Close Protection (1892) & First Person on Scene (First Aid) Courses 2011

The following courses are held with IBA Ireland (Right Track Security) a registered City & Guilds and EDEXCEL Training Provider. The courses are held at their center at West Coast House. Oldenway Business Park, Ballybrit, Galway, Co. Galway, in the Republic of Ireland. Flights from Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin, Manchester, London Luton, Isle of Man are scheduled to Galway Airport. There is also a bus and rail service to Galway from Dublin and Shannon Airports. Course fees do not include Accommodation or Meals. Reasonably priced Bed & Breakfast accommodation is sourced within Galway. The IBAHQ reserve the right to reschedule courses when a course is undersubscribed.
To Register for a Close Protection Officers licence with the United Kingdom Security Industry Authority will require the candidate to provide proof of a Close Protection certificate Level 3 (eg.: BTEC or City & Guilds) and a First Aid Certificate (eg. First Aid at Work or Level 2 BTEC Award IHCD First Person on Scene) EXPERIENCED PRACTITIONER TRAINING (Already a trained International Bodyguard) This course is designed for those with IBA training who hold the IBA 100 hours badge and have competed training to that standard and can show proof through existing certification. CITY & GUILDS Close Protection Level 3 (1892)

A professional qualifications in close protection are for those working or planning to work as close protection officers or bodyguards in a range of settings. These include security, transport, care or community services. The City & Guilds close protection qualifications are suitable for people whose job sometimes includes dealing with the public and are vulnerable to incidents involving violent or aggressive people. They enable learners to recognise when someone is becoming confrontational and master techniques for calming and defusing the situation.

FULL CLOSE PROTECTION Course Those without the 100 hours IBA Badge can avail of the complete 3 week course in Galway at the end of February, end of May, August and October. Close Protection Level 3 Certificate (1892)

The qualification consists of the following fourteen units: 1 Understand the legislation that is relevant to people working in the close protection industry 2 Understand the roles and responsibilities of the Close Protection Operative 3 Know the importance of threat assessment and risk management 4 Know surveillance techniques 5 Understand venue security operations 6 Know how to design and demonstrate operational planning 7 Know the importance of interpersonal skills 8 Know the importance of teamwork 9 Know the importance of reconnaissance 10 Know how to conduct close protection foot drills 11 Know the importance of planning and selecting routes 12 Know vehicle movement tactics and operations 13 Know the search techniques and procedures for close protection operations 14 Know how to apply conflict management techniques while providing close protection

Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Award IHCD First Person on Scene (FPOS)


Qualification summary
The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Award IHCD First Person on Scene (FPOS) qualification is available at a basic and intermediate level. It has been designed to equip learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence to help a person in a life threatening situation. Areas covered include: Scene safety Minimising the risk of infection Patient assessment Basic life support and automated defibrillation (to re-start the heart) Providing initial emergency patient care Being part of a medical response. This qualification has been developed with the NHS Ambulance Services and is clinically endorsed by the Faculty of Pre-hospital Care. FPOS also meets the Security Industry Authority first aid requirements for Close Protection, and can be delivered internationally. You will also require the Conflict Management modules which is included by IBA in the CP3 training

The IBAHQ has been involved in the provision of Close Protection courses since the inception of the Security Industry Authority Close Protection licence. In the late 1990s the IBAHQ gave evidence on the bodyguard industry to the House of Commons, Home Affairs Select committee on the private security industry and subsequently was contacted by the Secretary of State for the Home Office for further information on Bodyguarding. National courses can be found by contacting the IBA National or Regional Director of a country through the IBAHQ website www.ibabodyguards.com
