The Easy-Off Oven Cleaner contains Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH), also known as lye or caustic soda, which is a strong, corrosive base, used in many industries and cleaning products. Pure Sodium Hydroxide appears as white, crystalline pellets, although it is dissolved in this product.

Firstly, the best way to be safe while using this product is to always follow the instructions on the label. Rubber gloves should always be worn while using the Easy-Off Oven Cleaner, to prevent chemical burns or injury from the corrosive compound contained within the cleaner. It is recommended that this product not be used on surfaces that are susceptible to corrosion, as the cleaner will damage them. For storage, always replace the safety cap before storing, to prevent the likely hood of accidental spraying. Make sure none of the chemical is on the outside of the can, clean thoroughly with soap and water if it is. To dispose, make sure the can is empty, with no product remaining inside.
