Which Runes?
There are a large variety of runes available. For our purposes, Ive chosen the Elder Futhark set, originating in Northern Europe. Feel free to use any you wish.

Attachments
There are two attachments for you to use with your Harry Potter event.

Rune Cypher Using the runes in a secret code, there are ve words to decode. At the bottom of the sheet, encourage your kids to create their own secret message. The answer key is on a second sheet.

Harry Potter: Magical Crafts

Rune Meanings A second attachment shows the runes and gives what theyre called and their meaning. If you choose to teach a class about the meaning of runes, this will provide you a quick reference. In addition, if you make runes (Harry Potter: Magical Crafts) you can use these for the kids to follow and they can then play with the runes they make.
