I am the worst steak cooker. I always kill the meat when I try to cook it. I was worried I had done this with the Holten Choice Seasoned Flat Iron Steaks (#6044) when I tried cooking them on my stovetop skillet. Thank you Alisons Pantry for bulk products! Last Saturday night, I knew my son had a party to attend. What I didnt realize was the party was at our house and I was in charge of dinner for teenage boys! 8 cups cubed/torn AP French Bread (#6147) 1 cups Dole frozen strawberry pieces (#2633) 1 cups milk 6 eggs, beaten tsp. cinnamon cup flour cup white sugar 2 tsp. vanilla tsp. salt 1 cups frozen blueberries (2030) 4 oz. cream cheese, diced - 1 cup chopped nuts Berry Sauce cup white sugar 1 tsp corn starch 2 tbsp. orange juice 1 cup frozen blueberries* (#2030) Directions: Grease 9x13 pan and put bread pieces in pan. In large bowl, beat flour, milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and salt till smooth. Stir in half of blueberries then pour mixture over bread making sure to distribute as evenly as possible. Top with remaining berries, nuts and cream cheese pieces. Refrigerate at least one hour, or up to 24 hours. Meanwhile, make Berry Sauce. In small sauce pan, stir sugar and corn starch together, then add juice, stirring until smooth and combined. Add berries. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to medium heat and cook about four minutes, stirring constantly until slightly thick. Remove from heat. Serve warm over casserole. To bake casserole, remove from fridge up to 15 minutes ahead if in fridge overnight. Bake in 400 oven 25-35 minutes uncovered until set. Let stand about 10 minutes before serving. 1 pkg cream cheese softened 1 c cheddar cheese shredded cup green onions chopped c mayonnaise 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce 1 lb roast beef 1 lb ham 12-14 dill pickles 2 loaves French bread (#6147) Slice bread lengthwise-remove some bread so there is a dip for the meat to sit in. Mix first 5 ingredients in a small bowl and spread on bread. Layer meat in the top and bottom of bread slices. Place pickles on right before serving. Place top of bread on and slice in 1" slices. I recently took a Master Food Preserving course and was happy to learn more in about using Clear Jel. The USDA recommends using Clear Jel (#5786), only fruit pie fillings that are preserved saying, This modified food starch produces the correct thickening, even after the fillings are canned and baked. Other Jel starches, such as corn starch, break down and result in a runny filling. Clear must be used as the thickener in these recipes; there is no substitution. (They sure also mentioned not using the Instant Clear Jel for preserving.) I am making bags of this on hand for canning season this summer for myself as I have a few Cindi McNiven, Kingman, AZ well as for my customers.

I made my first batch of homemade macaroni and cheese today. I used Shirley J White Cheddar Soup & Sauce Base (#5242) and was amazed at how easy it was! My husband was amazed that I mastered the task on my first try! (And my waistline appreciated the lower calorie & lower fat version since it didnt start with butter!) Surprise company threw me for a loop at dinner last week, and I had to figure out how to stretch my chicken broccoli alfredo to serve 10 instead of six. When nibbling on the Cherry Central Premium Dried Tart Cherries (#5852), I had to pace myself. These were so good by themselves I could have eaten the whole bag by itself. I decided to use them in one of my favorite dried fruit recipes...scones. I just swapped out my usual dried cranberries for these dried cherries along with some white chocolate chips and almonds !
