Welcome Welcome everyone into your home & be sure to make your guests feel special. Work with your LITs (leaders in training) to help them understand the value of making people feel loved & accepted right as they walk through the front door. Opening Prayer Share a brief word about the blessing it is to BELONG to this Home Group & Community Group. Community is more than a once a week fellowship; Community is a way of life. Pray Gods blessings on your HG tonight.

Suggestions for Family Time A) Play the game Listen Up! Have one child be it & their job is to follow the instructions given to them for a simple task. (ex., Turn to a certain page in a book & read the 4th sentence in the 3rd paragraph.) The challenge is to listen & follow the clear instructions while everyone else in the room is telling them something else to do (something different)...competing in volume & in task. The child should leave the room while the instructions are given to the group. The purpose is to show the importance of intentionally listening to the right voice. B) See if any of the kids in your HG went to Kids Camp. If they did, test them to see if they still remember their Be List! C) Break into small groups (adults with kids) & memorize the Core Comp creed for Single-Mindedness: I focus on God & His priorities for my life. Suggestions for Kids Time A) Play the Mirror Game. Each child gets a partner & one of them is the mirror. The mirror tries to imitate the movements & gestures of the other as closely as they can, keeping in time with their movements. The child who is not the mirror needs to NOT go too fast. Make it easy enough for small children, but challenging enough for the older ones. Read James 1:22-25. The point: We LOOK into Gods Word, LISTEN to His instructions & then LIVE it! (LOOK, LISTEN & LIVE!) B) Consider teaching the children the books of the Bible, in order. Start with the New Testament. Encourage them to know Gods Word. Suggestions for Adult Time A) In the introduction to this weeks Scrolls, the writer made this statement, Conventional wisdom among church attendees isbetter sermons mean better believers. Lets have a friendly & controlled debate. Have someone argue for this perspective & have another person argue against it. (Note: Sound teaching is invaluable, but hearing & doing is the key.) B) Read James 1:19-27 together. What hinders a believer from being a doer of the Word? What can help a believer to be a doer of the Word & not just a listener? C) Who are widows & orphans in our community? Are these the only people that we look after? If not, then whats the point here? As individuals & as a community of faith, how are we looking after widows & orphans? Suggestions for Prayer Time A) Pray that the Spirit of God would convict us & convince us to listen & obey His Word in everything we do. B) Ask your group to look up verses from His Word that they can turn into prayers. (Ex. James 1:22, Help us to be doers.)
