In doing so, the school will be able to tap into your expertise and advice to generate graduates that will assimilate effectively; in tandem with the needs of the industry. The students can help to meet your short term manpower needs. Objectives To nurture students in gaining practical experience and life skills in a real work environment. To enable students to gain valuable work experience in relevant industries. To provide companies opportunities to assess the quality of our students. Liaison Officer A lecturer, appointed to oversee the students attached to the company, shall serve as the Liaison Officer. Open channels of communication will be maintained through regular contact with the students and company via email and/or telephone call. Queries and clarifications can be directed to the Liaison Officer. Job Outline Employers are requested to submit job scope to the polytechnic which will be used to prepare students on the companys expectations and requirements. The scope of attachment can cover projects and/or job responsibilities in the areas listed in the response form. The host company is expected to provide the students with a comprehensive training programme. This includes (but is not limited to) on the job supervision that will be undertaken by the host company. Attachment Period The attachment period is 12 weeks starting from 1 August and ending on 21 October 2011. Attendance and Discipline Appended are the guidelines for employers to manage students attendance and other disciplinary issues; Students will follow existing working hours of SIP Company. If the student is sick, he/she must inform the Company Supervisor that he/she is consulting a doctor. Student must submit the original copy of the medical certificate/s (which should be endorsed by the Company Supervisor) together with their attendance record at the end of the internship. In case of emergency, student must inform the Company Supervisor and the respective Liaison Officer. Occasionally, the school may request students to return for interim updates and discussions with the course. The dates will be notified in advance. We trust that the company will release the students for this important matters. The Student is expected to keep a daily record of their attendance. The Company Supervisor will endorse his/her attendance record on completion of the internship. Disciplinary action on the student for absenteeism, insubordination, lateness and or for acts of mischief reported against him/her, must be reported to the schools liaison officer.

Allowance The school suggests a monthly allowance to help defray basic personal expenditure like transportation and meals. The student will have no jurisdiction to renegotiate the rate and the terms of payment with the company. CPF contribution is not required for tertiary students on full time industrial attachment. All payments will be made directly to the student. Submission by Students Students are required to complete a report or presentation detailing their experiences in the organisation. From time to time, they may approach the organisation for information and clarification on company policies and practices. The school appreciate the organisations assistance in the students endeavours. Performance Appraisal Employers are required to countersign the students logbook and complete a performance appraisal on each student based on their work in the organisation. Employers are encouraged to review their performance appraisal with the students.
