An aspirin or a video game? Distracting patients by immersing them in a virtual world, sometimes by using a video game, appears to help reduce pain -- even in elderly patients who aren't used to such exposure, "I was surprised to see the level of analgesic response that the elderly patients demonstrated, because these subjects had little or no previous experience with video games or virtual reality (VR) distraction, unlike our younger subjects," said Sam Sharar, an anaesthesiology professor at Washington University, who worked on the study. The VR therapy involves a video game on a head-mounted display developed by Hunter Hoffman, a cognitive psychologist and researcher at the University of Washington. In the experiment, presented at the annual meeting of the American Pain Society, 25 adults aged 60 and older were randomly assigned to either a low-immersion or a highimmersion VR environment, using a program called SnowWorld. The high-immersion group moved along a virtual path through an icy canyon populated

detailed calculations on street traffic in Bali is not Bali Transportation Chief Warns: Chronic Traffic the coming total traffic jam are not unconnected from the poor quality Congestion Just 5 Years yet in hand. But, if viewed only of public transport which compels from the perspective of the people to purchase their own Away Five year into the future, Bali may be experiencing total gridlock. With annual vehicular growth of 12.28% trailed by a much-lower growth rate of only 2.45% in new road construction, Bali is threatened with eventually becoming a large parking lot, so crowded with cars and motorbikes that no one's going anywhere. Five years in the future, Bali will experience total gridlock on its main roads, warned the head of Bali's Transportation, Information and Communication Department, Made Santha, quoted in Bisnis Bali in a coordination meeting on licensing and permit issuance as a means of improving service in the transportation, information and communication sectors. Santha admitted that number of vehicles operating in Bali now exceeding 2 million units and growing at 12.48% per year, space on the roads for new vehicles is certain to soon outpace the road capacity that is growing at the much lower rate of 2.28% per year. Made Santha decried the growing traffic chaos in Bali, blaming the difficulties in acquiring land for the construction of new roads or the expansion of existing ones. He also cited the rapid growth of tourism that is growing at more than 12% per year and is putting added pressure on the road system. If you look at all the factors in the field, within 5 years Bali will experience a severe traffic congestion problem. He also said the growth in vehicles. The government cannot close their eyes to this problem, Santha admonished. Saying the problem of traffic congestion will only be solved over time and through coordination between the central government, provincial and regional administrations. Santha said the soon-to-be-implemented Trans-Sarbagita bus system represents a step in the right direction. www.balidiscovery.com

by snowmen, igloos, penguins, mammoths and fish, viewing it all though a display that blocked most of their vision of the real world. They could look around to see sky above, canyon walls to their left and right, and below them a river teeming with mammoths and fish. With the click of a mouse they could toss snowballs at all the creatures. They also heard sound in stereo, such as the roar of a mammoth when a snowball struck, the splash of a snowball in the river, background music, and other effects. The low-immersion group used the same program with a display that did not block out the real world. Also, the image resolution was reduced, there were no sound effects, and no game-like interaction with the world -- simply a virtual walk on a path through a snowy canyon. Sharar's team performed two thermal simulations of the pain of a lumbar puncture, otherwise known as a spinal tap, for 30 seconds, once while subjects were not immersed in the VR program, and again when they were. "Results showed a significant reduction in sensory, emotional, and cognitive pain either kind," the researchers said in the abstract for their presentation. They added that the subjective analgesia effect was significantly greater in the highimmersion group. This sort of therapy may be as effective at controlling pain as an intravenous dose of hydromorphone, a very potent opoid analgesic, according to a study by Sharar and colleagues published in 2007. When the two are combined, the effect is compounded. The current study did not compare the effect of VR in different age groups, but Sharar has carried out similar, not-yetpublished studies on college-aged and middle aged participants, and d r a w n s o m e r o u g h generalizations. The subjective pain reduction was similar in all groups, and even slightly better in the elderly compared to college-aged participants, he said. The VR therapy is now used in a handful of U.S. burn centres, and it has also been used with patients who have psychiatric disorders such as phobias and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Life on the Beach A Bali lifeguard's day begins at 6:00 a.m. when a Balawista must already be on post and placing flags indicating areas open or closed to swimming. Yellow flags indicate safe-swimming conditions, while red flags or flags bearing a human skull mean that the beach is off-limits. The guards remain on watch throughout the day, watching for visitors who ignore warning flags or encounter any difficulties swimming in the open stretches of water. By 7:00 a.m. life preservers, jet skis and other safety equipment are at the ready; waiting for another day of busy beach activity. Each lifeguard station is staffed by seven staff, split into two shifts of 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 pm and a second shift that covers the beach until 7:00 p.m.. Berata continued: "Every Friday, all lifeguards, except those on beach patrol, are required to gather at the main post. The gatherings are used for additional instruction and guided discussions. Founded in 1972, the Balawista of Bali are now celebrating their 39th year of safeguarding Bali's southern beaches. www.balidiscovery.com

Stunt television show Jackass lost one of its stars overnight when Ryan Dunn, known for his death-defying and risky pranks, died in a car accident. Police said the accident took place about 2:30am Monday (local time) in West Goshen Township, Pennsylvania, and that Dunn was probably speeding at the time. An unidentified passenger was also killed. Day again punters and another week has come and gone with the blink of an eye. Not a really good week in footy with the Pies having a weekend off, but there was a good game on Saturday night with the Cats absolutely belting the Saints. I am looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season pans out. This week has also seen the crisis in Greece worsen to the point that the cost of a barrel of oil has dropped and the Yanky dollar is strengthening against ours. I'm not entirely sure how that works but I can sure feel for the people who will be bailing Aaliasj@kutaweekly.com them out. It seems the Germans will be hit with the task again, but who knows what will happen. On a completely separate note it seems old mate Benny Cousins has slipped back into rehab for a stint, and here's everyone thinking it was the stress of playing top grade footy that was making him hit the tiles. Silly boy. I did over hear a complaint from a tourist while plundering a case of small bintangs with some cronies this week about the mobile phone network up here, and it seems my fellow readers the phone companies are still working to get the system right. This fellow doesn't know how many times he had tried to call someone and not been able to get through. Sometimes his phone gets a message saying the network is busy, but, the biggest thing he complained about is the constant badgering from the phone company with text offers for everything from cheap calls to free burgers at KFC. How many times in a day would they send these annoying little texts. If I wanted to hear about it I would ask and don't think it's fair that they continually send them to us, so in effect I agreed with him. We do on occasion get emails from readers saying that people can't get through to advertisers in the paper which is a hard one to answer as it's the high quality telephone system and completely no fault of the paper or the advertisers. I think part of the problem is the ring tone up here, as when you make a call it's a single long tone as in Australia it is a distinct ring ring and because it's not what you are used to, you think it is an engaged tone. `It's only after living here for a long while that you get used to it and work around the network outages. I think at the end of the day Bali is a great place to stop for a while and kick back and enjoy your life and if the phone system is the worst thing that's gonna happen to you in life then your gonna have it pretty easy from here on in. Anyways, I could drone on for a want of better things but the hands are becoming a little shaky so it might be time for a coupla little greenys. I will close by saying we have a new exciting sponsor about to join the paper over the next few weeks and if you like to eat at an Australian owned high quality steak house then readers you are gonna love this. They only use the best quality imported steaks, and have one of the best priced wine lists I have seen for a long time. I will introduce them when they land in the paper over the next few weeks, so watch this space. Ok Punters, I rekn that's about my lot for the week so please stay safe, happy, healthy and always remember, the only reason people get lost in thought is because its unfamiliar territory. Enjoy your week. ALIASJ.

contributing factor to the accident," the West Goshen Township police department's report read. "Upon arrival, police located one vehicle off the road and in the woods that was fully engulfed in flames." A photograph posted to Dunn's Twitter account about two hours before the accident showed him drinking what appeared to be alcoholic beverages with two male friends. Dunn's Jackass co-star Johnny Knoxville wrote on Twitter after news of the accident broke: "Today I lost my brother Ryan Dunn. RIP Ryan, I love you buddy." The red-bearded Dunn, 34, appeared in the Jackass television series, which aired on MTV, and the franchise's three films. "We are devastated by the tragic loss of Ryan Dunn - a beloved member of the MTV family for more than a decade," said Van Toffler, president of the MTV Networks Music/Film Group which broadcast the Jackass series that ran from 2000-2002, before spinning off into a successful film franchise. "He made us all laugh and had the tireless enthusiastic approach to life of your favourite middle school friend. "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Ryan's family and friends. The Jackass brotherhood will never be the same." Dunn was also a cast member of reality television series Viva La Bam, in which most of the Jackass original cast appeared. More recently, Dunn and Jackass co-star Steve-O teamed up for a June 8 episode of the NBC TV game show Minute To Win It, and hosted the shows Homewrecker (MTV) and Proving Ground (G4 television). One of his most famous stunts involved inserting a toy car in his rectum and then going to the doctor for an X-ray. In 2005, Dunn was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and entered a first offender's program that allowed him to clear his record after a certain period of good behaviour, said Patrick Carmody, assistant district attorney in Chester County.

Crafty contortionist turns suitcase thief

A flexible thief squeezed into a large suitcase and then emerged to plunder valuables from other bags while inside the luggage compartment of a Spanish airport bus, police say. The thief had a partner who would buy a bus ticket and place the suitcase in a bus from Girona airport to Barcelona in north-eastern Spain, police said in a statement. "Once the trip began, he would get out of the suitcase, search for valuable objects and hide them in a smaller bag he carried with him," regional Catalan police said. The thief would then get back into the suitcase, to be reclaimed by his partner at the end of the 90-minute trip. Alerted by the repeated thefts, police inspected a suspicious bag on the bus and opened it up. "They saw there was a man doubled up almost like a contortionist," the statement said. The man had a mobile phone, a small bag and a sharp object to open zips and locks, police said. Officers boarded the bus and detained the man who had left the suitcase in the luggage compartment.

S h e a l s o admitted conducting an internet search into Sewart's boyfriend, Gary Knox, a codefendant, while the jury was still deliberating. Taxpayers were left picking up a bill of 6 million pounds ($10 million) after the judge was forced to discharge the jury when Fraill's actions came to light when Sewart told her lawyer. Fraill, who the court heard had contacted Sewart because she empathized with her, put her head on the table and sobbed uncontrollably as her jail term was announced. Lord Chief Justice Igor Judge, the head of the judiciary, said in a written ruling she was "a woman of good character" and had not been involved in an attempt to pervert the course of justice. But he said her actions had been flagrant breaches of orders made by the trial judge and also warned that a jail sentence for a juror committing similar contempt was "virtually inevitable." Sewart was given a two-month sentence suspended for two years after being found guilty of contempt, The use of the internet by jurors has already derailed several cases in countries including the United States. A Legal analysis conducted last year found that jurors' forays on the internet had resulted in dozens of mistrials, appeals and overturned verdicts in the preceding two years alone. Solicitor General Garnier said he did not think the internet made such cases more likely or jeopardize the jury system. "One doesn't need to get too hung up about the magic of the internet. Jurors have been able to gossip with their neighbors, be influenced by their friends and go to the public library to look up things," he said. Nobody would regard you as narrow minded. Yet, you've been skipping over certain matters because you feel you're already up to date on them. Once you were. But things are moving along swiftly, so much that unless you conduct a serious catch up session you could soon find you're actually behind the times.

HOROSCOPE PREDICTION 23 June - 29 June 2011

Libra
When you first began sidestepping certain topics, it's because you knew they were tricky and could cause upset. But you had no intention of hiding anything. Now, because of misunderstandings, you'll have to convince others of that. While this is bound to be challenging, the more swiftly you begin, the easier it will be.

KUTA CRUISES

Taurus
Don't argue with others' urgency about organising plans. The trick is to talk at length about what they have in mind but commit to nothing. With the actual circumstances changing regularly, within days they'd only have to reorganise those plans. In the meanwhile, you can explore your equally changeable options more thoroughly.

Scorpio
Once again you've been accused of being secretive. While from your perspective this is inaccurate, it's worth bearing in mind that others are neither as attentive nor as analytical as you are. Which means they simply don't see or hear as much as you do and, therefore, need to be

told.

Gemini
After a period during which even simple arrangements seemed to undo themselves for no reason, you're getting exasperated. Which is understandable. Actually, this cleared away ideas that were cluttering your mind and has left you with those that have potential. Focus on those now and you'll have a greater likelihood of success.

Sagittarius
If you're still reeling from the influence of last week's Sagittarius eclipsed Full Moon, it's no surprise. While this has also shaken up others, events have made it clear that certain once solid elements of your life can't continue as they are. Unsettling as this is, deep down you know this is progress.

Cancer
The past two eclipses triggered changes in the lives of others and in the world around you. But most of all, they've raised questions about your future. While you can't be sure what's next until after the third of these, the Cancer eclipsed New Moon on July 1, you can decide what should go.

Capricorn
Obviously, you'd rather make a single decision and stick with it. But not only is that not possible, with the world around you and your own life in transition, even simple arrangements must be regarded as a work in progress. The more flexible your approach, the more you'll learn from those changes.

NEW TO KUTA

Leo
Often when problems arise or there's a crisis, everybody will look to you. While you're usually superb at dealing with such matters, this time around you'd be well advised to leave things to those whose responsibility this is. They know more than they're acknowledging, which would put you at a distinct disadvantage.

Aquarius

Virgo
While you, as an earth sign, have a healthy respect for the facts, recently you've had to be particularly tough about certain delicate situations. At the time you couldn't to explain to others why such precision was necessary. Now that you're able to discuss it with them, make it a priority.

Pisces
Nobody works harder to ensure that things are as they should be, and that what you tell others is reliable. Except at the moment, it's not. This has nothing to do with you and everything to do with the dramatic and ongoing changes triggered by the current cycle of three eclipses. E-mail:info@kutaweekly.com

You've an amazing knack for soothing others' egos and, in the process, defusing potential battles. Currently, however, it would be better if you allowed those issues to surface, even if this means others will be head to head for a few days. These tensions will be more than justified by the resulting insights.

ALL ABOUT BALI

Lazy Lovina.
the island. Get around This is a good area for walking as the roads are relatively quiet and the beaches long and easily passable. Renting a bicycle is popular and again, easy to find. Many hotels have their own. You should be aware though that away from the coast road, there are a lot of steep hills. The easiest way to visit the surroundings of Lovina is by renting a motorbike. There are many roadside outlets and expect to pay between Rp 50,000 and 90,000 per day. The roads are quite good here and nothing like as crowded as in south Bali. Brahma Vihara Arama Brahma Vihara Arama, Dencarik. Bali's largest Buddhist monastery located near the village of Dencarik. The monastery is absolutely charming and commands lovely views. Whilst obviously Buddhist with its orange roof, numerous gold Buddhas and stupas recalling those at Borobudur, the carvings and ornamentation are very Balinese. The combination works well and if it were in a location easier to reach, this attraction would recieve far more visitors than it does. A visit here combines well with Banjar Hot Springs. Donation.. edit Your hotel can (and will offer repeatedly to) arrange day tours to the nearby sights including the beautiful highland scenery of Munduk to the south, the beaches of Pemuteran to the west, and the city of Singaraja to the east. All are within easy reach. A dolphin trip at dawn at Lovina You will be offered dolphin sighting trips every other minute. These leave the main beaches each morning at dawn, and have mixed reviews as the boats tend to outnumber the dolphins. It can though still be an enjoyable ride, and if you do find a pod of dolphins it is of course very worthwhile. The price is fixed by the local boatmen's association, and is currently Rp 75,000 per person. If you are in a group, ask about chartering your own private boat. Cockfights are popular around around Lovina, perhaps more so than anywhere else in Bali. This is taken very seriously, and you will see many older men training the cocks at the roadside throughout the area. At the fights, huge sums of money change hands as illegal gambling on the outcome is rife. If you are interested, ask at your hotel or approach one of the local men and ask to tag along to the next fight. Banjar Hot Springs Banjar Hot Springs (Air Panas), Dencarik (about 10 km west by road to Dencarik, then an ojek ride on rough paths). 7AM-6PM. Located west of Lovina, this is an enchanting hot springs with stone carved mouths gushing water in a lush garden setting. The waters are naturally a very pleasing temperature and have a high sulphur content. The whole experience here is extremely therapeutic and cleansing. Changing rooms and lockers are provided on site. This is not a straightforward place to get to, and for that reason it is often way less crowded than you would expect for such a lovely spot. Rp 3,000. edit Diving There are several dive operators based out of Lovina that operate daily dive and snorkelling trips to Menjangan Island, Tulamben and Amed, as well as dives from the local beaches. Be sensible and careful as some hotels and counters try to sell unlicensed diving trips that may look official on paper. Do not pay before you have seen the dive centre, and check that you will dive w i t h c e r t i f i e d divemasters/instructors.

Lovina is a quiet coastal town on the North Bali coastline west of the city of Singaraja. The Dolphin Statue, Kalibukuk, Lovina Lovina is a relatively new name coined in the 1950s by a local Buleleng Regency official with a good eye for future tourism-based development. It essentially consists of seven traditional villages, which all slightly merge into one on a ten kilometre stretch of the main road which hugs the north coast to the west of Singaraja: Temukus, Kalibukbuk, Anturan, Pemaron, Tukad Mungga, Banyualit and Kaliasem. Kalibukuk is the main hub of this area and is often thought of "Lovina town centre". The whole stretch of coast here is fringed by quite narrow black sand beaches, which are accessed by a multitude of small lanes which run perpendicular to the east-west coast road. The beaches are generally safe for swimming, and the waters of Bali's north coast, in direct contrast to the crashing surf of the south, are relatively calm. Diving, snorkelling and dolphin watching are the main activities, but perhaps above all else, this is an area in which to relax and take in a very slow, traditional pace of life. It can get a little crowded in July and August, but outside that peak season, this is a quiet part of

It was my first time visiting Dr Putz for a colonoscopy ? I went into his office for my first rectal exam. His new blond nurse, Evelyn, took me to an examining room. She told me to get undressed and have a seat until the doctor could see me . She said that he would only be a few minutes. After putting on the gown that she gave me I sat down. While waiting I observed there were three items on a stand next to the exam table: A Tube of K-Y jelly, A rubber glove And a beer . When Dr. Putz finally came in I said, "Look Doc", I'm a little confused This is my first exam. I know what the K-Y is for, And I know what the glove is for, But can you tell me what the BEER is for?" At that, Doctor Putz became noticeably outraged and stormed over to the door. He flung the door open and yelled to his new nurse, "Dang it, Evelyn !!! I said a BUTT LIGHT!"

Jolly ready to play Swans

Darren Jolly says he is ready to return to AFL action against the Swans.
Collingwood ruckman Darren Jolly says he is ready to return to action against Sydney on Saturday night following a twoweek training camp in the United States. Jolly, 29, had minor knee surgery in late April and has not played since Anzac Day. However, the man who has won premierships with Sydney (2005) and Collingwood (2010) says he is refreshed and raring to go against his old side. "Given that it was pretty nice weather over there, it made it a lot easier to enjoy the trip and enjoy the hard work," Jolly said. Star midfielder Dane Swan is also set to return this week for the second-placed Magpies after joining Jolly, Brent Macaffer (foot injury) and Nathan Brown (knee) for the mid-season, high-altitude camp in Arizona. Brown, recovering from a knee reconstruction, suffered a patella injury in his other knee which ended any hope the premiership defender had of returning to action this season. But the news has been all good for Jolly, who said the Arizona trip provided a mental break for the four players to get away from the weekly grind of rehabilitation work at the club. "We trained every second day with the four of us. We took the footies over," Jolly said. "We tested our individual injuries out ... we tested (my knee) out. "It certainly wasn't a holiday. I got a lot out of it. "I feel good now. "I hope to (play), whether it's in the twos or the ones, I'll wait and see. But I'm ready to go either way. "I was a little bit tired on the weekend but I'm fine now." The Swans will be without suspended ruckman Shane Mumford for the Olympic stadium clash. But co-captain Adam Goodes is confident Mark Seaby can handle the ruck duties, with back-up from Lewis RobertsThomson. Goodes said the sixth-placed Swans need to lift after being outclassed by 34 points against third-placed Carlton on Sunday at Docklands. "What we've learnt is under extreme pressure, which is what top-four sides do, we buckled. Unfortunately, we turned the ball over too easily," he said.

The 31-year-old Waugh came to the Waratahs from club side Sydney University. He made his Test debut in 2000 off the bench against England. The following year he returned to the international scene as Wallabies vicecaptain at the 2003 World Cup at home. Australia eventually lost the final to England at Sydney's Olympic stadium but Waugh was honoured with the second annual John Eales Medal that season as the Wallabies' best player. A step into the homes of any of the farming families here brings visitors eye-to-eye with thousands of some of the world's most feared creatures -- snakes, many of them poisonous. Cobras, vipers and pythons are everywhere in Zisiqiao, aptly known as the snake village, where the reptiles are deliberately raised for use as food and in traditional medicine, bringing in millions of dollars to a village that otherwise would rely solely on farming. "As the number one snake village in China, it's impossible for us to raise only one kind of snake," said Yang Hongchang, the 60-year-old farmer who introduced snake breeding to the village decades ago. "We are researching many kinds of snakes and the methods of breeding them." In 1985, Yang started selling snakes he caught around the area to animal vendors. He soon began to worry that the wild snakes would run out and thus began researching on how to breed snakes at home. Within three years, he had made a fortune -- and many other villagers decided to emulate his success. Today, more than three million snakes are bred in the village every year by the 160 farming families. Snakes are renowned for their medicinal properties in traditional Chinese medicine and are commonly drunk as soup or wine to boost the person's immunity. Yang has now started his own company to make his business more formal and build a brand, and method has been approved and recognized by the province and the county. They see us as the corporation working with the farming families," Yang said. "So the company researches on the snakes and they hand them over to the farms for breeding. But Ya n g H o n g c h a n g s a i d competition is stiff from other breeders who are rearing snakes on a larger scale than his village. In addition, rearing the snakes comes with obvious risks. The snake farmers said they had been bitten, some by deadly snakes, and were saved only by injection of anti-venom medicine. Yang Wenfu, 55, gave up rearing species of venomous vipers after being bitten by one of them earlier in his career. "After that, I no longer dared to raise vipers. I am still scared today," he said, adding that his arm grew hugely swollen after the bite. "Life is valuable and making money is secondary.

He told reporters on Tuesday in Sydney that he hopes to finish his career playing for the Wallabies in the World Cup later this year in New Zealand. "I've been very humbled and very proud to have represented Australia over a decade, which has encompassed 79 Test matches, and I hope to increase on that number," Waugh said. "It's obviously a big year for rugby and I want to be a part of that World Cup squad. "I'm very proud of my career and what I've achieved and, in terms of rugby memories, I hope that my fondest memories occur over the coming months." Waugh led New South Wales to fifth on the Super Rugby table and a wildcard spot in the play-offs in 2011 with a 106 record including four wins out of the province's last six games. It means the Waratahs will be playing for more than just their finals survival on Friday afternoon (AEST) against the Blues in Auckland, with the Eden Park clash potentially Waugh and veteran prop Al Baxter's final appearance in the sky-blue jumper. The original breeding method was simply putting males and females together, but now meticulous research is done on how the snakes breed, how to select good females, investigation into their diet, and how to incubate eggs so survival rates rise. With rising demand for snake products from restaurants and medicine halls due both to rising wealth and a government push for breeding the animals to be used in traditional medicine, Zisiqiao villagers are now boasting a annual income of hundreds of thousands of yuan per year. Yang Xiubang, 46, has been raising snakes in his home for more than twenty years and said his annual income has been steadily rising. "The demand for traditional Chinese medicine is quite high in China," he said. "After we finish producing the dried snake, most of them are

It remains to be seen whether Slipper features in the Reds' finals campaign, despite his reputation as a fast healer. The 22year-old returned two weeks early from a shoulder problem midseason and quickly found the form which ensured he became Australia's bolter of 2010, playing 14 Tests and ending the year as starting tighthead. But Reds coach Ewen McKenzie will be wary of pushing Slipper and jeopardising his TriNations and World Cup hopes.

"A worst case scenario for Slipper would have seen him ruled out of the entire finals

Worn out by a fast-paced life and faster-paced television shows but lack a vacation budget? Take a five-day cruise along Norway's scenic fjords, all free and streamed live on Norwegian public television.

The "minute-byminute" coverage started on Thursday and includes all onboard announcements and views from 11 cameras focusing on the spectacular fjords, boat traffic around the ship, officers on the bridge and the mostly elderly passengers strolling the decks and taking in the scenery. "It is slow, it is very slow," said Rune Moeklebust, the project manager for the show running on the NRK2 channel. "Some say it's like watching paint dry but it's so fun to sit in the master control room and mix the cameras," said Moeklebust, adding that 22 NRK crew were aboard the vessel providing the non-stop coverage. Moeklebust said the idea for the cruise livecast came after the success of his previous minuteby-minute coverage from a train making a 7-hour trip between Oslo and Bergen, which was viewed at least in part by 1.2 million people in 2009. "That night we realized just how much people wanted to see TV like this and we started thinking about what would be the ultimate Norwegian voyage," he said. "For many Norwegians, this is the most important trip of their lives... which tells the story of their coastline and shows its fantastic scenery.

Carlton captain Chris Judd says it is still way too early for the Blues to regard themselves as an AFL power again. The Blues consolidated their spot in the top four by easily beating Sydney by 34 points on Sunday, but Judd says they still have a lot to prove before they can be compared to G e e l o n g , Collingwood and Hawthorn. Stone stays on at Newcastle

Newcastle head coach Rick Stone will stay on at the NRL club for a further four years as an assistant to incoming coach Wayne Bennett.
Stone joined the Knights in 2006 as an assistant to Michael Hagan and later Brian Smith, before taking over the top job in 2009. He will revert back to his assistant role to make way for Bennett, the seven-time premiership-winning coach who will join Newcastle in 2012 after a successful stint at St George Illawarra. Stone, who was linked to the head coaching role at Penrith, said he was excited to stay with the Hunter club but maintained his entire focus was on getting the Knights into the finals this season. "The focus for the entire team is on this year as there is still a long way to go, but it's great to have my future secure," Stone said. "I am very excited about what the Hunter Sports Group has planned overall for the Hunter and it's wonderful to be a part of it.

In a master versus apprentice battle, Kiwi youngster Shane van Gisbergen has held out veteran Craig Lowndes to claim the Darwin round's second and final V8 Supercars race on Sunday.
Series leader Jamie Whincup looked home before he was swamped at a re-start after a second safety car with just 10 laps left. Whincup was left for dead by five cars armed with the faster soft compound tyres at the re-start, with van Gisbergen leading the way. The young Kiwi held his nerve as Lowndes made his presence known to snare his second career win. Lowndes has whittled Holden team-mate Whincup's series lead down to just 156 points after six rounds. Whincup - caught on hard tyres when the safety car was called after Karl Reindler speared off - finished sixth. But Holdsworth was the only one who initially benefited after Whincup was inexplicably swamped at the start, dropping as far back as eighth. While Holdsworth grabbed the lead, Whincup worked his way back to second by the fifth lap - albeit five seconds behind the Holden driver. But the race changed when all but four drivers pitted after the first safety car was called when Jason Bright's Commodore blew its engine on the 12th lap, dumping oil at the end of the straight. After the pair changed to hard tyres, Whincup overtook Holdsworth for the lead on the 28th lap. The lead changed hands as teams juggled fuel, soft tyre and pit stop strategies but Whincup again emerged at the front. However, everything changed after Reindler came to grief on the 59th lap. The next round will be held in Townsville from July 8-10.

Galuvao made 86 metres and 27 tackles despite Hasler admitting the 32-yearold was "in great pain" for the entire second half. "He refused to have an injection at half-time.
