , stamp & shrink Wrap Or paper wrap

III II

Add color & perfume at 70C , Then pour in mold to set for 4 hrs

Stir using a hydrophil type SS stirrer to avoid foam generation & do add 1 to 1.5% water during melting Charge the SN flakes in the vessel with steam jacket system And stabilize the temperature at 70-75C

The pot with heating jacket

8/14/2007

Take clean pot.

8/14/2007

10

Start heating, take material in a pot, mix gently & continue

8/14/2007

11

Add more flakes, while mixing.

Your queries our answers ..

Is there anything like minimum batch size for the process? You could start off with a lab batch of 1 kg or a commercial batch of up to tons based on your vessel size , our standard minimum order pack is 30kg What type of reactor vessel & stirrer do I need to use for making soap from Galaxys soap flakes? Both vessel & stirrer should be of SS. The stirrer should be such that no foam is generated & optimum color mixing is achieved in the molten mass. Do keep the reactor closed to avoid/minimize moisture loss

Can I directly heat the vessel or do I need to have a steam jacket system of melting flakes? You need to use steam jacket system for melting ,oil in jacket can also be used but temperature should be around 100C What is the temperature to be maintained for melting SN flakes? You can maintain temperature in the range of 70-80C Will there be any moisture loss during heating & do I need to add water externally to avoid transparency loss due to the same? Yes , there will be moisture loss during heating & you need to add 1 to 1.5% of water to compensate moisture loss.

At what temperature do I need to add color & perfume? You may add color & perfume at around 70C -75C Are the flakes compatible with both oil soluble & water soluble color & perfume? Yes , but do conduct sufficient stability studies at your end with respect to the particular color/perfume which you use Can herbal/cosmetic ingredients be added to the soap ; would it affect the transparency in any way? Yes you can , but here again do conduct sufficient stability studies How much time does the molten mass take to set prior to cutting & stamping? It takes 4 to 5 hours at room temperature to set completely

How do I avoid air bubble formation during melting of flakes? Keep the molten mass without stirring to allow the air bubbles to rise to the top, then pour the molten mass in the mould , air bubbles will rise to the top. What is the final moisture content in the soap so generated? The final moisture would be in the range of 17 18% Can I reuse the chips generated during cutting/stamping? Yes you can Will the soap give optimal foam in both soft & hard water? Yes Will the transparency remain throughout till the soap is depleted? Yes , to ensure the same the soap is to be kept in perforated tray after each usage

Will the soap become mushy after few rinse cycles; do I need to take any precaution to avoid mushiness? Please keep the soap in a dry soap dish , else it would absorb moisture & thus become mushy. Can the soap made from SN flakes be marketed for both body wash & hair wash? Body wash is preferable , hair wash is not recommended since it has some soap content & pH is around 9.0 When you say pH controlled skin friendly can we have a final transparent bar of neutral pH? No , but we do offer Syndet noodles from which you could make neutral pH opaque soap. On keeping on the market shelf is the transparency affected by regional temperature variation globally? No. But do ensure storage temperature is not below 10C 15C & not above 35C-40C.

What is the shelf life of the soap made from your flakes? One year under proper storage conditions with respect to temperature & humidity. What is the ideal packing & is there any specific method to be followed for packing? You may either shrink wrap or use the Butter paper wrap as is being currently followed universally for soaps.
