The aim behind visit is to make the learning process complete with practical knowledge besides the radical knowledge in the education programmed. INTROUCTION
Today, in modern area world batteries are used in most of the place. Vehicles battery plays an important role. Most of the vehicles like scooter, motor, bus, truck etc. have needed battery. The use of battery is not enough for vehicles but now a days the use of batteries are made by the shop other industries, govt. departments and also in home. Batteries removes the problem an electricity by inverter. In past above mentioned groups were suffering from the problem of an electricity but now they have no problem because of battery industries. Battery industries are mainly in the private sector but it also found in a public sector in minimum case.

HISTORY
The history of any industry means about its past performance. What the financial position of the unit in past, how they developed the unit in past, how they developed unit and what is there present situation in the market etc. GOLD STAR BATTERY PVT. LTD. Has been a manufacture of star gold brand all types of automotive and industrial batteries since 1992 and has been distributor of a full line of batteries and associated products for over 20 years. Mr. M. M. Pansara, the owner and operator of GOLD STAR BATTERY PVT. LTD. has over 20 years experience in the field under his able guidance the company has prospered the tremendously and has been meeting the challenges of the industry quite successfully.

DEVELOPMENT
Development means the progress by which company achieved its present existing credit and position. With constant increase and pressure to find alternate energy sources, the company strives to find new and improved designs and products to meet the customers requirements. The improved and modified design structure of the company has been a constant hit the mission of GOLD STAR BATTERY PVT. LTD. is to provide a reliable and competitive product, coupled with technical expertise to meet the demands of an increasingly demanding market place.

It manufacture industrial battery for the power telecom as well as railways. Because of good product the company cover the GUJARAT Market and also supply batteries in other states of India.

2. Towards society: A company is a part of society. A company can not ignore the society interest. Following are the contribution towards the society by GSBPL. A. It provides employment to the people.

B. Company adopt pollution control machine to stop the pollution. C. Company also provide training to the student of BBA, MBA, Engineering Faculty.

PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT

INTRODUCTION
The production department is the heart of any industrial unit because all affairs depends on production department. All other department can be affected by the production department. Production means creation of utilities and covers all the activities of procurement, allocation and utilization of resources. Production department of the GSBPL is the eye catching. The production is done by GSBPL with great care. In modern world is more important than quantity. In GSBPL, The quality of the battery is maintain by this staff at every stage. They check the production by very carefully. So its hard to find the criticism in the production department of GSBPL.

PRODUCTION OF THE COMPANY


The details of products produced by GSBPL are as follows, 1. TYPES OF RAW MATERIAL


GSBPL Produce the batteries and the main raw material are as under,

Lead alloy :
Lead is the main raw material of the battery. Without it battery cannot

be produce.

2.

Separator :

It is used to separate the plate of negative and positive.

3. Plastic box :
Plastic box use to pack the positive and negative plates into it.

4. Batteries scrape :
Its reuse to make container and to make plates.

5. Acid :

Acid is very useful for batteries. Batttteries are charged with the help of machine and Acid is put down into it.

6. Water :
Water is used each and every step into the production process.

7. Bottom Bar :
Bottom bar is used to pack the bag. So red lead cant fall out from it.

8. Bag :
The plates are packed into bag for temporary until those plates are separate into positive and negative.

9. Red lead :
When plates are packed into bag then red lead power is putted into the bag to give security to the plate.

Vent plug :
Its used to put the power into the battery.

MACHINERY USED
Following are the main machinery used by GSBPL. 1. Fully automatic grid casting machine. 2. Semi automatic grid casting machine. 3. Mixing machine. 4. Plate pressing machine. 5. Cutting machine. 6. Battery plate charger. 7. Spot welding. 8. Air compressor. 9. Lead oxide plant. 10. Air pollution control machine. 11. Rotary furnace.

PRODUCTION PROCESS
First of all old batteries are brought here and then old batteries are broken here. In the old batteries, plates are taken out from them.

1. Smelting :
Plates of old battery is brought here in this plant and that brought to the furnace. There is a lead in the places which is the main raw material. Lead is melt in the furnace for 5 or 6 hours. The lead is brought out. The lead which is melted is called soft lead. The lead which is not melted is called hard lead. The hard lead is taken to the rotary machine. Then it is melted here. There is a 2 type of lead 1 is soft lead and 2 nd is hard lead. Soft lead is used in making powder. Then lead is taken in to the refinery.

2. Refinering :

After smelting soft lead and hard lead are refine into the machine. In this machine pure lead i.e. hard lead is used to making plates and soft lead is used to making powder in lead oxide plant. All pure lead is used and if there is a impure lead then its again goes for the smelting.

3. Casting :
After refining, lead is brought here and then put into the machine. Its name is lead casting machine. Here the lead is converted into plates are of two types i.e.

(A) Positive Plates (B) Negative Plates TUBULAR POSITIVE PLATE CONSTRUCTION
Grids of positive plates are cast from special alloy giving high mechanical strength. Gauntlet tubes of high bursting strength are used as oxide holders. Properly balanced ratio of positive active material to grid, yield high performance and long service life. Each plate undergoes strict quality surveillance to ensure consistent and superior performance.

NEGATIVE PLATE CONSTRUCTION


Design of negative plate is well balanced with the equivalent positive plates for matching performance. Special alloy and paste formation is used to yield high performance characteristics. Perfect curing method and process ensures proper binding of active material to grid thus totally eliminating shedding phenomena.

4. Pasting :
In Positive plate water oxide and sulfuric acid and in negative plate water oxide and liquid are mixed. And then powder is preparrd from this mixture. This powder is put into positive plate.

5. Drying :
After putting powder properly into the plate. Its taken to drying section. Then put is dried for 48 hours.

6. Formatting :
After drying the plate properly it is taken to formation section here, it is drawn into the acid and then it is filled with acid for 24 hours.

7. Packing :

After above all steps, plates are taken to packing section. Here all the items are assembled. Here plates are properly put into the box. Separator is kept between positive plates and negative plates, so that the danger of shock circuit not exist and it is closed and then asphalt is stacked on it.

8. Charging :
After packing all the items into the battery, battery are brought into charging section. They are charged by charging machine. Batteries are charged for 48 hours then batteries are ready.

Battery Recycling
Battery recycling protects our environment from heavy metal contamination. Batteries that are generated by households in small quantities or in large quantities from industrial facilities are in most cases considered hazardous waste and must be managed properly. Reclamation of usable materials from batteries is an economical and environmentally sound decision. Additionally, battery recycling gives a generator credit for waste minimization at an effective price. Gold Star Batteries is having its own smelting plant, where GOLDSTAR is producing Lead ingots for its Battery-manufacturing Unit and all processing is completed under Environmental Protection Norms laid by MoEF. Looking after Governments Environment policy, Gold Star Battery is having registered with Ministry of Environment and Forest, New Delhi and authorize to purchase scrap from all available government and non-government sources. GoldStar is also having Authorization from GPCB (gujarat Pollution Control Board) for Hazardous Waste with Air & Water Consents for their Smelting Unit. GoldStar Battery has lifted scrap lead acid batteries from following organisations : 1. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (From Various locations in Gujarat 2. Oil & Natural Gas Commission, Hazira, Surat 3. Relience Petroleum Ltd.

QUALITY CONTROL
Quality is must be maintained by all the companies. If any company ignore the quality, The future of this company is dark.

GSBPL keep control in its product every production stage. They check all the items at each and every stage. If there is aout of control the quality, then workers are reject it and reuse it. Also final product is also checked by a supervisor.

So GSBPL keep much quality control on its product.

PRODUCTION CAPACITY
Production capacity refers to total no of product produce by a company during a year. It includes two types of capacity i.e.. 1. Installation capacity, 2. Utilized capacity.

1. Installation capacity :
It refers to total no of product or maximum product produce by the machineries today the installation capacity of the machineries is approx. about 9500 battery per month. But company wants this capacity by the purchasing latest machineries.

Utilized capacity :

It means total no of product produce by the workers in a year through machineries. So far as our visited unit is concerned i.e. GSBPL the utilized capacity of this unit is 7500 per month.

Company also wants to increase its utilized capacity.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Environmental factors includes following terms i.e. 1. Air pollution 2. Water pollution 3. Noise pollution 4. Natural resources Above 4 terms are very danger for an environment.

1. Toward air pollution :


To remove the air pollution, GSBPL installed a machine that air pollution cannot be emerge.

2. Toward water pollution :


So far as water pollution is concerned company established a plant that purified the dirty water that emerge from the machineries and purified water goes to flower plant of the campus of the unit.

3. Toward Natural resources :


The problem of natural resources is very serious. Its decrease day by day. But this company has no plan towards natural resources. They dont consider this problem.

PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT

INTRODUCTION
Personnel management may be defined as an art of procuring, developing and maintaining competent work force to achieve organizational goal. Personnel department is effective handling by its members. Company knows that employees are the most important and valuable assets of the company. In GSBPL most of the needs of its members are satisfied and gives many protection them. In this company the problems of the workers are solve with easily. The workers are satisfied with the companys behavior. GOLD STAR BATTERY PVT. LTD. has a good efficient and active personnel department.

ORGANISATION STRUCTURE

Organization is a group of people working together cooperatively under authority objective that mutually benefits the organization. Company creates suitable organization structure which is suitable for it.

There are 5 types of organization. 1. Line organization 2. Function organization 3. Line staff organization 4. Committee organization 5. Matrix organization This company has adopted Line & staff organization.

RECRUITMENT, SELECTION AND INDUCTION


RECRUITMENT

Recruitment is one of the most important personnel functioning requiring almost serious attention. GSBPL knows that for systematically recruitment function. It is necessary that the entire recruitment actiovity is centralized at the personnel department itself. The company has mainly 2 sources of recruitment.

SELECTION
Selection is the most important personnel function next to recruitment. The decision in the personnel department is the selection of employees. In GSBPL selection procedure includes following steps. 1. Application Blank 2. Written test 3. Personnel interview

A new employee who is well introduced in regard of the various methods. Feels satisfies and be thanks that he has joined the right organization. GSBPL used the following induction process. 1. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT


TRANING
Training is the act of increasing the knowledge and skill of an employee for doing a particular job. There are 2 types of training i.e. on training and off job training. GSBPL gives training as per requirement to the employees at on job.

DEVELOPMENT
Development is concerned with the growth of an employee in all respects. It refers to increase the skill of an employee towards its work. GSBPL conduction many time meeting and invite some experts persons for temporary to develop the skill of the employees.

PROMOTION AND TRANSFER POLICY


PROMOTION
Promotion means shifting of an employee to a higher position with higher responsibilities, authorities and salaries. Promotion is done on two bases. 1. Merit 2. Seniority

TRANSFER

In GSBPL sometimes transfer of an employee is made by manager for improve his working capacity because it may be possible that work assigned to him may not preferable to him. At that time transfer is essential and also it motivate the person to work in efficient manner.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL SYSTEM


The performance appraisal test is considered as a significance test because it provides all the information regarding the decision such as promotion, transfer, monetary benefits etc. Performance appraisal refers to all formal producers used in working organization to evaluate personalities and contributes and potential of group members. GSBPL make performance appraisal on the basis of following 3 criteria which are fixed by the company i.e. Behavior, Work performance, Attendance. GSBPL appraise the performance of workers on the basis of above 3 criteria and if the person is found good he may be promoted.

WAGES SALARY ADMINISTRATION


A wages is remuneration paid for his services of labors for production, periodically to an employee, workers. In GSBPL wages are given to the labour on daily basis and weekly wages and monthly basis. Company tries to satisfy them by fixed minimum wage. Also GSBPL pays salary to the employees as per government rules and regulations and pays extra salary or wages as per work done by workers.

GRIEVANCE HANDLING

PROCEDURE
Grievance is any dissatisfaction to the employee in connection with his employment situation that is brought to the attention of management. In GSBPL grievance among workers is rare case and most of the employees are satisfied. In GSBPL different directors directors are appointed to manage different effectively. Directors can easily solve the grievance with the help of their experience.

WORKING OF E.S.I SCHEME


The ESI (Employees state insurance) scheme is a important at present situation. It is a scheme for the protection and benefits of the workers and their families.

In GSBPL this scheme is not applicable. But this company will apply this scheme in sooner.

TRADE UNION
All your strength is in your union. All your danger is in your discard. Therefore be at peace hence forward and as brother, live together

Trade unions are association of workers and are formed to maintain and improve the conditions of workers. Trade union seeks to protect and promote the common interest of their members through collective action. In GSBPL, there is a no trade union. Because the staff of FSBPL is very small and if any problem arises, this problem is easily solved by face to face meeting of workers and directors.

PERSONNEL RECORDS
Personnel record is solution to many problems of identification and development of right man for the right job at the right time. Personnel record is a stock of factual information about workers. Its Useful in decision making on specific personnel matters and also for recruitment, evaluation, job analysis, selection, promotion, trainingetc

In GSBPL such records are maintain in a services book for each and every employees information. It is follows,

INTRODUCTION
Marketing management performs all the function of marketing and develops the product on the base of consumer demand. It has to formulate sound marketing policy.

Marketing is the soul of the business activity. Today in the competitive age world marketing is a essential part of the business activity. Without marketing its hard to achieve the companys objective. In GSBPL marketing department is done well. Company always gives preference to the needs, liking and disliking of the customers and always provide satisfactory services after sales and before sales.

PRODUCT PLANNING
Production planning means the planning for the product that is to decide what type of product is to be produced thats turn into high profitability.

GSBPL produces battery woth aggressive product line. Following are the type of the battery which is produced by the company.

1. STAR GOLD automotive batteries hard rubber ranges. 2. STAR GOLD automotive batteries polypropylene ranges. 3. INVA STAR stationary batteries polypropylene ranges.
4. STAR GOLD INVA STAR industrial cell.

Pricing policy means a companys method of determining the price for its product. What price should be charged for the product is critical question. Correct price decision leads a company to earn profit. GSBPL is cost oriented. It is determined on the basis of total cost of the unit produce and it also consider the price charged by its competitors. The price of the different batteries produced by the company starts from Rs.800 to Rs.6000

CHANNEL OF DISTRIBUTION

After the production, the problem is arise that how product is reach to market. The entire function of getting goods into the hand of customers is referred as the CHANNEL OF DISTRIBUTION which established link between both consumer and producers. Channel of distribution establishes a bridge between different types of channel i.e. 1. Zero Level Channel 2. One Level Channel 3. Two Level Channel GSBPL has adopted zero level channel, one level channel and three level channel in metro cities.

SALES PROMOTION
Sales promotion is a gap between advertising and personnel selling. Sales promotion is effective tools to increase the sales. Through a proper sales

promotion technique the company would experience immediate demand from dealers. GSBPL has adopted some of tools sales promotion as well to promote its sales. 1. It arranges distributors meeting once in a year. 2. Sometimes they are also having done some demonstrations for it. 3. GSBPL also gives some gifts and special schemes to its dealers.

GSBPL always provide a quality to its customers with a view to earning the maximum satisfaction of customer and normal profit.

ADVERTISING

Advertisement means, Any paid form of non personnel presentation and promotion of goods, services or ideas by an identified sponsor. MARKETING RESEARCH

Marketing research is the systematic design collection, analysis and reporting of data and finding relevant information of the marketing situation faced by the company. Marketing research is highly necessary in this modern competitive age. A company can conduct marketing research in different ways. In GSBPL there is a no marketing research department because it doesnt affect fashion, consumer taste and choice with a single person.

FINANCE DEPARTMENT

INTRODUCTION
Finance department includes the capital, expenses, salary policies, share, capital, loans and every matter, which is pertaining to money or assets. Finance is a life blood of the business. Finance department is must be handled by effectively. In GSBPL finance department recorded all the transaction in terms of money, quantity, sales, purchases, gross profit, net profit etc. to operate finance effectively. Company always keeps balance between equity and debt. So capital structure is good. So, according to above information we can say that company is in a good position.

FINANCE PLANNING
The planning means deciding in advance what is to be done. That is a plan is projected course of action. Finance department also need planning. Finance planning is a process of determining the goals, policies, programmers, procedure and budget to deal with financial activities of a business. So far as GSBPL is concerned there are 3 different types of financial planning on the time period.

CAPITALISATION z
The word capitalization can be defined as subtotal of all kings of loan term securities at the par value. Thus it consists of ownership capital, borrowed capital and surplus. In broader sence, term capitalization refer not only to quantity of finance needed but also the way in which its long term obligations are distributed between different type of security including long term borrowing. It can be classified under following 3 heads,

1. Fair Capitalization (Book value = Real value)


When book value of company is equal to real value then there is a fair capitalization.

2. Over Capitalization (Book value > Real value)


When book value of company is more than value then there is a over capitalization.

3. Under capitalization (Book value < Real value)


When book value of a company is less than the real value there is a under capitalization. it is good position of the company.

In short:

Over Capitalization = Book Value > Real Value Under Capitalization = Book Value < Real Value Fair Capitalization = Book Value = Real Value According to the GSBPL is under capitalization because book value is less than real value.

Capital structure is the important aspect of the financial management capital structure refers ton a The make up of a firms capitalization . In broader sense, capital structure includes all the long term capital. There are mainly 4 patents of capital structure. 1. Capital structure with equity share capital. 2. MANAGEMENT OF FIXED ASSETS

Company mainly have two types of assets i.e. fixed assets and current assets. Fixed assets are those assets which are permanent investment for the company. Company require long period to recover the investment in fixed assets. Fixed assets most essential for process of production , for instance machinery, land & building, furniture.etc.

Working capital refers to the money required for day to day operation of an organization. No business runs without the provision of adequate working capital. There are 2 ways to use the concept of working capital. i.e. Gross working capital and net working capital.

A. Gross Working Capital


Gross working capital refers to the firms investment in current assets.

B. Net Working Capital


Net working capital refers to the excess of current assets over current liabilities.

MANAGEMENT OF INVENTORY

Inventory is composed of assets that will be sold in future in normal cause of business operation. The purpose of inventory management is to keep the stock in such a way that neither there is overstocking nor stocking. Inventory helps in smooth in efficient running of business. Generally a large part of working capital is invested in the inventory. Basic inventories are raw material, work in progress and finished goods. MANAGEMENT OF RECEIVABLES

Its not possible to have always cash transaction. It means, when a firm sell goods on credit , payment are received only at a future date and receivable are created. Its an essential marketing tool in modern business trade. Account receivable constitutes a significant position of the total current assets of the business next after inventories. Cash is most liquid from of current assets. Cash is important current assets. For the operation of the business it includes coin currency, cheques held by firm and balance in its bank accounts. The cash management is one of the function of finance. Any inefficiency in cash management will reflect in overall performance of company. RATIO ANALYSIS

One of the most important financial tools which has come to is used very frequently for analyzing the financial strengths and weakness of the company is RATIO ANALYSIS. Its a technique of analysis and interpretation of financial statement. By calculating various ratios we conclude the financial position of the company.

Gross profit ratio


Gross profit ratio indicates firms actual progress in gross profit by comparing sales with gross profit.

Net profit ratio


Growing importance on sales promotion and other selling expenses many time decreases the actual profitability of the firm. So its advisable to calculate NET PROFIT RATIO in addition of gross profit to interpret firm actual financial performance.

Current Ratio
Current ratio shows relationship between current assets and current liabilities. This ratio shows ability of the company to copy as with current liabilities.

Liquid ratio

Liquid ratio shows relationship between liquid assets and liquid liabilities. This ratio shows liquidity of the company to pay liquid liabilities.

Proprietary ratio
Proprietary ratio shows relationship between proprietors fund and total assets of the company. This ratio shows the general financial position of the company.

FUTURE PLAN

Planning is a important tool for a business to achieve success. Planning helps to a company to solve the problems regarding future, because future is always uncertain so future plan heps to a company to get success. The future plans of GSBPL are as under, 1. GSBPL wants to expand its business. 2. GSBPL wants to increase the production capacity. 3. GSBPL wants to decrease the cost of production. 4. GSBPL goal is to cover more market share. 5. GSBPL wants to modification in its current situation of production

department.

CONCLUSION

After completing my training in GSBPL I came to conclude that its a golden opportunity for me to take visit in a efficient unit i.e. GSBPL. GSBPL is effectively handled by its members in a company all individual, grove, section, department.etc. are well co-ordinaries.
