CIS Scheme

Firstly you need to register with the Inland Revenue as CIS- The CIS registration phone number is 0845 915 4515 and the link to theirwebsite is www.hmrc.gov.uk/cis. There is a link on the left hand side that says "register with CIS". Personally we d try and do it over the phone but if not, use the link. Once you are registered all we need from you is the "UTR" number that they give you. They will tell you it will take 2-8 weeks to get your UTR number but at the moment we are getting them back within a couple of weeks. There will be a higher tax rate until we get your UTR number through, but once you let usknow what it is we can take your deductions at 20% It is advisable to seek the advice of an accountant in order to gain your rebate on potential tax due back and also what expenses you can offset against your tax liability. Our retained margin will be 20 per week along with 2.50 for insurance.

Self Employed Scheme

You cannot use this scheme if you are based on a construction site you would need to go through the CIS scheme above. With the Self Employed option you are responsible to so rt out your taxes owed at the end of the financial year. It is recommended that you register as Self Employed with the HMRC and are paying your type 2 National Insurance contributions as you go. Obviously there are many benefits to offsetting your expenses against your income at the end of the financial year - if you would like the advice of an accountant, which we would always recommend - let us know. Our weekly retained margin is 25 along with 2.50 for insurance.

Umbrella Scheme

An umbrella company is an alternative to being paid PAYE by your client or agency and is safe and compliant. You become an employee of the umbrella company (i.e. Clipper Payrolls Limited), and receive all the statutory rights that go with it. In addition working through an umbrella company, you can claim expenses that you incur whilst going about your workthat reduces your tax liability which in turn should improve your net pay. Umbrella companies fall outside the IR35 legislation. (Despite being frequently referred to as an IR35 umbrella company or IR35 umbrella companies). They also fall outside the 2007 Managed Service Companies (MSC) legislation, so they are a safe way to be paid. Here's what you can expect from Clipper Contracting umbrella scheme

Our retained margin is a competitive 20 per week. (It's taken before tax so could cost you as little as 16.00 from your bottom line) along with 1.50 for insurance.
