PREFACE

Studying MBA is all about knowing the industries, and applying strategies for managing and running it successfully. I visited Oriental Manufacturers Pvt. Ltd. Being an MBA student, this industrial training was a great opportunity for me to have a glance on the scenario of working of different departments of industry that includes the HR, Marketing, IT, and the Production departments. Such industrial visits help a student to link between the theories and the real working of the industries by applying them practically. It helped me know my abilities, skills, interest, and the experience added more to my knowledge.

EXECUTIVE SUMMERY

Industrial training is the most important part of education. Only theoretical knowledge alone cannot succeed. Industrial training helps students for better understanding and also gives them the chance to show their skill. I have done my winter internship at Oriental Manufacturers Pvt Ltd, Established in 1998 & located at

Petrochemical Complex at Ranoli, Vadodara. Company also provide complete solutions from pre-project planning to final installations. For achieving the objectives of this training I had visited all the departments and I learned the all the activities done by the each department. For that I had met to the head of the all department and then he instructed me for learning the objectives and routine activities of the particular department. Marketing department of the OPML is very active and carry the activities like enquiry generations, feeling up the tender and confirming the work order with clients. Planning and design department is working effectively for planning and designing the work order and provides satisfaction to the clients. IT department is playing a vital role for processing and interdepartmental management of the company. Company is having continuous growth of 50% scince the year 2006-07, in technically qualified personnels and repeating more than 150 clients.

Chapter 1 Introduction
This project has been done as part of the academic schedule. First study about the whole manufacturing unit has been carried out. In this Various section of the manufacturing unit need to be learn. Main objective to study it to understand how the manufacturing unit produce particular goods. To study the whole organization, hierarchy of the organization, various Department like Finance, Marketing, Human Resource as well as Quality control department I have visited all the departments individually I learned the all the activities done by the each department. For that I had met to the head of the all department and then he instructed me for learning the objectives and routine activities of the particular department.

Company is providing manufacturing and services for Mechanical and Process Design Site Fabrication Erection & Commissioning of Equipments. Overhauling of Equipments with or without Supply of Spares required. Re-building of Old Equipments. Supply of Spares. Annual Maintenance Contracts. Health Assessment of Process Equipments

Chapter 2 Research Methodology


PROJECT OBJECTIVE
The project is aimed at evaluating the different process and interdepartmental management of Oriental Manufacturers Pvt. Ltd. To study the different activities carried out by production, Marketing, Quality, IT, Planning, Design department.

METHODOLOGY
The methodology to be adopted for the project is explained as under: 1. The initial step of the project was studying about the company, visiting the all department and plant visit. 2. Evaluating the routine activities of all the departments. 3. After the evaluation of activities of all the department finding the interdepartmental connections for working process of the company. 4. Methods and technology used for the communication process between departments. 5. The project will focus on the study of overall performance and process analysis of the interdepartmental management. For gathering the complete information necessary for the study I have met head of the each department and learned their activities and their need and process of communication with other department.

Information of the study has been collected from my primary visit to the plant and visit the each and every process department and secondary sources of data like company website,

brochure of the company, past record of the company etc.

LIMITATIONS
In spite of my continued efforts to make the project as accurate and wide in scope as possible, certain limitations are becoming evident while implementing the project. These limitations cannot be removed and have to be accepted as permanent constraints in implementing the project. Some limitations, which have been identified, by me are: 1. Study of the finance department is excluded from the study as company has not allowed me to have information about finance department. 2. The segment wise and product wise study of the various product segments and units of the company have been excluded from the scope of the project due to data and time constraints. 3. Time is one of the limiting factors of the study. The duration of the training is only 10 days which is too short to study the organization deeply. 4. The executives were hesitant to reveal complete information since it was confidential.

Chapter 4 Study conducted at OMPL


As I want to study the complete management process of the company and interdepartmental process of the company, I have visited all the departments like Marketing, IT, Planning, Design, Production, Quality control.

Marketing department
The main activity of the marketing department is to market the company, company's products, services provided by the company. In OMPL the major activities of the Marketing department is to maintain the work process of the order from the clients, generate the new enquiry, felling up online as well as offline tenders. Following flow chart is showing the process for the Marketing department.

In OMPL Marketing department includes the main activities explained below Enquiry generation For the enquiry generation OMPL is doing different activities like creating awareness among the target market. For creating awareness about the company's process and services company is considering the factors like Target Market, Current Market of the company, Requirement of the company as well as market. For getting the maximum enquiry Marketing Department is promoting the company by giving advertisement in different magazines, Held stalls in local as well as national level exhibition. Company is also getting new enquiries from the reference of their existing clients. For that company needs to give maximum satisfaction to the current clients. The another way for getting the order is feeling up the online and offline tenders. In offline tenders company is searching new tender offer from news papers. On the other side for the online tenders company has registered to the different tender provider's website. Company is also became the member ass vendor registration of the some government and non government organization like BHEL, Engineers India Ltd., Lanxes. Meco India, GWIL etc. Follow up and deal with the customers Once enquiry is generated marketing department is taking care of the clients requirement like if they want to visit the plant and want to see the processing of the company, technology and equipments used in the company etc. Marketing department is also working on the cost estimation for the project having the concern with planning and design departments. Also passes the information of the enquiry to the other departments like planning and design for processing the order further which includes design, cost estimation, facility provided to the clients, rules. pricing of the order etc. Order confirmation In the process of the order confirmation sometimes negotiation with the client is occurs. This negotiation can be about the pricing and sometimes this can be for the delivery timings of the Job. In this order confirming process all the conditions, rules, what services and when it will be provided to the clients is made clear. This is called as Contracting Data.

Planning & Design department


As the name suggest Planning department is concern with all planning activities. In OMPL planning department is doing macro planning of the any assignment. Very first activity done by the planning department for the new project is organize the kick-off meeting. In which all the departments like marketing, Production, Quality control, Design are included. As the Order Confirmation Report is received kick-off meeting is organized. For the feedback of the OCR planning department is generating Internal Work Order which is passed to the all department which includes the information about the contact person, specifications, design drawing, and all other details regarding the project. As this process is completed Design department comes in to the picture. For OMPL Innovate Knowledge Solution is doing the activity of designing. This company is situated in Ahmedabad. After this raw material requirement as per the design is decide and this is passed to the purchase department for the purchasing of the raw material. Once design drawing is prepared by the Innovate knowledge Solution this design is passed to the client for the approval. Approval rating is given by the client which includes the ratings like code1, code 2, code 3. In code 1 ratings means that design is almost correct but requires little changes which is mentioned in the report. Code 2 refers that design is having some moderate changes and mentioned in the report. Whereas code 3 mentions that design is having major change so complete design should be prepared again. Apart from this activity Planning department keep the complete track record of the project. For any query or in the case of any problem during the project planning department with the concern department for the problem interact with the clients. This department also gives follow up on the regular basis to the clients. As per the daily activity planning department is conducting daily morning meeting with production and quality department for having the brief review of the ongoing project. As needed weekly meetings also been conducted through planning department.

To diffuse the effect of Global Competition, OMPL has adopted the latest concepts of management practices and provided appropriate training with the help of leading institute from time to time for up-gradation & development of its Human Resource Some of the efforts of OMPL to achieve this are: Employee Personality Development (Attitude, skill & Knowledge) Canteen facility: It is providing employee to take Break-fast, Lunch and Dinner at economic price. First aid facility: It is given for quick remedy of employees, when any accident occurs during the working hours of the organization. Vehicle parking space: It is provide for employee, worker and visitors separately.

Employee Records
OMPL keeps the perfect & day-to-day employee record of the entire employee in the company. Here all the employees are given electronic I-card which facilitates employees to use electronic attendance system & their data are entered in the computer according to the their code. All the employees record is written down accurately whether the employees are new or old. From the employees records only the company can know that to whom the company should given the promotion & to whom the company should give demotion give demotion. From all the working period of the employee, the company calculates the provident fund & the allowances of the entire employee. From the employee record, the company can know the employees honesty performance, efficiency, loyalty etc.

Recruitment & Selection Process Recruitment in OMPL is basically done by management, in consultation with the concerned department for which new employee is required. It is not a regular event as recruitment is done only when there is any vacancy or some requirement comes up in the organization.

Recruitment process: HR Department receives requisitions. Locating and developing the sources of required number and type of employees. Identifying the prospective employee. Communicating the information. Generally, two types of SOURCES are used in OMPL: 1. Internal Recruitment: It is generally done through promotion and training programs. 2. External Recruitment: Direct Interview: Through Consultancies Advertisement.

Selection Process The Selection Process is concerned with determining whether an applicant meets with all the qualification need to perform a particular job. It means right person a right place. It is very important because of a wrong person is selected it will cost to the company. Need of selection would be arise when vacancies are made in organization. At OMPL selection is done by direct interview in which Director, HR manager, and the head of the concern department is present. After selection training is provided to the new employee. When some new machinery or technology is been implemented in the company for that training or development program is also conducted. Which increase the efficiency of the employee and ultimately the producing capacity of the company. Other Activities to motivate the employees For motivating the employees OMPL is conducting some very good routine and regular activities which is listed below celebration of the festivals celebrations of Birthday of employees cricket and volleyball tournaments and for the same company is having play ground. performance evaluation and then giving appraisals Awarding the employee by employee of the month Praising for the achievement Giving rewards for new achievements.

Chapter 5 Analysis and conclusions

Analysis of interdepartmental management


OMPL's interdepartmental management is being maintained in a very effective manner. For that company is having separate IT department. Mainly IT department is acting to maintain smooth and continues interconnection between different departments. For that company has implemented the software named SAP. IT department is also maintaining the complete communication process of the company. OMPL is using latest technology for the same. Company is having telephone on the desk of each employee. This telephones are inter connected through intercom facility which allows employees to communicate easily within the department and inter department also. Company is also having computer on the desk of each employee with the internet facility. For that company is having fiber optic connections which is having length of 300 meters. At OMPL star topology is used for establishing the network among the each employees computer. For sharing the some information of emails company is using Microsoft outlook express. Company is using SAP for it's different functions like CRM, MRP, financial functions, sales, distribution etc. Company is having employees less than 200 and less than 100 users of SAP so OMPL is using SAP Business One. Conclusion
As company is working for the manufacturing of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, vehicle washing machine etc. OMPL's manufacturing is completely dependent on order of their clients. So company is needed to satisfy their clients so that company can get maximum order from existing as well as other clients. For doing the same company is required to maintain the quality of their work and delivery timing of the project. For that every department like production, planning, purchase, quality control needs to be connected with each other regularly. SAP is playing vital role for the same and company can maintain all the work and process as it should be maintained. All the department of the OMPL is working together very effectively and showing their best output for the future and growth of the company. This resulted in the continuous growth of 50% since the year 2006-07, in technically qualified personnel and repeating more than 150 clients.
