The Story
Te Vara Nui Village is named after a beautiful Rarotongan maiden Te Vara, who in her younger days performed throughout the Pacific, proudly show casing the Cook Islands Maori culture to the world. The Village is reflective of her past with the Ura Po performance and is a chance for her to give back something to the people of the Cook Islands by reviving and allowing the world to once again, relive the memories and traditions of our Cook Islands culture. Greatly respected by everyone on the island, she has dedicated her life to her family and our culture, along with trying to accomplish her mission of preserving and portraying the ethnicity, arts, and crafts of the Cook Islands and its people. With her grace and beauty, she has worked timelessly with her daughter Moana and son in law Fodil to create and revive this dream and bring to life, the very essence of our Cook Islands spirit through tradition, culture, dance and beauty. Location
Te Vara Nui Cultural Village is Rarotongas newest and most interactive cultural attraction.Te Vara Nui Village is conveniently located right in the centre of beautiful and popular Muri Beach on the Eastern side of the island of Rarotonga. Buses stop right outside the entrance on the main road of the Village. Approximately 20 minutes drive from main town Avaunt and half an hour drive from the other side of the island. Complimentary return transfers are offered to those who have booked our Village Tour, Ura Po Over Water Cultural Experience, or Combo Extravaganza

The Products
Te Vara Nui Village Tour Local artisans and craftspeople will show you how we carve, weave, prepare our local dance costumes and cook our traditional foods. You will also visit a Marae (sacred enclosure for religious ceremonies) and more Interactivity is a key theme to our tour and we invite you to participate in many of these activities, learning and experiencing the true Cook Islands way.

Whether you chose to hire our entire venue or one of our separate Ares we can cater to your requirements. Our three Are Kai restaurant venues all provide a unique setting to enhance your special day. Whether a small or large wedding party, we can cater 20 to 250 seated guests and up to 300 for cocktails with stunning views from every seat.A series of delicious set menus, canaps and buffet style specialties are available with our chef and his team who are happy to create a special menu that will make your celebration a culinary pleasure. To complete your wedding several dining entertainment options are available with each Are Kai restaurant able to be set up for speeches, DJs, live entertainment and dance floor.

Ura Po Weddings Celebrate your wedding on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday with the Ura Po performance, in one of our three restaurants for only $199.00 per person.
